WEEK-END WRAP UP!

I am hopefully going to post quickly here as I have LOTS to accomplish on this day.  We enjoyed a wonderful week-end though, and I especially wanted to tell you about Sat.  My sister Diane came over and together we went to the Long Beach Quilters convention.  OH..MY...GOODNESS... is all I can say.  I have never been to one before, and when I read about it I just knew I had to go.  It was even better than I thought it might be.  Soo many of the quilts were works of art and honestly looked like paintings.  I didn't think to take pictures until we were through with most of them, but I did manage to take a couple.  But then the quilt stores and vendors that were there were sooo much fun too.  I "tried" to be good, haha, but I did purchase some wonderful fabric, and a couple of patterns, and a tool or two that looked like must haves, haha.  Don't know if we even really saw it all, (it was HUGE!) but we were there close to 4 hours.  I hobbled around on a cane (kind of helps, but with BOTH knees shot, not enough) but my sister graciously consented to pushing me around in mom's old wheel chair when I needed a rest.  I felt terrible having her do this, but 4 hours of walking and my knees just don't go together well, and I soo wanted to see this!  Soo thank you Diane, it was MUCH appreciated! Hopefully by the next convention my surgeries will be behind me and I will be unstoppable getting around...grin. I did gather some wonderful new ideas and tips, and am anxious to put some of them to use.  Sun. hubby and I decided not to attend church as my son James is of course home with his new son.  Soo we tuned in our old pastor, Dave Rosales, and listened to him on-line.  He was a blessing as always. Afterwards I headed over to Joanne's for a couple of quick things, and hubby worked around the house on a few chores we wanted to get done before my daughter and her family arrive on Wed.  I spent the rest of the day sewing.  I have a couple of tote purses I want to make today (3 if I am REALLY quick, haha) as I want to give them as gifts this week-end.  I know I have mentioned it a time or two, but I am soo excited for Melody to get here.  I am anxious to see and love on those babies, AND Lord willing our whole family will be here on Sat.  I am just as eager to get my hands on Vincent. I have only held him for around 3 minutes or so, and that just doesn't seem right does it?  I need to wash all the throw rugs, bedding, and extra blankets today, along with the regular wash, so I honestly better get busy.  Hope you all enjoy your days!  If I get a chance, I might come back on here and add a picture of a finished tote purse, but that is NOT a promise, haha.

NO IDEA WHO THE RANDOM WOMAN IS IN THIS PICTURE, HAHA, BUT THIS QUILT WAS SOO POPULAR THIS WAS THE BEST I COULD DO.  I SEE NOW IT IS NOT FOCUSED WELL EITHER, BUT TRUST ME, IT WAS GORGEOUS!

AND THIS PICTURE DOES NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO SHOWCASING THIS STUNNING QUILT!  THE TINY DETAIL WAS HONESTLY JUST UNBELIEVABLE...DIDN'T NOTICE THAT POLE UNTIL NOW EITHER, HAHA...GOOD THING I AM NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER
FINISHED THIS UP THIS WEEK-END...HUBBY'S PHONE TOOK THIS SO YOU CAN SEE IT BETTER THAN MINE.  LOVE THE COLORS IN THIS ONE

THIS ONE IS NOT QUITE DONE, STILL NEEDS THE BORDER, BUT LOVED THE FABRICS IN IT.  PURCHASED THEM AT THE CONVENTION.  THEY CAME FROM A MODA LAYER CAKE AND THERE IS ENOUGH TO MAKE A SEVERAL MORE AS WELL.  I AM WISHING NOW I MADE THIS A LITTLE LONGER.  OH WELL, MAYBE THE NEXT ONE
SWEET VINCENT ALL COZY ON A COUPLE OF GRANDMA'S BLANKETS.  SOO PRECIOUS!
IS THIS HILARIOUS OR WHAT?  HE NEVER WANTS TO TAKE HIS BOOTS OFF.  SHE IS NOT REALLY ACTIVELY POTTY TRAINING HIM YET, BUT HE DOES LIKE TO SIT UP THERE ONCE IN A WHILE!

HE HAS BEGUN TAKING HIS NAPS ON HIS BIG BOY BED.  TOO CLOSE TO THE EDGE FOR THIS GRANDMA'S NERVES.  AFTER THEIR TRIP TO CALIFORNIA, SHE WILL TRY TO TRANSFER HIM TO THIS BED AT NIGHTS TOO AS LUKE IS ABOUT READY TO BE TRANSFERRED FROM THE BASSINET TO THE BIGGER CRIB THAT SAM IS STILL USING.
LUKE SLEPT LIKE THIS ALL THROUGH CHURCH SERVICE YESTERDAY!  SUCH A GOOD BOY.  HE IS GETTING SOO BIG!

Well, here it is...one down, 2 to go.  I am not going very quickly.  Maybe the next two will go faster now that I've got the kinks out, haha.  Think I will make the next two a little longer.

IT IS LINED WITH THE SAME FABRIC AS THE BOTTOM OF THE BAG...THIS IS BLURRY I KNOW..SIGH...I REALLY NEED TO GET OUT MY GOOD CAMERA

  3. Oh, what fun and how sweet of your sister to accomodate you. I'm telling you, you will be so thrilled when you get those knees replaced. I have so, so many friends that have had knee replacement and they have all done so well.

Enjoy this special week of time with your family.

You are a whiz-getting that bag done already and another runner started.
The quilt with all the miniature quilts looks like a lot of work, but so unique.
I hope you get your knees done soon. My sis had hers done and she's like a new woman!

  6. I had a quilter friend who wouldn't miss the major quilting conventions and the smaller little quilting gatherings. I think once it gets in your blood, you are held captive. You seem to be getting a good start on it, and I'm sure all of your blogger friends look forward to seeing your projects come to completion as I do. And OH those babies! You are a blessed grandmother for sure.

  7. Oh I would have loved to go to that Quilt show. The ones you pictured are just beautiful!! I wish I knew how to quilt. What a blessing it will be to have your whole family in one place together. My family that I haven't seen in 6 years will be here in 2 weeks so I am having a lot of things to get done myself. I've missed them so much. Sadly my oldest nephew won't be joining us but what can you do, I"ll take what I can get.. Oh I LOVE the bags you make! Do you sell them?

  9. I realized yesterday that I had come here, read this, but then got so sidetracked looking for news of your newest grandbaby that I forgot to come back and say what I wanted to say here.

So... I'm saying it now: He is so adorable on the potty with the boots that my toes are curling! That's so funny!

(And I think you have a sister who rocks, just like me. I hope you can get the needed knee repairs very soon.)

  10. When I first saw that picture of that first quilt I thought, Wow you are incredible you just started quilting. :) If I hadn't have been babysitting my grandsons I would have went to that quilt show. Just think we could have met. Maybe next year.
I am so glad you had such a nice weekend and I am so glad you get to hold babies this next weekend.
Have a nice week. Your sewing is so awesome.

  11. Sounds like a wonderful quilt show; you should look at Road to California(I think it Longbeach or Ontario-somewhere in So.Ca-lol)...it was the best and biggest show I've ever been to. I bought two kits in Alaska and want to finish my last quilt before I start on a new one.
I'm impressed with your jumping right in. Love seeing the boys.
    Hugs, Noreen

  12. I can almost sense the excitement in your words as I read this post. Like a little one in a colorful candy store. I am sure we will get to see some new projects soon. Can't wait!

My brother-in-law is dealing with the same things, as his knees are so painful. He has to have them both replaced. I felt the pain you have with them and I'm sorry.
