HODGEPODGE WEDNESDAY

It's time for Hodgepodge Wednesday again....Join the other's who Hodgepodge HERE..

1.  George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson...who would you like to meet and why?  I have always been fascinated with the Civil War time frame and so Abraham Lincoln would be my pick for sure.

2.  What is your favorite chain restaurant?    I guess I have a few, from fast food to sit down restaurant...let's see...I love Market Broiler, Olive Garden, Outback, and BJ's....and fast foods I like Wahoos, El Pollo Loco, and Carl's Junior.  My favorite of these is Market Broiler, though you wouldn't have to twist my arm much for any of them.

3.  I spied the question on the Bears at Home blog last week, and she gave me permission to steal borrow it.  When you look back at your life, do you imagine you'll think about the goals you failed to meet with regret?  Or will you look at what you did accomplish and say it was good?  Well obviously I hope I will look back and say it was good, and not look back with regret.  BUT....I imagine there might be a little of both.  If I stopped right now and looked back there is much I'd be pleased with.  Many goals I have managed to meet over the years with God's help.  However I STILL haven't met my "goal" weight, (since 2000 anyway) my "goal" of reading the whole Bible cover to cover, and my "goal" of flying off in an airplane without flipping out, haha.  I don't know.  I am probably (imagine that) over thinking this question.  I guess I would say as I have gone through my life my goals or dreams have shifted and changed.  What once was important to me no longer is, and likewise different things now take precedence.  I guess overall I'd say I don't want to live my life with regrets, so I try to think things through as much as I can.  I think I better move on to the next question, haha.

4.  Grapefruit-take em or leave em?  Given the choice between a grapefruit or an orange, which would you choose?  Would you prefer it served as it, or squeezed into juice?  I would DEFINITELY leave them.  DO NOT care for grapefruit.  Sooo I'd would ALWAYS chose an orange.  And I prefer them as is.  Orange juice is good, and I love it, but it always leaves my tummy a little acidic, and gives me a sugar rush so I leave it alone.  : )

5.  When was the last time you cleaned out a closet?  Is there a closet in your home that currently needs cleaning?  What are you waiting for??... I cleaned out the closet in the spare room here right before Thanksgiving.  I keep all of the grandkids toys in there and it just needed a good going over.  It felt good to get it all organized.  Which of my closets don't need cleaning would be a simpler question.  Even the before mentioned spare room toy closet needs it again...sigh.  And what am I waiting for?  A GOOD question for sure...I have never been a good closet keeper.  Maybe that should be one of my new goals??  Or would I just learn to regret never meeting it?  haha

6.  You get to have lunch with 3 famous people.  Who would you like to see around your table?  WOW...OK, let's see....I think I would love to meet Carrie Underwood, and Tim Tebow, and Merle Streep.  Random I know, haha....I guess the truth is I don't have any real desire to actually meet them, but it might be fun.

7.  On a scale of 1 - 10 how would you rate your ability to parallel park?  Oh this is easy....a 1 maybe.  I have just NEVER been able to do it very well.  I have been known to circle the block for a while when that is all that it is available.  Good thing I don't go many places where that is all there is.  Another goal I should set maybe?

LOOKS EASY HUH?
8.  Insert your own random thought here.  Well, we are at that question again where I could just go on and on.  Right now I am researching and reading about going on a gluten free diet.  I "think" it might be the source of some of my tummy issues so I am going to give it a try.  I have not totally thrown in the towel on the doc's help, but so far his suggestion only created a new problem, haha.  We will see.  I am feeling a tid bit overwhelmed upon my research however as it seems like it might be kind of restrictive.  But I am going to remain optimistic, and hopefully I will get some results with it.  The rest of my week is looking pretty busy so I really need to get off of this computer now and get to my sewing.  Hope you all had a WONDERFUL Valentine's Day.  I sure did.

  1. We both chose Lincoln for #1 - with similar reasonings. ;-)

Odd that OJ is hard on your tummy but oranges themselves are not.

  2. Have your read Tim Tebow's book yet? I just saw it on the bookstore shelf. Hmmmm.

And oh my lord....that image of someone parking parallel puts the fear of God in me. Nope, nope, nope...I'm not gonna do it.

I've not heard of Market Broiler tho. It must be good tho, if I can't twist your arm.

  4. Hey Debbie good questions. I am pretty much gluten free now. It wasn't as hard as it sounds, really.
I think it is just harder in your brain making the jump. I don't know if there are Whole Foods down there where you live, we don't have any but they carry all kinds of gluten free foods. Even Pie Crusts.
You will be shocked at how much better you feel and how much energy you have.
I don't want any regrets either. I have always been afraid of that.
I like these questions, I like who you would like to meet.
I hope you have a wonderful Day.

  7. Oh, I would love to lunch with Tim Tebow too, but didn't think about him.

Gluten free is tough but I imagine well worth the effort and there's so many recipes available and a lot of food choices.

Blessings for the remainder of the week!

  8. I love your picks for a lunch date! I think I would like that too.

I think I've said something about weight watchers before but you said it didn't work for you. It totally works for me and I know it has for my Mom and quite a few of my friends. What I like about it, is I don't feel restricted. I can eat whatever I want, as long as I stay within my points. And when I drink water, the weight comes off so much easier. Good luck Debbie!

  9. I just walked through this same list on another blog. There I picked Thomas Jefferson because I'm dying to know the whole truth & nothing but the truth about the Sally Hemmings thing.

The parallel parking thing makes me laugh. I do it quite well, but I remember how AWFUL it was teaching my teen drivers many years ago (they're in their 40s now).

  12. How fun to read your answers Deb. I would love to meet Carrie Underwood too. I remember her as the young girl who auditioned on American Idol and it was her first time on an airplane. Lots has changed for her since then. I hate grapefruit but love oranges. And parallel parking isn't too hard for me. I learned to drive in New York, after all. :)

Blessings and love and a belated happy Valentine's Day,
    Debbie

  13. Trying to use my borrowed clunker to get caught up. That's why I'm not seeing this until Friday. Yikes. Behind!

I also researched that gluten free diet a while back. There was no good reason to do it. I just thought it would be interesting to try to see if it helped the fibro or something. (Yeah, I'm random like that). I saw the restrictions and backed out of it.

I happen to love all three of the people you would like to meet. I personally think Meryl Streep is the most versatile actress of my time.

And for me? WASHINGTON, hands down. I just love reading about him.

  14. Aren't there tests that can be done to see if you should be on a gluten free diet?

These prompts are such a fun way to get to know a person a lot better. I enjoyed reading all your responses.

    Have a great weekend, Deb!
