WE ARE HOME...

Well, we're back!  I don't know if I can express enough how grateful I am that we were able to take this little trip.  How wonderful it was!  The drive, like I said, was a LONG one, but it did go MUCH faster on the way home.  Not sure how that could be, other than we did it a little smarter this time and packed both a breakfast and a lunch to eat on the road, along with a couple of little snacks, meaning we only had to stop to get gas and use the bathroom.  We had such a hard time finding fast (who wants to take the time on a long road trip for a sit down restaurant?) food places where I could eat.  My stomach bothered me kind of badly on both the way there, and the way back, and I wanted to be really careful.  But whatever the reason was, we seemed to sail home.

Sam's dedication on Sun. went just wonderfully.  I was so glad we were able to be there for that.  I enjoyed their service, and was happy to meet their pastor and friends.  There was LOTS of time for visiting and enjoying and loving and I cherished just every minute we were there.  Now I just have to take a moment or two to brag (sorry!) about little Sam.  He just may be the happiest baby I have ever been around.  In the entire 5 days we were there I think he cried twice.  Once when he bumped his little head, and once when he got a little over tired.  Other than that he smiled, talked, explored, loved on, and laughed his days away.  He was VERY busy, but VERY easy to keep entertained.  He sleeps wonderfully (even though his naps were sometimes short) and was very serious about his food, haha.  It was nice to watch my girl in her home too.  How proud I am of the mothering skills she has acquired, and the well kept home she manages.  She always was a good cook, but she has improved there too.  I knew that Mel had to make some SERIOUS changes when she married her dairy farmer and moved to the country and 1000 miles away from everyone and everything she grew up with here in California, and honestly I wondered how hard that might be for her.  I will tell the truth and say I am not sure I could have done it.  It is a very different way of life from mine.  But she has adjusted and is doing soo well.  Her husband is a busy, busy, guy, but he loves and cares for his little family well, and helps out A LOT with little Sam whenever he can. How Sam adores his daddy.  All in all just what any mother would want to see when she goes to visit her daughter.  A happy, well cared for home, and a thriving baby and marriage.  Doesn't get much better I am thinking.  Makes leaving them behind a little easier, but I am going through some serious withdrawals this morning nonetheless.  I will show you the best of the photos I got...

THEY HAD TWO SCREENS UP FRONT BEHIND WHERE THE PASTORS SPEAKS THAT THEY HAD PICTURES OF SAM PLAYING DURING THE DEDICATION.  IT WAS SOO NEAT.  IT STARTED WITH THIS ONE OF HIS NAME...

It is GOOD to be home, but I have lots to do today.  I am on my way out the door to go to my parents.  They did OK while we were gone, but things are hard over there nonetheless.  Thank You Jesus for this time with my girl, and for watching over everyone else while we were gone.  ENJOY your week!

  3. So glad to read that you are home safely! But it was so good that you were able to be there for this special event.

I'm amazed that your daughter has adapted to this new way of life too. But that's what love can do, right? She is beautiful; inside and out. And I love that both she and her husband go to church together and are on the same page.

Sam is truly adorable! I loved each photo. That naked backside is just too cute.

    blessings and love,
    Debbie

  4. What a wonderful time you had Debbie. I think Sam looks so much like you-the same smile. He is adorable and I loved seeing the pastor in cowboy boots-so cool. I knew the time blew by quickly; life is short so I'm glad you got to go visit.
    Praying for your mom.
    Hugs, Noreen

  9. He has the most precious smile!! I love it that he's such a happy baby. I'm not surprised either, since he was with his grandma the whole time. I would be smiley too!

Their church looks like it would be right up my alley. There's something that you can even see from the pictures that is *right* there.

    Welcome home!
