MY WILD DAY!

Well, I was so excited for my day on Sat. that I almost "ruined" it, haha...Let me back up a bit.  I woke early and rushed around getting done what I had to get done and hurried to my car so that I could meet my sister at Joanne's by 9 am.  Now the one we were going to (by far the best! ~ soo big) is a good half hour away from here.  I was right on time.  I put my Christian praise music on my CD player and broke into loud song (where no one can hear me...always best ~ smile) on my drive down.  As I pulled into the rapidly filling parking lot I realized I had forgotten the neatly clipped coupons.  You heard me!  I forgot the coupons....so not like me.  I called my sister who was already in the store, and told her the news.  We quickly decided I would just have to go back.  They were worth too much.  Sooo I turned around and headed back.  A GOOD hour later I was finally hurrying into the store.  Now at shortly after 10 the place was packed with bargain hunters like myself.  My sister had drawn our fabric cutting numbers upon entering the store (a pre-arranged plan) and we didn't have a lot of time now until our number would be up, but to start all over again and draw new numbers would mean adding on a good two hours or more until our turn.  I decided to be quick.  Yeah, what a joke, lol.  The aisles were soo packed it was almost impossible to get down them, especially in my electric cart.  Bolts of fabric kept falling out of my basket on some of my sharp turns, and I spent almost as much time off the cart as on it. I never did find an empty chair at the pattern counter either.  But somehow I was ready when my number was called...well kind of anyway.  I decided to make Christmas fleece blankets for their houses for all of the girls.  One for Mel, Leah and Larissa.  They are soo nice and warm to snuggle with (which would have had a much better feel imagining this if it hadn't been 95 that day!), plus they look soo cozy and cute displayed on your couch during the season along with your other Christmas decorations.   Now here is where I would have been showing you the pics of the fabrics I am using, except my camera battery just died and there is no time now to re-charge it.  But you can trust me, sooo good.  I also got some fabric to make Sam a small Mickey Mouse one as I just couldn't resist.  His love for Mickey right now is huge.  I also am going to make him a little button down the front short sleeved Christmas fabric shirt of Mickey as well.  That is I was going to until I went to cut the fabric out this morning to get started, and somehow it never got put into my bag.  Now I was charged for it as I quickly found out on my receipt, but I can't find the fabric anywhere....sigh.  So now I have to run over to the local Joanne's and see if I can't find some more of it.   I also got fabric to make Jeffie some new PJ's, 2 absolutely darling Christmas books for Sam, a rotary cutter, and an Ott Light for my sewing machine.  I really did well.  And with the sales and coupons I saved almost 200 dollars!  Doesn't get much better.   So now I just have to get this ALL made by Dec. first.  Think I will make it?  How is it that there is only two weeks until we leave for Thanksgiving at Mel's?  I was feeling soo organized and now suddenly I am feeling a little panic.  I made my schedule this morning, and as long as I stick to it I will be fine.  We have something going almost every Friday and Sat. between now and Christmas.  To tell you the truth running back over to Joanne's today could throw me off right off the bat, sooo I'd better get off and get cracking.   Hope you all have a wonderful week!

  1. I have days like that. We had one like that yesterday, John, my daughter and I. It helps us appreciate the calmer ones. So glad that you were able to get the job done and I know that you'll be showing us that fabric soon. Hmmm...makes me wonder about cuddle blankets for the boys.

  2. Wow you are doing so good. I am assembling my things to make but that is as far as I have got. I can't wait to see how everything looks. That is so awesome you saved that much money. Your schedule sounds great. I need to do that too if I hope to get finished by Christmas.
I will be so glad when the weather cools off. Are you getting Santa Ana winds today? I hate when they blow.
Have a nice busy week. :)

Are you doing jammies this year too?
Forgetting the coupons sounds just like something I would've done!
They were well worth driving back for.

  7. I hate days like that. But the good news is that you saved $200!!!! Yay for you! I can't wait to see what you do with all that you bought.

If you haven't headed for JoAnn's yet, perhaps you can save yourself the aggravation and order online? Of course, there's a trade off of time lost waiting for it to be shipped to you. ;-)

  9. Hi Debbie, Well I pray you found that fabric yesterday! I did not attempt to go to the sale; didn't have anything major to purchase-well one thing but I've given up on it-a craft table for my sewing room that is counter height for cutting but it is costly. I can't wait to see pics of all you make-you are one talented lady!
    Have a blessed Tuesday.
    Love, Noreen

  10. I applaud all seamstresses. It's an interest and/or talent I do not have, but I so appreciate when someone else does.

I do understand how plans are often derailed. Sometimes, with 20/20 hindsight, I can actually see how it all worked out better in the long run.
