Eph 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us..
I am also grateful that my youngest son James and his 3 precious kids came and hung out here last Friday and spent the night as well, as Jimmy's wife Larissa was on a retreat. We had such a good visit and had a really good time. I enjoyed watching my son "work" all of his kids. Changing diapers, giving baths, brushing teeth, cooking dinner, and then cleaning it all up....not to mention of course refereeing squabbles, and keeping them all entertained. And when it was time for bed? They went in and layed down and went immediately to sleep without a single tear or problem. I LOVED it! I am soo grateful that they both do such a good job with their children. How blessed these grandkids are to have the parents they do, and I thank God for it every day. On Sat. I took Capri (5) and JD (3) to the movies to see Oceans while Tella (1) napped and the guys watched some basketball playoffs. This was the first time I have taken the 2 of them anywhere by myself and we had such a good time. They were soo good. They were totally entertained with the movie too, though they both are REALLY into ocean animals which helped. I think they the fact that they both had their own icees (a first I guess) and popcorn helped things along a little bit too, haha..And then on Sunday after church, I headed over to my other son's house and picked up Lindsey (9) and Jeffie (6) and traveled down to Orange County to my sister Donna's house for her son Blake's 7th birthday party. Grandpa had some things to do at home, so we were on our own. Everyone enjoyed themselves for sure. I didn't take any pictures as my sister Diane @ Mountain Moments was there as well and she has SUCH a good camera and takes such GOOD pictures (check our her blog ~ these next two pics are just a sample of her work) that there didn't seem to be much reason for me to snap them too. I am grateful that there is so many opportunities for all the cousins to get together and enjoy each other.
The birthday boy, Blake...
(stole this GREAT pic from Diane)
Here is where Jeffie accidently (?) pinned the tail on "his donkey"...Grandma...haha...the kids loved it.
His face says it all....such good times.
Then, yesterday I traveled down to San Diego to spend the day with Jim and Larissa's kids again (and Larissa too for most of the day) while they attended a meeting at the school where Capri will attend next year. I soo enjoyed myself. The drive was beautiful and I thought to myself more than once how blessed I am to be in a position to do such a thing. It is only about an hour and a half from door to door. Larissa took Capri for a haircut and we snapped a few pictures of this darling little place she takes her for haircuts. They devote an entire side of the place to a play area for the kids complete with a castle, slide, dress up clothes and lots of toys. The kids had a ball. Capri's hair was soo adorable too. They washed it and cut it and then styled it in french braids, sprinkled on glitter and put little roses in it as well. I did get (well actually Larissa took them for me) a few pics of this....
This was only a portion of the area..
See the roses and glitter in her hair?

Well, guess that about sums up this week so far. As usual soo many blessings, soo much to be thankful for. And while I can always look to my circumstances and life and find things that I am grateful for etc., as always right at the top of my list is the Lord. He has been filling me with His peace recently and yet I long for more. It seems to the older I get the more I want to know Him and please Him. I have also found that I realize so much more now just how much the Lord has truly blessed me over the course of my life. I have been thinking for a couple of days of who I might chose this week to mention from the blog world that soo blesses me. And there are just soo many. Some of these blogs I read on a daily basis (or close to it anyway) and comment on and I rarely if ever even hear from them. I am not sure if they even read mine. But I have found that it doesn't really matter. My blog getting read (or not read as the case may be) is not what really blesses me sometimes, though I DO love hearing from everyone. I have just come across soo many women who are soo interesting. Some just like me in many ways (kindred spirits) and others who are as different from me as they could be. From every season in life you can find. So this week I chose....It feels like Choas. I just can't explain enough how much I enjoy this blog. First of all she is a strong Christian woman who obviously loves the Lord and her little family. She is funny, real and totally entertaining as well. But I think one of the main reasons I so enjoy her is because I see so much of myself from years gone by. It brings me down memory lane (a lane I enjoy well) as she tells the tales of life with kids. There are a few blogs that do this for me. But if you get the chance, check out this wonderful little blog and I know you will be blessed.
Hope you all have a wonderful week, and to join the other Thankful Thursday posts click HERE....But better yet, write your own list of blessings and link up. Can't tell you how much I enjoy this. = )
Hi Debbie, I hope that whatever it is weighing heavy on your heart, that it will work out in the best way possible. And wow, what a place to have your hair cut for the little ones!!! And I fully know what you mean about being in a place in our lives where we CAN help our children out with their growing families. I can't tell you how many time throughout the week, I have thought about the fact that you mentioned me and my blog as a blessing in your life. That really meant a lot to me.
ReplyDeleteI will go check out your mention for today.
Have a great rest of the week!
Enjoyed your post...precious grandchildren. I have already been through the change you are starting, and still in it, and God has been faithful. I hope you continue to have that sense of adventure!!! Blessings...God has great things in store for those who Love Him...you have great things ahead.

Hi Debbie,
ReplyDeletePrecious post...you are blessed with such a close family. Whenever you mention your DIL I always wonder what kind of daughter in law my son will bring into our family. Looks like a great time with the grandkids and what a perfect place to get a haircut. Too cute.
Hope you lighten your heart and I will pray for your peace of mind.
Have a great day.
Maryrose
Hi Deb, I always enjoy reading your informative posts. I don't handle change very well either, especially at our age and season of life. I'm glad to see Janette commented on this post. We've connected too and she's been someone who also is walking through challenges. It's great that we can encourage one another.
ReplyDeleteYour grandchildren are adorable. I love the name Capri. As you know it's one of my favorite Italy places to visit.
Hugs to you,
Debbie
Oh Debbie!!! Love this post and please know I am praying for you and that peace of mind that I know the LORD will reign down on you...Can't wait to hear all about it :) When it comes to change I have a saying that I learned from Joyce Meyer:
ReplyDelete"If you always do what you've always done
you'll always be what you've always been"
Your grankids are just adorable and they did such a great job on her hair!! I bet she never wanted to let the doo go :)
Bless you my friend! Love you
He is still on His throne and totally in charge. Amen and what a delightful post and adorable kidlets. I can't wait until I have little ones again.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed sharing your life and family. I was especially touched by your son and how he is a good daddy. Neat
Such a nice post, your grandkids are precious. Praying for you.
ReplyDeleteFamily is the best thing The Lord gave us! Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteCapri looks darling with her hair like that. The place is adorable. What a good idea.
ReplyDeleteAs the daughter and DIL of great grandparents, I can say that family - and grandparents especially - are such a gift. My last Grammy is still with us at 94, albeit in a nursing home, and so full of lvoe and prayers. I feel privileged that my kids can know her a bit. And, my kids love my folks and my husband's. Not to mention, I love the love and support they extend us and we are able to return. Family is so precious. It seems like you are truly blessed with yours. Such beautiful faces and moments in your posts... I will pray for blessings and peace to be showered down upon you!
ReplyDeleteBlessings on you and your family. What great pics!!
ReplyDeleteHow neat to be able to take kids to such a cool place for a hair cut! You have beautiful family. Praying for you
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteFirst things first, I will be praying with you over the upcoming changes, for His continued peace and direction. I too do not like change, but I recognize that it is God's way of continually growing me.
You my dear as well as your family are truly blessed to have each other, and to be able to enjoy this time together. You seem to be so devoted to your children and grandchildren. What a great example you are.
I savored every word of this special time you all had. Just the other night i was looking over past photos of us and our grandchildren and relived every precious memory with them. Needless to say there were a few tears shed. Time passes so quickly.
On blogging, it has brought much joy to me, but like you have visited many people and never knew whether or not they came by for a visit. But I blog for me, my family and my Lord. And have reap the benefit of meeting wonderful Christian women such as you.
As always I leave blessed and inspired, and also leaving a long comment. lol Please forgive me.
Hugs,
Sue
My granddaughter is the apple of my eye I love your pictures as they are all sweet
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had so much fun!! The pics of the kids are great! Praying for peace that passes all understanding for you in the changes. God is good and He is always faithful. He knows what's best for you. Thanks for sharing. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all - so glad to have some time to sit and actually comment on blogs after I read...this week has been one of those where I am so whipped at the end of the day, I usually just read. Sounds like a busy but fun week in your neck of the West Coast:) Those babies are just so cute...and that picture of Jeffie!! Beyond precious:)
ReplyDeleteI surely will be praying for the changes on the horizon...and will look forward to hearing about God's leading and blessings along the way! Something exciting is certainly on the horizon!!
It has been a great thankful Thursday - that's for sure! Hugs my friend, Jennifer
Praying for peace in the midst of change you are facing.
ReplyDeleteYou're such a good grandma. I can't wait for that season of life.
