LABOR DAY AND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Hope you all enjoyed your long week-end and final day of the summer (not technically I know) Labor day celebrations.  We certainly did that's for sure.  Sat we spent the day running around and completing some shopping and errands.  And then Sat. night we gathered to celebrate my middle son's 40th birthday.  (that's two kids for me now in their 40's!) I kicked around several ideas on how to best do this.  It's hard when there are soo many of us, not only in finding a time and day that works for everyone, but also a place large enough to do so.  But I finally settled on something pretty different for us in that we did an adult only night.  A first actually!  So all of my sons and their wives and hubby and I went to dinner at a pretty nice restaurant near us called Cedar Creek.  I could tell you how nice the place was or how good the food was, (and it is and was!) but honestly the real clincher was the fact that we were able to linger and take our time, and visit and talk with each other without the interruptions and demands of little kids.  Now I am pretty sure by now NO ONE could ever accuse me of NOT being a kid person or loving to pieces my grandkids, but they are pretty all consuming when they are all together, and sometimes it is just nice to go somewhere that is not necessarily "kid friendly" lol.  We came back here afterwards, where my youngest son (as per the birthday boy's request) whipped up his famous pizookie.  He even made a gluten free one for me! Oh my it was SOOO good.  They called their sister and her hubby on Facetime, and they too joined in on the visit that continued until almost 11 o'clock.  Again, without kids to worry about getting to bed etc., it made for a much longer time to visit.  Enjoyed every minute of this night!

from left to right....MY OLDEST SON JOE AND HIS WIFE LEAH, THE BIRTHDAY BOY JOHN AND HIS WIFE JESSICA, AND MY YOUNGEST SON JAMES AND HIS WIFE LARISSA   THEY GAVE ME A HARD TIME ABOUT THEIR "PROM" POSE, LOL, BY I AM GLAD I INSISTED.  THE LIGHTING COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IN THAT THEY ALL LOOK A LITTLE LIGHT, BUT YOU DO GET THE IDEA
Sunday was spent on our usual things.  All very good.  I did spend the morning finishing up little Vinny's bible cover.  I had made them for his 3 older siblings, and he was feeling a little left out so his mama bought him a little toddler bible and I covered it for him too.  He was pretty perky to have his very own too.   I think last post I showed you Capri's and JD's, so let me show you now Donatella's and Vinny's.

CAN YOU GUESS HER FAVORITE COLOR?  LOL  LOVED THIS FABRIC

A LITTLE CLOSER LOOK AT THE QUILTING I DID ON HERS, AND HER GLITTER BUTTON

ADDED A LABEL TO HERS TOO, AND PUT HER NAME ON THE SAME WAY I DID JD'S...WITH A TRIPLE STITCH STRAIGHT STITCH

INSIDE COVER FLAPS

I LOVED HOW VINNY'S CAME OUT...I USED SOME LEFT OVER FABRIC FROM SOPHIA'S QUILT.  THIS IS QUITE A BIT SMALLER THEN THE OTHER BIBLES SO I WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED ON HOW TO CUT DOWN ON THE SIZE FOR THE HANDLES AND BUTTON FLAP, BUT IT CAME OUT PRETTY GOOD ON THE FIRST GUESS SO I LEFT IT, LOL.

SO HERE THEY ALL 4 ARE.  HONESTLY, I HAD SOO MUCH FUN WITH THIS PROJECT, AND WOULDN'T MIND MAKING UP MORE.

SWEET LITTLE VINNY WITH HIS!

We did go and see Ben Hur as well this week-end, and thoroughly enjoyed that!  I'd recommend it if you are looking for a good movie.  Oh, and I made a trip to Joannes and stocked up on some much needed items for sewing and took advantage of their GREAT coupons and Labor Day sales

I am getting closer to making decisions and deciding on what to do for my Christmas projects this year, and hope to get going on some of them soon.  I have found the ABSOLUTE cutest sight I have ever stumbled across for fabric for the PJ'S though, but believe it or not I have already missed the pre sales for this fabric, and so I will have to wait to see if there is even enough left after the pre sales to even order what I want.  Who would have thought that EARLY Sept would be too late?  Guess I am not the only one who does this, lol.  I am still debating what to do because I won't find this out until mid-Oct., and if there shouldn't be enough I will be back at the beginning looking for something else i MIGHT want, AND by mid Oct. there probably won't be much of anything left, anywhere, lol.  OH SUCH DILEMMAS, lol.

Guess that's about it for now....I will leave you with a few pics I need in my books...Hope you all have a good week!  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

PRETTY 15 YEAR OLD LINDSEY READY TO START ANOTHER YEAR...OH, AND CAPTAIN AGAIN!

MIKE AND MELODY BOUGHT A BOAT!  PRETTY

FIRST RIDE....LATE IN THE SEASON (best prices that way of course!) BOYS LOVE LOVE LOVED IT....CLAIRE WASN'T HAPPY AS SHE DIDN'T WANT ANYONE "HOLDING" HER...SHE THINKS SHE'S AS BIG AS HER BROTHERS.  SHE GOT TO TAKE THIS PIC WHILE THE BOAT WAS SITTING STILL, AND SHE WAS FINALLY HAPPY.  OH THE DILEMMAS OF BEING A TODDLER

SHE LOVES A SNAP CHAT PIC, LOL

A PHOTOGRAPHER IN THEIR CHURCH TOOK THIS OF MEL SUNDAY MORNING.  SHE SENT IT TO ME TO COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW SHE HATED HER HAIR, LOL, SO SHE PROBABLY WON'T BE TOO HAPPY I POSTED IT, BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD.  AND THE CHANCES OF ME GETTING ANY OF HER ACTUALLY LEADING WORSHIP WON'T HAPPEN ANY OTHER WAY I AM SURE, LOL, SO IT WORKED FOR ME.

AND HUBBY FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO WORK IT, LOL.  HAD TO POST THIS!

  1. What a fun post. So much going on. The birthday get together was genius, to actually get time to visit without the little ones interrupting. That's a rare thing. Good idea to make it happen. Your projects are always so clever. Now I'm so curious about that fabric! :-)
