WONDERFUL WEEK-END!

We had such a GOOD week-end.  Jammed packed for sure, but so good.  On Friday night we had dinner with some old friends, and visited and chatted the evening away.  It was wonderful.  On Sat. we slept in (just a little bit, I never last very long, haha) and after breakfast we left and went to the fabric store.  Yes, the fabric store, AND! it was hubby's idea.  I promise it was!  He decided he wants me to make one of "those" blankets (as he calls them) for his dad for Christmas.  So we picked out his favorite football team (Raiders ~ REALLY? haha) fabric, and I think it will be really nice in blacks and grays.  After that we went to our favorite restaurant and had lunch.  We hadn't been there in many weeks, and it was just as good as we remembered. After lunch we decided to see the movie Lincoln.  It was REALLY good, and I do recommend it to anyone looking for a good movie.  I love Sally Field and she was excellent in it, but then, when isn't she?  After the movie we headed over to our oldest son's house to pick up Jeffie who was to spend the night with us as he was going to Capri's birthday party the next day.  They were just about to decorate their Christmas tree, so we sat down and enjoyed them all doing just that.  I just sooo enjoyed watching the little ones with their excitement and enthusiasm.  It was DEFINITELY what was missing when we put up ours. ; )  When they were finally done, we loaded up Jeffie and headed for home.  But we decided to stop and get his hair cut first.  Grandma just has a "THING" for neatly trimmed hair, haha.  Anyway, then we decided to have dinner and tried out a new place (for us anyway) that they just opened up called, Lazy Dog. Jeffie delighted in the name, and we all enjoyed ourselves and the food was good.  When we finally got home, Jeffie put on his new Christmas jammies, and posed for a couple of pics for me in front of the tree.  I was REALLY pleased with the way they fit him.  Just big enough to be super comfy, and plenty of room for some shrinkage which I know will happen.  We then made bowls of ice cream and sat down to watch Elf on TV.  We all enjoyed it.  Here are some cute pics of Jeffie.

HE IS SOO CUTE!  I AM WONDERING HOW MANY YEARS  I HAVE GOT LEFT THAT HE WILL EVEN WANT CHRISTMAS JAMMIES, AND WILL STILL POSE HAPPILY IN FRONT OF THE TREE LIKE THIS?  MANY I HOPE!

On Sun. we got up early and headed down to San Diego for church.  The Service was soo good, and the message a timely one.  After service we had to go to Target as the gift I ordered 12 "business" days ago for Capri had NEVER arrived.  It is one of the reasons I hate online shopping.  Sometimes they come right away and everything is fine, and other times there are situations like this.  I have ordered many things online in the last week or so and now I am concerned they all make it here by Christmas.  Anyway, we bought the same gift (thank goodness they had it!) and will now have to return the other one when it finally gets here!  Soo annoying.  Anyway, after Target we went to James's house for lunch and then we headed over to their gymnastics gym for Capri's eighth birthday party.  What a fun time that was!  The kids just loved it!  There were 13 children and they pretty much had the gym almost completely to themselves.  A coach stayed with the kids the whole time and helped them do the various things.  Climbed ropes and walls.  Swung from the uneven bars and dropped into a giant piles of foam.  They jumped on trampolines, and played games.  The kids got quite the workout.  After they finished they snacked on cupcakes and punch and she opened her presents.  They all had a wonderful time!  Capri's actual birthday is not until the 14th, but the women's Christmas dessert is on that Friday night.  I am looking soo forward to that too.  It is hard to have your birthday soo close to the holiday's, but they have always done such a good job of giving her a special day anyway.  Here are some cute pictures of the day...

When the party was over at 4 we headed home.  By the time we dropped Jeffie back off and actually walked into our little home, I was one tired Grandma, but in such a good way.  How I thank God for week-ends and times such as these.  I know how blessed I am and I have Him to thank for it!

Today I got my nails done (in a snazzy Christmas way!) and then had lunch with my girlfriend and exchanged our gifts.  We have been friends for 49 years!  Is that even possible?  But that is what it has been, and how I thank God for her too.  She gets me like no other.  Tomorrow I will pick up mom and we will get our hair done and we will be all set for a while.  Just a few more things to do and maybe mom and I will do a little baking.  Hope all of you have a wonderful week!

  7. Those busy, busy weekends can be so exhausting, but when they include the grands, it's so, so worth it, isn't it? And that sounds exactly like the kind of weekend that you had. ;-)

We want to go see the movie Lincoln, but I'm not sure that we'll have time before Christmas - hope it's still in theaters after.

  8. How did I miss the post that Melody was going to have a baby?? Congratulations!! My middle two are 20 months apart and I still think it was my favorite age gap. Those two are still so close.
It looks like you just had the best weekend. I think it is so cute your hubby wants a blanket for his Dad. I just loved that.

  12. Well, because I am so late getting around these days, I will start with a huge CONGRATULATIONS on that previous post!! I would put this there, but I didn't want you to miss it. I am so happy for you and for Melody and her sweet little family. I think that's the perfect age difference for siblings. As my mom used to say, two who play together are even more fun than one who plays alone.

As to this post, your cup just plain runs over. Your grandchildren are all so cute, and I hope your Jeffie never ever loses that smile and happiness that you can see in his face.

I loved the birthday party too. What a wonderful idea.

  13. I"m sitting here with tears not from sadness but from joy, Debbie! enjoying reading of these special memories that you and your dh are making
not only with the grandchildren but with each other. Life is so precious and moments are so fleeting, that's why I know of the importance of documenting with photos. When our older grandchildren call they always tell of a special memory. Just recently while cleaning cabinets I came across boxes of such wonderful memories with our family. So, Dear One, just keep right on making those memories, and thank you for sharing them with us and for allowing me to enjoy them with you.
Jeffie looks wonderful in his new PJS. Just look at that smile. Sending Happy birthday wishes to Capri, love the fact that she is happy about "Jesus Calling". A fantastic book!!
I only recently got DH to go to a fabric shop with me, at first he seemed out of place but after a while he just fit right in. The things they do for us! You know we are loved a lot!!~smile~

I read your previous post, and am so thrilled with Mel, Michael, and Sam's wonderful news! I will be praying for them.

Thanks for coming by, I am sorry that I haven't been around here in blogland but just have been so busy, I think of you so often.
    much love,
    Sue

  14. Any weekend that includes so many child-related experiences is, by far, the best! Some days I even wish I could jump in all those foam bins alongside the little ones :)
