It seems like this week has flown by even faster than most. It really is crazy. I have mainly been working on Sam's big boy quilt, which while it is easy enough, it is time consuming and cumbersome to work with. I am thrilled with the way it is turning out though. I am glad I decided to make the BIG one first, as now when I go to do the little ones it will seem like a cake walk. Here are some pics of the progress...

DOESN'T REALLY LOOK LIKE THAT MANY SQUARES DOES IT? |
|
THIS IS HALF DONE HERE. 12 SQUARES ACROSS FOR THE WIDTH, AND AN EVENTUAL 16 ROWS DOWN FOR THE LENGTH, WHEW... |
|
CLOSE UP LOOK...THOUGH NOTHING HAS BEEN CLIPPED YET OF COURSE. |
|
BACK SIDE OF THE QUILT. GETTING MY LINES EVEN WAS A BIT TRICKY, BUT I DID IT I GUESS. WITH THE WARM AND NATURAL CENTER THIS IS HEAVIER AND WARMER THAN IT LOOKS. |
I ran out of a double spool of thread BEFORE I was even half done (amazing ~ who would have thought) so I had to run to the store before I could even get busy today. My back can only take about 3 hours or so a day sitting in the HARD chair though. I had a REALLY comfy nice one that I got rid of when we moved in here, and of course I wonder now why I did...sigh. But I am thinking maybe one more week and I should be done. I am going to make a couple of little pillows, (one with his name on it) as well. They are busy painting his room and getting things ready. Can't wait to see it all come together.
I have also been busy trying to organize things for our Easter/my sister's 60th birthday party here (at our newly renovated clubhouse that is) on the Sat. before Easter. I am getting lots of help from my wonderful niece Jessica, so it will make things a lot easier. My dil's will bring things too. Makes it so nice with so many to help, as our group is soo big anymore.
It has been a little too warm for me to tell you the truth this week. Or maybe it's because I have a heavy quilt laying on my lap while I am sewing, haha. But it has been up in the upper 80's. This new house of ours is NOT insulated as well as our old one and the heat gets in quickly. I set my air conditioner (Yes, that's right, the AIR CONDITIONER) at 80 and it has kicked on once or twice. Not up for this yet.
Just a few other random pics. for you. My Azalea bush is COVERED in blooms....soo pretty. And mom has decided she is going to take over the plants and flowers on my front porch. Not real sure if she can pull this off, but she soo misses working in her gardens and flower pots. I definitely DO NOT have a green thumb and DO NOT enjoy working any of that. I do love the way it looks, so I am hoping this will be a win win for everyone.

Wow! That quilt is really coming together. I can't wait to see it when it's done. I'm hoping that your mom will be able to work on your plants on the front porch ... what a blessing that will be for you and for her. ;-) I can relate to your mom being all bundled up ... I'm the cold one while DD is the hot one. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThree little boys to hold and have fun with, how sweet. Your quilt is so well done and will be so nice as a gift. I admire your talent in attempting such a big job. Having your own personal gardener sure will be a good thing.
