ALREADY FRIDAY!

Friday already!  I can hardly believe it!  Mom and I have had a pretty good week.  We went for x-rays yesterday followed by a visit to the Neurosurgeon and all is progressing well.  She will go back in another 3 weeks for more x-rays and another visit,  and then hopefully that will be the end of it.  Meanwhile she is still having to wear the "contraption" as she calls it, and I will be as gleeful as she is to be free of it.  Most of the time she just wears the soft neck brace, but whenever she is out or moving around much she needs to wear the bigger gear.  And between being on the antibiotics and NOT being on any diabetic medication, she has felt SOO much better this week.  We just got back from her regular docs visit and her UTI has cleared completely up, and the doctor said her sugar levels we kept track of for a week off her medication were not too bad, so for now we can just watch and see what happens.  She doesn't have to go back for at least a month!  YAY!  I have been pretty diligent about watching what mom eats, (and I am doing it too!) so that has helped a lot too I think.  The doc told me on Mon that I have pre-diabetes, so it has become more important than ever to watch my carbs and of course sugars.  I have seemed to follow my mom in most of her health issues. ( getting pregnant REALLY easy haha, gall bladder removal, hysterectomy, breast cancer, high blood pressure, and now possibly diabetes...sigh)  Of course I HAD to add on a few of my own as well.  My mom has always been tiny...wish I could say the same.   But because weight has NEVER been much of an issue at all for my mom, she is not used to having to be careful about what she eats.  Oh well, she had 80 years of eating ANYTHING she wanted is the way I look at it, lol.  I on the other hand have had to watch what I ate since high school!  Her strength is coming back slowly but surely, and so she is starting to get around better too.  This has been a LONG HARD couple of months, but I am soo grateful she is doing so much better, and is well on her way now.  I thank each and every on of you for yours prayers, and comments and emails of encouragement.  I have soo appreciated it.

NEEDING A TRIM PRETTY BAD HERE! HAHA
I got to see my sweet Jeffie yesterday as I decided since I was down in their area yesterday anyway (had an errand to run down there after the neurosurgeon) that I would swing by and get him a little early from school (Thursdays are their minimum day) and run him over for a quick hair cut.   Now in the past whenever I have picked him up from school early (only about 15 min. but that SEEMS long to him!) I have made more of an adventure out of it by going to the latest kid movie, and then gotten the hair cut, and then maybe even dinner afterwards, but since I had still of course had mom with me I had planned on just the hair cut.  But Jeffie of course saw me come into the office to get him (I had called his mom who had called the school, so he was in there waiting not knowing WHO was coming) and says out loud excitingly, "Oh Grandma, I didn't know YOU were coming, what movie are we seeing?!"  haha.  He knows his grandma pretty well.   Actually I felt kind of bad.  So I told him of course that Great grandma was in the car and she wasn't up to a movie yet so we were just getting a hair cut.  That sweet boy said, "Oh that's OK grandma, we'll do it some other time."  I told him that we would stop at a drive through though on the way and get him a strawberry shake (know him pretty well too!) which I am sure helped. I dropped him off at home about an hour later, looking soo handsome and mom and I headed home.  It was a LONG day for her, and LOTS AND LOTS of walking for me, but we both survived just fine.

What a storm we are having today!  Lightening, thunder, and hail and temps down in the 40's (pretty cold for us Californians)!  Thankfully I had just gotten mom in the door at the doc's office when the hail started coming down, so that worked out pretty well.  We have another birthday party on Sunday for our sweet Donatella Valentina (our 4 year old Valentine's Day birthday girl) so even more grandkid time coming up soon as well.  Lindsey and Jeffie will stay the night with us Sat. night so they can go with us too to the party.  I am looking forward to all of it!  I am sure I will manage a picture or two, haha.  Hope you all had a GOOD week, and have something fun on the horizon for this week-end!  Blessings to you all!

And of course I had to add on a cute pic or two of Sam....

MEL HAS THE SWING IN HIS ROOM STILL THAT SHE USED WHEN HE WAS AN INFANT AND HE IS OBSESSED WITH IT FOR SOME REASON SO SHE PUT HIM IN IT YESTERDAY... I LOVE THE SHEEPISH LOOK ON HIS FACE LIKE HE KNOWS HE'S TOO BIG FOR IT NOW, HAHA

  8. Oh the host of health issues! I get it. Currently, I'm also pre-diabetic and have to watch my food intake (at least I should be watching it). Honestly, I'm kind of like "What's next?"

I'm glad for the time you get to spend with your grandchildren. I wish my parents were closer, but I am grateful to see them about once every 6 weeks or so.

    Sam sure is growing fast!

    Blessed Sabbath rest, sister.

  9. Lovely to read good reports! Hopefully, your mom can keep right ont trucking without having to take all that medication.

Jeffie is so cute. I'm sure that he was just as happy with a new haircut and a strawberry shake. (He's a lot like John. Those two things would totally make John's day.)

Keep having fun! I think that activity keeps us younger.
