BUSY BUSY...

I have been busy the last few days making aprons for all the ladies who will be coming to my house for Thanksgiving dinner. There will be 11 of them. I haven't done a lot of sewing recently so it took me a while to get organized and get going on it. But as I got into my project I remembered how much I enjoy sewing. There is just something about it that makes me feel productive, creative, and accomplished, haha. But here are a few pics of my most recent project...

Here is all the fun fabric that I found (and got a really good price on!) and the pattern I intended to use..

A closer look at the pattern.  It has everything available I might ever want to make for most aprons..

A close up look at one of the fabic's.  I am making this one for my cleaning lady Nina, who requested I do one for her with turkeys.  haha

All ready to start...oh my what have I gotten myself in for?

I love my Bernina machine...soo smooth, quiet and fast.  I have had this machine for 30 years now and worth every penny it cost.  I have used the thing to death, and yet it HAS ALWAYS run soo well.  At the time we bought it we were young and poor but my wonderful husband insisted as he knew I would put it to good use.  I am soo glad now he insisted...

First one done, only 10 to go!!

My hubby insisted I couldn't do a post without me in it...haha  I love where I have my machine now right under the kitchen window and I can sit with the morning sun streaming in and a view of the flowers in my back yard by the pool.  Not many left now, but there are still a few.

Look at my glasses hanging off my nose.  This drives my grandson Jeffie wild for some reason.  "Grandma, they are just going to fall off and be gone someday."  lol

I've got 9 of them done now and have them hanging on the sliding glass door curtain rod waiting for when the ladies arrive.  I am thinking I will let them all draw a number when they arrive and have a number pinned to each apron and that is the one they get.  However, some of these aprons soo suit a specific woman I can't decide if I should just give them which one I think they should have.  hhmmmm  I think I will go with the fun way and let them draw.

A closer look though it is hard to see with the sun shinning through them..

A few more...btw, sorry, but I am having a hard time with the "new" things on the blogging pages.  Sometimes I can center things, others I can't seem to get them to move, lol   I imagine I will eventually figure it all out.  Krisiti is going to help me when her ridiculously busy schedule allows for it...In the meantime, you get the idea.

Only two more to go.  Which means I guess my "break" is over and it is time to head back to the machine.

I hope everyone is enjoying preparing for the holiday as much as I am.  Thanksgiving has always been BIG for me though I know for most it is not.  It is lost in the hustle to get to the Christmas season and all it's wonder.  I LOVE it too.  But I think it is important to remember all we have been blessed with and from Whom it all comes from.

Psalm 95:2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms.

A Psalm of praise.   Psalm 100  is such a favorite of mine, just had to share it here.

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.  Serve the LORD with gladness: come before His presence with singing.  Know ye that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture.  Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.  For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations

Have a wonderful day everyone.

OK, Melly here is the last one besides the one of the fabric you already have.  The ties and ribbon look very blue in this pic., but the color is really quite purple like the grapes.  Pick one and post it, and Larissa and Leah are next.  Everyone else will play the number game...

  1. I love your aprons Debbie! I don't know which one I like the best so I think your idea is great, they will have fun with that!

I've been thinking lately that Thanksgiving gets overlooked because of the stores preparing to make the majority of their money with Christmas shoppers. I even heard I think what looked to be an eight year old walk into Target and she said to her mother, "Wow, Christmas already." In a not so excited tone. I love Thanksgiving, as I have MUCH to be thankful for!

Glad the hubby took some pics of you, that spot looks perfect for sewing. I'd love to learn how to sew, my Mom used to make our Halloween costumes and stuff all the time. I want to be able to do that too!!

I enjoyed your post today! We'll definitely make time to work on your blog. I'm loving the big pictures and I think you will too!
