4TH OF JULY HAPPENINGS

Hope you all had as nice of a 4th as we did!  Did you ever have one of those days or holidays where everything just went REALLY well, everyone had such a GOOD time, and you know it will go down in the memory books as one of the best times?  Well, if you have, then you know how ours went yesterday.  We all gathered at my oldest sons house for a barbecue, swimming, basketball, ping pong, a birthday celebration, and then finally fireworks.  The weather couldn't have been nicer.  It was warm for sure, but there was plenty of shade by the pool and there was a nice breeze blowing.  The food was GREAT!  Steak, hamburgers and hot dogs, tossed salad (full of summer veggie goodies) fresh fruit, yummy baked beans, chips, dips, and cupcakes AND cake were all enjoyed.  The cousins ran around and played and swam and just generally enjoyed each other's company, and the adults did the same, haha.  As twilight came we sat around outside (while the little ones were still running and playing) and listened to my oldest grandson play the guitar and sing.  Then as it got dark we all drove over to a REALLY good spot to watch the local high school's firework show.  I got pictures when I thought of it, but I did miss some good opportunities I am afraid.  I am sure you all know how that goes.  But here are some of those I did capture.

And here is a quick glimpse of Mel's little fam in New Mexico.  Wish they could have been there too!

Lindsey came home with grandma and grandpa and we have a few fun things planned to do today with her.  Tomorrow will find us all at the beach to celebrate my younger brother's 50th birthday with a cookout and then Jeffie will come home with us to spend a few days.  How blessed I am to have my family I know.  My grandkids fill my heart with gratitude, purpose, and love.  Hope you are all enjoying your summers!  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

  1. Oh it does sound like a day to be tucked away in memory and brought out often! What cute grands. I was just looking at the grand line-up in your sidebar and noticed that you had to wait for a new grand for four years once! They are all such fine looking kids and I know how proud you are of them all. How nice to have a grandgirlie visiting now! Is she going to learning how to sew?

  2. Wow, can't imagine such family fun. Our son and his wife are at camp this week and of course, our daughter lives far away, so we had no one. We got together with friends and had a nice meal, but nothing beats family. You are truly blessed! Enjoy the rest of your long weekend!

  3. You are so fortunate to have your family close by (except Mel). You are creating wonderful memories for the children that they will always cherish. I look back on my childhood with fond memories of cousins and relatives. It sounds like a fun time.

    Blessings and love,
