Well, here we are to Monday morning already, and the end of July as well! I know I say it frequently, but time just whips by soo fast. Our week-end was full and fast as well. Sat hubby and I spent the morning on a few chores and errands, and then went to lunch and to the movies. It probably seems as if we go to the movies frequently, which actually I guess we do, haha, but it is something we both enjoy and it is always so nice and cool in there besides. We use to spend our days together walking around looking at various different sites etc., but you know where that leaves me anymore, so that hopefully it will be part of our future again after my surgeries. I am moving ahead with the process in that I did receive my referral for the orthopedic surgeon and the orders for new x-rays late on Friday afternoon. I am waiting for the office to open and then I will call and schedule that appointment...but I regress. It is hard to find GOOD movies I will admit, but this one is one I would definitely recommend even though it was mildly depressing, lol. It is called Still Mine. I had never even heard of it and had never seen a preview of it of course either, but hubby had found it somehow. It is based on a true story, which I always enjoy as well. It wasn't even playing in our local theaters, so we had to take a little drive (only about 20 min!) to find it, which was just fine with me. It stars James Cromwell and is basically is about a couple that have loved each other for 61 years, had 7 children together, worked a 1000 acres of land and survived through the generations. The wife's mind is beginning to go and the need for a house that is easier to get around in becomes essential. He sets out to build it (at 87!) and is met with the building department's constantly hindering and stopping his work. The life of this couple is complicated beyond belief, and you are living it all with them. I LOVED it! Sunday found us in San Diego as usual, and church was as good as ever. Afterwards hubby and I decided to take this set of grands to see the new kid movie (yes ANOTHER movie, haha) Turbo. Again, I was quite pleased with the selection. Some of those kids movies I find myself fighting dozing off, haha, but this one was really cute. I had never been to the movies with little Donatella, and she LOVED it. I thoroughly enjoyed them all on the experience. We got home a little later than usual and barbequed some fresh Salmon for dinner. Today I hope to spend at the sewing machine, and the rest of the week is full of appointments to keep this gal "taped together" haha. Hair, nails, and brows etc. It does seem that these maintenance appointments come closer and closer together anymore. The following week Melody and her family arrive and I am soo excited. Hope you all have a wonderful week! Blessings to you all! Debbie

Your grandchildren are the cutest! I never know what movie to go to nowadays. I've really not been in some time. I'll check out the one you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love,
Debbie
The movie sounds better than most of what is available these days. I hardly go anymore as it always disappoints. This sounds like one to try though.
ReplyDeleteAs always, your little people are beyond beautiful!! Isn't it the best? :)
Hugs!
I am sitting here smiling as I think back over your statement about appointments to keep you together, and that they seem to be closer together. Oh, the joys of getting older. I agree with you.
ReplyDeleteI also agree that you have such cute little ones in your family!
Now that first movie sounds great. It might exasperate John, though. He is not a fan of the officials who wish to thwart a person at every turn.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...the grands are all so cute!!!! The movie sounded good.
ReplyDeleteI will look for it.
Hugs,
Kris
That "Still Mine" looks like the kind of movie I like. We hardly ever go to the movies. We don't even rent movies much anymore. I hadn't thought about that until I was reading this.
ReplyDeleteDon't know why (other than the fact that Hollywood ticks me off on a regular basis so I stopped paying attention to what they were doing. Ha!)
I'll have to check out that movie. It looks like something I would enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHoping you get that knee(s) replaced soon and do as good as several of my friends have done.
Have a great week!
I hadn't heard about Still Mine. We don't go to the movie theaters (too expensive, no pause button for potty breaks, and no volume control for DH's poor hearing). But we do rent movies, so I'll be adding that to my list.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a wonderful weekend ... no wonder you don't get any sewing done on the weekends ... you're just too busy! ;-)
We almost never go to the movies anymore, I think the last one we saw was the Hobbit (husband and I both have a hard time sitting still for any length of time) Even when we watch something at home we are generally doing something else at the same time.
ReplyDelete"Still Mine " sounds like something we would enjoy....not much out there anymore worth watching so always nice to get recommendations
What a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteI bet that movie is good I really enjoy James Cromwell anyway. I love the pictures of all of your babies. What great pictures.
I will keep you and your surgeries in my prayers. That is a big step.
We haven't been to the movies much this summer, but during the year we tend to go pretty often too. We're empty nesters so we can do what we want, right? : )
