I've let a couple of days go by thinking I might be able to better express the heaviness of my heart over the horrifying tragedy in Connecticut. It just hasn't happened. As I have continued to read and hear just what these poor little babies and people went through the more horrified and heartbroken I have become. There really is just so little you can say. The world we live in is a dark one. Satan roars about as a hungry lion destroying where he can and bringing about great sorrow and pain. It is and continues to be his mission.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Only Jesus can bring healing from our wounds and broken hearts. Only the great comforter can fill our spirits with peace and hope. Only His light can penetrate the darkness of the sin and sorrow of this world, and provide lasting guidance and gentle mercy as we journey towards our eternities with Him.
And so we do the only thing we can do. We pray for all those whose hearts have been broken into a thousands of little pieces and hope that they turn to the only one who can carry such a load. He is willing and able and calls us with a heart that wants only to wrap us up in His arms and soothe and love away our pain.
John 16:33 "These thing I have spoken to you, that in Me you have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
May the God of peace and love bring comfort and healing to all those hurting from this evil and sorrow and keep them forever in His light. Hug your loved ones extra hard today!
Debbie, I have felt the exact same thing-that there is really nothing we can do or say except pray. One of my sil's brother and family live 30 miles from Newtown, it could have been their children-it could have been our grands. This Tuesday many are in blogland are going to be silent and simply pray all day for those left behind.

It didn't take long, after finding out what happened, for me to realize that I had to stop watching/reading about the events on Friday. My heart just couldn't take it.

Hi Debbie, It would seem our hearts are experiencing the very same thing; I love the verses you shared. I am thankful that the children died quickly and didn't linger with horrible pain. I also pray that those in Newtown will come to know the Lord through this tragedy.

You're right! I think the only way these families can get through this horrible tragedy is with the Lord guiding them. Great verse!
