NEW WASHER AND DRYER, AND! A VALENTINE'S GIVEAWAY

Hope you are all enjoying your Monday.  It is raining here in California, and I am totally enjoying it.  Seemed like the perfect day to catch up all my laundry in my BRAND NEW WASHER AND DRYER!!  Yes, we have finally broken down and replaced the pair that have faithfully done our laundry for the last 12 years.  You might remember a while back I told you I had a repair man out on the washer and he told me that her days were definitely numbered.  Told me it would cost WAY more to fix it then it would to just buy a new one.  Let me tell you the laundry has been a definite challenge ever since.  I had to open the washer lid and manually give the tub a spin (not an easy task if you are wondering) to get it to MAYBE go into the spin cycle.  It was taking me ALL day to do the wash (which just shouldn't be the case when there are only two of us, and one of those people has the majority of their laundry go to the dry cleaners considering he wears suits and ties to work, haha) as sometimes it never would spin....meaning I had to wring out the clothes and put them WAY TOO WET into the dryer which then made the drying time take just forever not to mention was killing my arms.  Anyway, on Sat. we shopped around at a few places we decided to check out, and bought the new ones.   They actually delivered them on Sun afternoon, so we sped home from San Diego and church and a yummy lunch and by 5:00 they were up and running.  I have been practically giddy.  The new ones are NOT the biggest (don't need that anymore) NOT the top of the line (not necessary) and WITHOUT all the bells and whistles, (who cares?)  and yet are all I need them to be and more.  I am sooo grateful; thank you Jesus.  It is funny how you take for granted something as basic as a washing machine until you no longer have one that works.  Other than that, our week-end was pretty uneventful.

I mentioned I was going to do a give away and the time has FINALLY come.  For years now my mother has made coasters out of fabric.  I remember when she first told me about them I thought to myself, "how in the world would that work?  Surely they would get wet, and therefore be pointless" haha...But when she gave me a set and I tried them out I was pleasantly surprised.  They are by the far the best coasters I have ever owned.  They are the perfect size, you can make them to match your own personal decor, and they are definitely unique.  In addition to that I have a set that go with my Fall decor, another set for my Christmas decor, and now a new everyday set.  I have also made a set for a Valentine's day decor.  They are really pretty cute.  I have also made some new ones for Mel's everyday decor.  Let me show them to you....

WORK SOO NICELY
Soo, I have decided to put together a little "Valentine's" gift for someone, and a set of the Valentine's coasters will be part of it.  Not necessarily this particular set, but maybe, who knows??  If you are interested in this gift, just leave me a comment here.  I will let hubby pick a name this week-end, so that I can get it to whoever might win this BEFORE the first of February.   I have been wanting to just bless one of my readers with a give away for some time now, but it just never seemed to work out.  These are nothing all that spectacular, but they will definitely be made with love.  OH, and for any of you gals who do your own sewing out there, if you are interested I can definitely show you how ridiculously quick and easy these are and then you could always whip yourself up a set to go with your own decor.  If I didn't have my Fall and Christmas ones packed away for now I would show you those too.  They are really quite cute.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!  My dryer is buzzing, so I am off to switch loads... : )

  1. I got my first washer and dryer right before my daughter was born so I could wash diapers. She just turned 21 and the washer and dryer are still working. I wish I had a timer on my dryer. That will be one feature I will look for when I have to replace them.

  5. Oh, I'll probably be in the market for a new washer and dryer before the year is out.

I love the coasters, very sassy! Maybe I'll be the lucky winner. :o)

  6. I always said that I'd never be excited about appliances when I first got married. It didn't take long to realize what a blessing dependable working appliances can be! Happy for you that you have new ones. And the coasters are so pretty! You are so sweet to offer the give-away.

  7. YAY for the new washer! We had to replace both in the last 1-2 years. Bought the washer new, and bought a gas dryer for $125 used!! Like yours, no bells and whistles, but they do the job!!

Love your coasters! How clever! How fun to do a Valentine's giveaway!!

    Hugs to you!
Daughter 3's wedding is April 7th, so I won't be visiting around too much until mid April! Crazy good stuff...still crazy, though!! :o)

  8. First, congrats about the washer and dryer. If (when) we get a new set, it will be smaller than what we have, too. I also don't care about bells and whistles either. Just get my clothes clean and dry, and we're good to go!

Those coasters are so pretty. I have a thing about coasters. I love to switch things up and use different ones.

  9. Oh~! I did relate to the washer story, been there done that, and yes, yours did serve you well, I agree it was time for a new one, I also agree on not getting one with all those extra gadgets, I also related to feeling giddy about a new washer and dryer. lol. I found myself looking for things to wash, where as before I was hiding clothes. lol
The coasters are so pretty, your Mom did a beautiful job, now I know where you get your talents. yours are beautiful too, and I would so love to be entered in your giveaway.
Just loving your new header, to cute lovebirds.
    Enjoy your day.

  10. What a great idea for the coasters. And I know how much fun it is getting a new washer and dryer. It makes what was a chore a fun thing. At least for awhile. Like anything new, the new wears off and we just take it for granted. It just occurred to me as I was writing this that it is possible for us to take all of our blessings for granted if we're not careful. Maybe we get these new blessings occasionally to remind us of all the other things that God has blessed us with.
    Thank you for sharing.

  11. Good for you and your new washer and dryer! And it's so nice to hear someone so happy about being able to get new appliances! We purchased our first NEW set 8 years ago and I love them. Up until that time we had mismatched sets in both of our other houses that were left behind by the previous owners. One set was an old ugly brown from the 70s, but it still worked good. Your coasters are really pretty! Hope you're having a great day!

  12. Hi Debbie, I loved hearing about your weekend and getting a new washer/dryer. It is amazing how exciting getting these can be. We have our daughters old set from when we moved here and I love them but don't know how long they'll last. It shocks me how costly they are now though. I love your coasters-so cute, especially Mel's. You are such a talented lady! Have a great day; hubby and I are going to the movies.

  15. Congrats on the new washer and dryer. I know how exciting a new appliance can be. You're right...we take things for granted. I love to make these as potholders (8 inch or 10 inch size), though I've not seen them as coasters. They make great ones! They are the reason I want that hump jumper I spoke of last week.
