SOME CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Well, I am trying not to be frustrated, BUT...I have finally finished decking my halls over here and I was anxious to share a few pics with you.  I don't know if it is just me, or it is my camera, or that a picture does not do them justice, but I am not happy with how they have turned out at all.  I am going to have my hubby check my camera (I might have it set on something weird...I can barely work anything....it is a wonder I can blog at all, haha) but in the meantime, I am going to post a few that other than the color not seeming good enough were pretty good....I will start with....the grandkids room.  I made this room up after Melody married and moved out as I rearranged things some and ended up with an empty room downstairs which just seemed perfect for this.  We put Melody's old entertainment unit (which was in her den/study) and put a TV in there and filled the cabinets with old kid video's and movies that I have been collecting for years.  We bought a futon (which makes into a bed for when they want to spend the night) and filled the closet with shelves for their toys.  I put a little table and chair set in there for them to do their coloring, play games and do puzzles.  The room has been a wonder thing and has been used to death by all 8 of my grandkids....

This is a pic that hangs on the wall in the room. It is not a Christmas dec obviously, but is cute, and I just wanted to share it...

This is a view looking into the room

A close up look of the entertainment center.  That's "Bubbles" the fish in the bowl.

I put a little Christmas tree in there along with all the snowmen.  Notice that sign in the upper left hand corner...Soo true you know.

Grandpa bought the oversized stuffed tiger and dog that wait for them on the back of the couch, he's as bad as I'am, haha

I bought the Fisher Price Nativity set a couple of years ago and keep it set up on their little table at Christmas time for them to play with.  They love it, and it is a good way to share what Christmas is really all about with them..I have also have a couple of books about Christmas right there for them too.

I got this guy at Tai Pan last year and he hangs on the door as you come in the room.  Cody is loving him this year...

I wanted you to see the "pony" Grandpa and I got last year for the kids and put in the corner in the room.  We got him at Costco and the kids all love him.  He whinnys and makes a galloping sound as well.  We had soo much fun putting this room together for the kids.  There are books, and videos and and old game system for the older kids as well, so there is a little something for everyone.

I will now take you on a brief tour of my kitchen.  I don't really have a lot in there.  Mainly candles etc.  But I have got a couple of cute things....

My cookie jar and ginger bread couple that I have had for years.  It is usually full of Christmas cookies but I am still debating rather or not I can resist them this year....so for now it's empty.

My sister Donna made me this little teacup tree years ago.  I LOVE it.  I thought about you Mary when I put it up this year....

This lady has set on my kitchen counter for years.  I don't even remember where I got her.  I just know Christmas is NOT complete without her, haha

These are the things that sit on my sewing cabinet under my window in the kitchen.  It displays Santa Claus and Christmas pics from years gone by.  My glass trees hold different kinds of Christmas candy, which you might wonder how I am resisting?  "I'm not sure" is the answer to that, haha...All I know is sugar cookies are my favorites, so therefore ALOT harder to resist.  My grandkids LOVE that the Christmas candy is back.

Well, I think I will leave you with this for now.  I will have my husband check out my camera and I may have to retake the pictures, or maybe just accept that the pictures will never do the glittery, pretty things justice.  Hope you all have a wonderful week-end.

  2. Hi Debbie. Loved your holiday pictures! So homey and fun. I also love the sign in the playroom, as well as the table and chairs. I have been looking for something just like that for our play room.
    Enjoyed the tour!

  5. I thought the photos looked fine. It can be frustrating when pictures don't look like we see the things ourselves, but they gave a good idea of what you wanted to show. Thanks for sharing them!

  7. I bet your Grandkids love their play room! I love everything that you have done. I think my sister bought a very similar nativity for my girls for Christmas, I'm anxiously awaiting it in the mail. She's coming for Christmas but wants the girls to have their nativity early so that they can play with it and I can tell them all about the story of Christmas!!!

The way you feel about your camera is how I had been feeling about mine. It really gets irritating. But the good news is, I can really get a feel for what your house looks like. So pretty, I love all of your decorations. Looking great Debbie!!
