FEELING A LITTLE PRESSED FOR TIME...

Well here it is Wednesday already and I am just getting around to posting.  I am feeling a little stressed, but seriously I have no one or nothing to blame but myself.  I have tried to analyze why I feel the need to be CONSTANTLY on the move and CONSTANTLY with some project or another in the works, and honestly I have not really figured it out.  Part of me just can't bear to admit that the old body just can't seem to keep up and it is getting worse everyday.  My lower back is hurting and is somewhat flaring up my sciatic nerve, ~ which is always a nightmare ~ and my knees are BAD, and now to add to my list my index finger on my left hand is stiff and hurting as well.  I have never had my fingers and hands hurting before so this is new, but I am afraid that it is arthritis  as well.  I am totally amazed at how much I really use that hand as I am trying to favor it.  But washing my hair requires two hands, blowing drying my hair does as well.  Typing, eating, dishes, and certainly sewing, but I am pressing on.  My alternative seems to be to do nothing, ~ I do seem to sleep and lounge well ~ but I honestly just refuse.  Sooo I guess for now I will move along as best I can for as long as the Lord gives me the ability to do so.

Capri got her dress on Sunday.  She was just thrilled with the whole thing, and particularly with the necklace which she promised she would guard and care for with all that is in her, and I know she will.  I am so glad I decided to give it to her.  I think little Tella felt a little left out so grandma will have to figure something out there.  Sometimes it is hard to have 11 grandkids and try and keep everything even, but I am NOT complaining, just saying.

I made new Christmas stockings for Melody's family in the last couple of days.  I guess the new trend is burlap everything, and Christmas stockings are popular on the list.  Melody was admiring many that she had seen on Pintrest and Etsy, and I knew I could make them pretty easy for her.   Sometimes those Etsy shops charge soo much for these kind of things, but honestly I can see why.  You are never compensated for your time with these things.  I have had several people suggest I start an Etsy shop but honestly that is one of my concerns, plus I can barely keep up on my own list of wants, haha.  I could never bare to charge what I would really need to charge to make it worth my while either.  For instance, I would need to charge at least 40 dollars a piece for these stockings, and it just seems ridiculous, though Mel says people pay it all the time. Anyway, here they are...

BURLAP CAME IN MANY DIFFERENT PRINT DESIGNS BELIEVE IT OR NOT...MY SISTER DIANE KNEW I WAS LOOKING FOR SOME AND DISCOVERED MANY DIFFERENT SELECTIONS AT A WALMART OUT IN MORENO VALLEY.  HUBBY AND I STOPPED THERE ON OUR WAY HOME FROM CHURCH ON SUNDAY AND FOUND THIS.  I LIKED IT AS MUCH AS ANYONE FROM MY GENERATION CAN LIKE BURLAP.  IT WAS JUST AS ITCHY AND STIFF AS YOU MIGHT THINK THOUGH TOO, LOL

MEL BEING THE ONLY FEMALE ~ FOR NOW ANYWAY ~ IN THE FAMILY GOT A RUFFLE AND A FLOWER AND SOME RIBBON BRAID ON HERS
AND THE BOYS ALL GOT SOME BUTTONS....NOTICE THE DECORATIVE STITCH ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE CUFF AS WELL.  THEY WERE ALL LINED WITH THE SAME FABRIC AS THE CUFF WHICH WAS A SUPER SOFT FLANNEL.  SO AT LEAST WHEN THEY PUT THEIR HANDS INSIDE THE STOCKINGS THEY WON'T FEEL SCRATCHY BURLAP, LOL
Once I FINALLY figured out how to center the names perfectly on the cuff ~ harder than you might think ~ these went together pretty fast.  The embroidery part of my machine is definitely a little fiddly and downright annoying at times, but I do like the end result!

Now I need to get cracking on making some of these ~ completely different ~ for my oldest sons family. Then there is Christmas jammies to make, finish up my runners, and if there is any time left, I want to make some Christmas towels and matching hot pads for them all too.  Pretty sure I am not going to get this done by Thanksgiving, and I started in August too, lol.  These are a great deal of the gifts I am giving to my families this year, which if they are to be used for Christmas, you really need them for the WHOLE season, thus the need to have them completed by Thanksgiving.

Hope you are all busy and enjoying the nice Fall weather.  Our mornings and evenings have finally turned cool, and I am soo pleased.  The time change is around the corner though, and honestly I can hardly bear that.  Dark at 5 makes for a short day it seems, and I need to add a few hours to mine.

  3. Debbie, It's difficult to watch our bodies change in so many ways...especially when pain is involved. Praying for all to feel good again.

  4. I learned that my right index finger was feeling wonky...too much swiping on the iPad. LOL Seriously, everything hurts so I do get it. I spend a couple of hours a day in the recliner to keep my sciatica under control. Hope that you feel better soon.

What great Christmas stockings...so many great things you are creating!

  5. Hi Sweetie, Before I tell you how much I love your stockings for Mel and family, I have to ask you if you are near Temecula? I have a dear friend there that has a healing ministry and if I was close to her, I'd be visiting her often. Anyway, love you Christmas presents. I think you are much too hard on yourself because you simply amaze me!!!! I am supposed to make more doll clothes for the granddaughters for Christmas and just can't get enthused about it. I love it last year but this year, am putting it off. I do have another quilt to make but should probably wait for another week or so. Hang in there my friend; wish I could come visit with you-you'd probably kick my bum with all you do.

  8. A dear lady once told me that sometimes we just need to "Be Still and Know." That really spoke to me as I tend to be busy most of the time.

Love the stockings! Mel will so enjoy those!

    Happy rest of the week!

  9. Sweet lady...constantly doing one project after another...no wonder you hurt! You are amazing..and always going and doing. You can enjoy just a good book at times!
These are wonderful and yes to sell something like that you do have to charge like that..that is why my shop didn't last long, I was making five dollars a pillow after material cost.

You are truly a treasure to your kids...they will so enjoy them. Looks like you are enjoying that machine.

  10. Christmas at your house is probably courtesy of grandma and her beautiful sewing skills. You whip things up so fast and so pretty Debbie. Your family must love all those gifts. I also did hand made things at one time, for a shop, there was not much left to spend and almost nothing if I figured the time involved. :( So just keep doing your gifts of love, gifts from the heart are always the best kind. :)

  11. Praying that your hand and your back will heal up quickly. Don't our bodies know that only one thing at a time is allowed to be in pain?? ha!

Those stockings are adorable ... who knew that burlap came in so many prints?

  12. Yep ... I can see there are as many moving parts to your life as there are to mine. I hope you grab some recuperative time, too; as it never seems to fail that "busy" often means "susceptible to a virus".

Enjoy a season of crafting & family fun.
