SOME WEEK-END HAPPENINGS..

Donatella LOVES her big brother JD and he ADORES her..It is so sweet

How cute are they??

Capri in "her" world..

She was playing Strawberlious...I love it and her...

Jimmy & Larissa came up yesterday for the day...Capri & JD wanted to make "Pinkalicious" cupcakes again with Grandma so of course I obliged...I think they both like the licking the spoon part the best...

JD was soo excited that he got to help with the mixing this time...

Future heart breaker or what?

Are we really sure we want his help Grandma??

We went and got a little hair cut for Capri yesterday as well and had bangs cut for the first time for her...She was such a good girl on it and was so funny on how she kept trying to see them for herself. Her eyes would look straight up and she'd practically go cross eyed trying to see. haha I caught her several times during the day still trying, I guess convinced that eventually she would.

She has such pretty natural curls and highlights in her hair..Her daddy and I took her over to the mall after her hair cut and had her picture taken at a little place where they digitally re-make the photo so that she will appear to be a fairy sitting in a large pink flower. When I first saw these kinds of photo's I knew I would never rest until Capri had her picture taken this way. It is just sooo her. She is my little girly girl who loves the world of dress up and make believe and lives in a place where fairies and princesses are very much alive. The photo should be ready next Friday so I will share it when I can...

Is she darling or what?

Looking back over my last several posts I see that the majority of what I've written recently is all about my grandkids. I guess that just shows where my heart is at in this season of my life. I just get such a kick out of the things they say and do and their innocence and love of life is what I love to be around. Jeff and I went to the movies today and since it was his turn to pick we ended up seeing District 9. For those of you who haven't heard of it, (I hadn't) it was an alien movie which is a theme which has always seemed to fascinate my husband. Oh my goodness, I guess I could say that I have never really liked alien movies, but this one may have pushed me over into the arena of I now may HATE alien movies, haha. It was (in my humble opinion) RIDICULOUS....BORING..VIOLENT..GORY..and did I already mention...RIDICULOUS.... I dozed for a while briefly and to my horror when I awoke it was still in full swing, haha....We usually try and avoid R rated movies. I just don't think it does my spirit any good to fill my head with what their content is usually about. But occasionally we make an exception....I may have to re-think that too...haha Jeff is now in the process of BBQing himself a steak, and I have made a truly wonderous looking LARGE salad for both of us. I have come up with more ways to cook veggie's and vary salads since starting Jenny Craig then you can possibly imagine...haha I get to pick the movie we will watch tonight on TV, and you can be very sure it won't be an alien movie. Hope everyone is having a great week-end.

A MIXTURE OF POSTS AND PICS...

I had Annabel and Cody's pic's taken yesterday while the others were at school. I haven't had Annabel's pics done since she was 9 so a BIG difference.....She doesn't start until the 8th.....these are professional pics so of course don't copy really well, but you can see how pretty her hair came out for sure.

Cody at a little over 6 and half months...His first professional pic..

What a little doll...somewhat of a Gerber baby I am thinking, but I am Grandma..

This bear isn't doing anything Grandma!!

Had to have a full body shot of course...what a big boy

How cute is this? Always has a finger (or thumb) in his mouth...

Another pretty shot of Annabel though she hated this one. Grandma LOVES it... you can see her pretty little face so well in it...

How cute is he on his very first day of KG??

Here he is after school. Grandma picks him up on Wed as mom and dad are both working..He was sooo excited..The first thing he said to me was "Grandma, the Ginger bread man is alive!! He was talking in the oven and he is hiding somewhere at my school. I have to come tomorrow and help find him." He was so excited and dead serious. haha Don't know for sure what he was told but whatever it was he bought it hook line and sinker. Oh to be 5 again...

You can't quite see him in this group, but I took it anyway...He is not quite as small as I feared he might be. haha He is such a little elf...but he fit in really well.

Here is full body shot of him. He wanted his new shoes in the pic..haha

A few months back my grand daughter Annabel experimented around with color on her hair and learned a valuable lesson....this is a really big NO NO..,haha She just about ruined her hair. It was orange in some places (very brassy) green in others and quite fried in MANY places. It was a mess. So Grandma came to her rescue and told her I would pay to have it professionally fixed but that it would be a process and if she didn't let me tell her HOW it was going to be, what color etc., I would not do it. And if she touched it in the meantime with another box of something, I was done even if her hair was multi colored or she was bald. Sooo, for a few months now my niece who works at a shop in Newport (and gives me great prices by the way or it would have been out) has been reconstructing her hair. It is a shame to be doing anything to a 12 year olds head in my opinion, but live and learn I always say. When all is said and done the most that we will do in the near future is a mini highlight every 4 months or so. Alot of her healthy beautiful hair is back and Jessie has made her hair VERY livable in the meantime....

Oh what we girls go through....no one should have to start soo young...

Finished product here with my niece Jessie at her shop....The back and bottoms are a little dark for my taste (my grand daughter LOVED it, haha) but my niece assured me most of it will wash and fade out and was needed to cover all the green on the ends for now. Lots of swimming and porous and bleached hair don't go together well. Things kids shouldn't have to think of I'm thinking...

Here she is, lucky she is such a cutie.....

JD enjoying his car ride..

Capri wore her wings through the mall...she lives out her world of make believe as much as she can...she got sooo many comments from people who were enjoying her fun...She enjoyed her train ride too...

JD polishes off his cheeseburger...

Capri had finished her lunch and was fluttering her wings..

Capri & Grandma played with her princesses and castle..

Capri wanted the princesses in the pic..

JD watched football with Grandpa..someday we'll watch him play I bet...

Yesterday Jeff and I drove down to San Diego to babysit JD & Capri while Jimmy & Larissa went to a wedding for a friend of theirs. Donatella went with mommy as she is still nursing. What a fun day we had!! Grandpa & I have not had many opportunities to spend a whole day with these two without their mom & dad and we took full advantage of the opportunity. We headed out for the mall complete with Capri's "wings" as she was in the middle of her game as a butterfly, haha...They were sooo good for us. We got the kids new shoes for school and a couple of pairs of pants as well. I "thought" I had snapped a couple of pics of their new shoes, but I guess I must not have since I can't find them. Sometimes Grandma is somewhat skitterish on these things. Capri's were the cutest little things I ever saw. I always have had a thing for shoes for kids as anyone who knows me well could vouch for...haha Anyway, we took our time and traveled the mall at the kids pace. They stopped and played on the indoor play ground for a while, and took a ride on the cars as well. It occured to me at the time that most trips I made to the mall when my kids were small were hurried affairs with me rushing as fast as I could to get in and out and complete the tasks at hand so as to hurry on to the next...Another reason being a grandparent is so nice. Not so much in a hurry anymore. After the mall we lunched at Marie Callenders where again the kids were just as good as they could be. Jimmy & Larissa are doing such a good job with them. They may only be 2 and 4 but they were polite and well mannered and so obedient.. = ) After lunch we headed back to their house and Grandma spent quite a bit of time playing "castle" with Capri and Grandpa watched football with JD..He may only be 2 but he gets and enjoys this sport....I finished off the afternoon reading books to them both which is another thing they both really enjoy. Jim & Larissa got back around 4 and we spent the rest of the evening having dinner and enjoying each other. Donatella was a good girl at the wedding I guess and Grandma & Grandpa took turns playing with her when they got back. She is such a happy baby. All in all it was a REALLY nice way to spend a Saturday. How blessed I am....

Play time at Grandma's

Sweet little Cody

So many choices

Better taste this...

What's up here?

I'll just chew on this for a minute..

One leg up, just one more and I've got it....

Maybe tomorrow, I need to rest now...

Cody has become really active at 6 and half months. Crawls, sits on his own from a crawl, and pulling himself "most" of the time. Sometimes he can't seem to quite remember how he's done it, haha...Any old way you want to cut it, DEFINITELY ahead of the game for the average baby. A preview of what's to come?? I think so....so far he's right on course in daddy's footsteps meaning running everywhere by 9 months...Don't know if Grandma's going to be able to keep up. Better get in better shape...haha

MIKE & MELODY'S FARM

Mike & Mel went to one of their farms yesterday and took pics of their corn...Soo pretty I think. Look at how close together it grows....it is soo thick...

From another angle...there is acres and acres of this...we saw it last year and it was soo neat for some reason. Guess you can tell I have never been a farm girl. Mike said that their corn has a reputation of being some of the best around....They raise this corn for feed for the cows. I didn't even know there was different kinds of corn, but apparently there is a lot I don't know...haha

Mel looks soo cute I think...(not prejudice or anything.... I miss her so)

This really shows how tall it is considering Mike is 6'3"....

Mike & Mel hope to build a home on the farm that is nearest their dairy. The dairy is about 10 miles from the border of Texas. The farm is actually in Texas. So she would be changing states again, and yet not moving over 10 miles, haha. The view from the farm is so beautiful and of course you eliminate the fly and constant dirt situations. She is living in a brand new 2800 sq. ft. mobile home right now with a HUGE yard and patio etc. I love it and she has decorated it really nice. The master bedroom has a walk in closet that is as big as one of my bedrooms and tons of storage place etc., and the kitchen is darling. I love the "feel" of being right in the thick of things and seeing the cows etc. when I am there, and for some reason you honestly don't smell the cows the way I did here in California, but I have not lived on a dairy in the middle of the summertime (as she pointed out, haha) and I guess I can understand why the plan is to eventually move to the farm. Mel started grad school today and her student teaching as well. This will take up 3 days a week for her and on the other two she will sub. The teaching situation in New Mexico is VERY different from here in California, and teachers are actually in demand. Guess that is one good thing about no longer living in California. This busy schedule for her will keep her from visiting as much as she was able to last year, but I know she needs to get this done, and I am happy for her. If all goes as planned, we are trying to get things together so we can go there over Labor Day week-end. Otherwise, it may be Christmas time before I see her.... = ( I have put it all in the Lord's hands, so we will see. In the meantime, I hope she enjoys her new venture.
