RUN AND NOT BE WEARY....

Well somehow it is already Monday afternoon and I haven't posted anything since last Wed.  I am not sure if it is because I haven't anything new to say, I always seem to be busy doing something (though who knows what?) or if it is the old "if you haven't got anything good to say, maybe you should just say nothing at all" thing....haha...But whatever the reason I decided maybe it was time to post what's been happening over here.

Friday I ran around and got some errands done and then relaxed and got my nails done complete with a pedi.  Soo nice.  And then I finished up the blanket I made for Tella.  I forgot to take a picture of it so guess you will just have to take my word for it that it came out pretty cute.  ; )  The fabric was just so darling.  She seemed to be very pleased with it so I will try and remember to take a picture of her with it next week when I see them at church, as I am imagining she will have it with her.  Now remember I was hoping to maybe get her to switch out her old blankie for this new one.  So I said to her after I gave it to her, "So Tella, do you like your new blankie?"  And she said, "Oh yes Grandma, now I have TWO blankies."  haha...Not sure any switching out will happen, but that's OK Tella.  Grandma gets it.  But back to where I was...  After my hubby got home on Friday we headed back over to my mom's to bring them some dinner and hang out for a while.  My step dad was just too weak to play cards, so we just sat around and visited with them.  Hubby took out their trash and did a couple of little chores though for them as well.  It was really a pretty nice visit in spite of all that is going on.  My step dad has started now on Hospice and it is all so hard on my poor mom.  She continues to be confused and forgetful, and it just kind of adds to the strangest of it all.  I am grateful that there is even such a thing as hospice, and for the wonderful people that are part of this program.  I had taken my mom for some dental work on Wed., which included getting one of her teeth pulled, and she is recovering well, though she did have a big bruise on her jaw.  She still has some more work to be done so we will be making a weekly trip there for at least 3 more weeks.  Saturday Jeff and I relaxed some on the day, and then after a nice lunch out we went grocery shopping and to the nursery.  We put the groceries away, and then worked out on our porch for a while with the new plants and finally BBQ'D our dinner and watched a cute movie before going to bed kind of early.  On Sunday my youngest brother joined us for church and lunch and we spent some time with him.  The stories I could tell about my brother could fill an entire book, but I will spare you the details.  Let's just say he has led a hard life, most of it self induced.  Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see him totally surrender his life to the Lord.  I am sometimes so amazed at the lengths people might go to avoid doing that.  I have never been able to figure out why they fight it so.  But I do feel like my brother is in a pretty good place right now, so I am very encouraged, and he was downright excited to hear his nephew teach.  This morning I was to FINALLY have the small skin cancer completely removed and so I got up and hurried out the door quite early.  However AFTER I got up early and drove all the way there (it is back by our old house as I didn't really want to change docs after our move as he is not only an old friend (lived across the street from us for over 9 years) but we have been going there for over 20 years) and AFTER I was in the room and waiting for him to come in, I found out he had an emergency and was not coming in at all.  SIGH....So now I will have to repeat this whole process tomorrow afternoon.  I will admit I can't quite bear it, but again, it is what it is.  And then!  My hubby has been having some problems with his lower back for a few months now.  He has an occasional problem with his back for years, but usually it only lasts for a few days or so.  Well he recently had an MRI done and it turns out he has 3 bulging disks, 2 bone spurs, and needs to see a Neurosurgeon.  Soo not good.  I think his years of sports and college football are beginning to take their toll.  Sooo, that is all my news really.  Told you it was not much at all to say, and a lot of it was kind of draining and boring.  But sometimes I guess that is just what life is.  Let's see if I can come up with some blessings to talk about.  First of all, the weather has just been GORGEOUS!  Seriously, almost perfect.  It is 72 degrees right now and a perfectly wonderful breeze is blowing in the window, AND I can actually smell the Jasmine I have on my porch as I sit and type this.  How I love that smell!  My oldest son has come up with a new class at his studio, and has already signed up 15 young men to take it.  I am very excited for him, as this is just the added income they need so badly, and his advertisement about this hasn't even started yet!  It has all been by word of mouth, and come about in such a way that only God could have orchestrated it.  How good He is to us!    I have been soo enjoying my devotional time recently and I feel the Lord is really speaking to me in several different areas.  That's the one thing that I can always count on with a relationship with Him.  No matter what storms life sends our way, He is ALWAYS there.  Always wants my best.  Always loves me.  Always sees me through.  These verses from Isaiah have always been a favorites of mine, and I feel like they just say it all...

Isaiah 41:10  Don't be afraid, for I am with you.  Don't be discouraged, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you.  I will hold you up with My victorious right hand.

Isaiah 40:31  But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

And here is this weeks pictures of sweet baby Sam.  He can always put a smile on this Grandma's face.  Hope you all have a good week.

HE HAS LEARNED TO PULL HIMSELF UP AND SO THIS SHIRT REALLY SUITS HIM RIGHT NOW, HAHA..
SEE THE TINY LITTLE WHITE HAIRS FINALLY COMING ON TOP OF HIS HEAD?

I JUST LOVED THIS FOR SOME REASON, HAHA, "I CAN DO A HEAD ROLL NO PROBLEM MOM!"

  1. and isn't that the way it is Debbie?? Our days are full and yet it's hard to say what all we do. I'm sorry you have to repeat the dr. thing again, but trust all will be good and then you will have it behind you.

Glad to catch up with you today!

  2. Goodness, you do have a lot of "life" happening and I know all too well that can be tough. I have been up to my eyeballs with Daddy the past couple of weeks but hopefully this new move is going to be a good dose of medicine for him. It is so tough dealing with aging parents.

Hate to hear about your husbands back. I've had my share of lower back issues but nothing the chiropractor couldn't take care of.

Always enjoy your posts, very uplifting and encouraging. Special blessings to you!

  3. I can relate to the full days but when trying to think of what I have accomplished I am hard pressed to come up with anything. Just the stuff of life, running errands, taking care of folks, running a home etc, fills up the days quick doesn't it? Sam is getting big quick...have a great week

  4. Hi Debbie, I always love getting caught up with you-just like we are chatting on the phone. You stay so busy but you have lots of folks to help with. I'm sorry about your mom's failing health and your step dad's.
I'm just finally settling into life back here in Colorado. I've been dogsitting and running around doing family things. Hope you have a good Tuesday.
    Hugs & love, Noreen

  7. To repeat what you say.."it is what it is" and then you always glowingly point back to the Lord. I have learned this so well from you.

Hugs as you are in this season, and rejoicing with you as God holds you and gives you times of rest in Him...and all those joys from all those grandchildren...the blanket, my mom did the same for one of mine with a pillow.

Have a wonderful week...praying for you before I leave my computer.

  8. somehow you always sound so sunny
and positive even in the midst of
trials. if that doesn't draw your
brother to the Lord, i don't know what
    else will!

  9. Doesn't it make you pause and wonder why some people choose a hard, hard life instead of just turning to the Lord? I always wonder why that is, I do hope hearing is his nephew speak moves something in his heart.
At least he was at church with you.I love the picture with Sam on his head, that is a riot.
I hope your visit is over quick.
I will be praying for you. Drive Safe.

  10. Enjoyed reading all about your week! NOW I understand the comment you left on my blog today. I hope the procedure was painless! The shirt Sam is wearing is so funny. When my son was little he had this shirt that said, "I think my name is No-No." I always laughed when I put in that shirt! Enjoy your day!

  11. He really does look like he's going to roll right over in a somersault, doesn't he? He'll be doing that and more in no time.

I can relate to the brother situation since it reminds me of my BIL. I'm thrilled to be able to praise that he actually DID surrender his life to Christ a few years ago. What a different God has made in his life.

  12. Oh, and I probably should have predicted the blankie thing. We even tried to give our daughter an exact replica of her "Baby" (puffalump) but she just called it "Extra Baby" and chose the rag that I could NOT get clean anymore instead.

  13. Always love reading of your week, Debbie, I will continue to pray for your mom and step dad, as well as your dh and brother, I think him going to hear your son preach is a very big step. I will also pray for you to be strengthened through this time. The scriptures you have given are some that I have clung to so many times.

Sam is not only adorable but funny too,I like the photo of him on his hands and toes. And that shirt he is wearing is way to cute. thanks for sharing your week,
    be encouraged in Him today,
    Hugs,
    Sue

  14. Debbie, have read both missed posts...seems as if there's a whole lot going on. Sometimes "one day at a time" isn't short enough..."one hour at a time" would be better.

So glad that your surgery is over and that the doc assures you it'll heal without leaving much of a scar. And, as one with back troubles, I am sorry that your hubby is having troubles and pray that he'll have relief. I can certainly recommend the iced gel bag for 15 minute applications while seated in a recliner with knees above hips. I hope that the docs will have something more permanently helpful.

When our parents are struggling, it's not possible for it not to affect us. It just proves the intense connection that we have and how much our lives are intertwined. God knows all needs and will bring you safely through.

Your little grandson is adorable and your little grandgirlie is a sharp one. My niece had a blankie that was shredded and nasty. She finally gave it up because her grandmother had a discussion about how helpful it was and suggested that grandma might need it more than she did. What a sweet gesture to give up her blankie and never asked for it again. (Niece is 30 and showing no ill effects. Ha!)
