WEEK-END WRAP UP AND SOME SLIDSE SHOWS

Well this was certainly a LONG and wonderfully busy week-end.  I am not going to lie.  I am tired this afternoon.  We didn't hang around after church today so I decided to sort through the pictures I had of my brother's birthday party at the beach yesterday.  We all had such a good time!  The weather was good, the company was better and the food was plentiful!  I did have a SUPER hard time walking on the sand with my knees.  Honestly once I got to my chair I was afraid I might just have to start living there as I didn't know if I could make it back to our car, (and that would be with hubby going and getting it as it was parked a couple of miles away!) it was soo bad.  He had let me out near to where the party was and I was doing well until I hit the sand.  Within a couple of steps I realized my dilemma but I pressed on.  Good thing all I had to do was sit there once I got there!  However, it has made me decide that it is FINALLY time to get the knee replacement surgery done.  I was SUPPOSE to do it (for those of you who haven't been following me for a while) almost 3 years ago (had it scheduled and everything) when I got diagnosed with breast cancer and NATURALLY that took precedence.  Then, after I recovered from that surgery, my step dad had fallen quite ill, my mother had a stroke, and they needed my help and I decided to put it off for a while longer.  THEN!  my step dad passed away and my mom moved in here and my last year was spent totally working her.  Well, since my sweet mom has moved on to heaven, it looks like nothing is stopping me now so I guess I will get this done.  I have such mixed feelings of course.  I can't wait to have it over and done with and have my mobility back.  Truthfully, I REALLY hate being soo limited on how far I can walk and what I can do.  It has become a REAL problem for me.  However, I do dread the surgery, the pain, the recovery, and the fact that I will just be REALLY incapacitated for a while.  And I have to do BOTH knees!  One is as bad as the other!  Which means as soon as I recover from one, I will have to turn around and do the other!  Sooo ~ enough about that.  This post was suppose to be about the party.   We didn't get home till around 10 and I was good and tired (and my knees were hurting soo bad I almost couldn't fall asleep, even with Tylenol and ice pacs).  I did NOT want to take my good camera to the beach, which was just as well as I would have never been able to walk around and take pictures anyway, so all of these in the video (and there are not many!) were from my hubby's i-phone and my grand daughter Lindsey's as well.  But you get the general idea.  There are NO pictures of the football game they played, nor most of the people there either, haha.  None of the food either, but I think the ones they took did capture the fun of the day.  (don't forget to hit FULL SCREEN and escape to get out,  lol)

I also finished up the slide show I was putting together of sweet baby Luke, but was waiting for his professional newborn pictures before I did.  So here is that.

I am going to finish up everything I am making for my youngest son's new baby as the shower is next Sunday.  I am having soo much fun playing with the decorative stitches and adding little touches to the nighties and blankets.   Other than that I have a pretty quite week coming up.  Kind of looking forward to it.  I am reading a REALLY good book too, but I will tell you more about that next time.  Hope you are enjoying your summers.  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

  1. Wow your last couple of years have been full haven't they....I know the thought of surgery is not fun but when you regain mobility (and get rid of the pain) it will be worth it!!!. Love the photos

  2. The prospect of surgery (back to back no less) is overwhelming, but just keep reminding yourself that it will be worth it when you can get around more comfortably.

  3. Wow it has been a really, really busy three years hasn't it. I must have started reading you at that beginning. I always wondered about your knee surgery.
My hip is the same way. Totally worn out and the doctor couldn't understand why my hip was so worn out and I couldn't figure out either then I held a baby in my arms and realized holding babies on my hip just wore mine out.
Do you think you will have it done soon. I can't imagine both of them being done at the same time.

  6. Bravo! Brava! Or whatever you're supposed to say when someone gets applause. I'm so glad you are stepping up (albeit gingerly) and getting it done. My mom had hers done, and not many months later she climbed to the top of the lighthouse on Nags Head (NC). Let's just start praying in advance that all goes extremely well, and if you need a cyber nudge to plow through the PT afterward, I'll volunteer.

    Go, Debbie, Go!

And now THIS Debbie is going to look at the slide show.
