HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! (and a little added on)

"PRINCE CHARMING" IN HIS VALENTINES SHIRT

Well it's Wed. afternoon and tomorrow is Valentine's Day, and I did not get Valentine's Cards in the mail to my grandkids!  What kind of a Grandma am I anyway?  : (  It just kind of snuck up on me.  I have been tired and hurting kind of bad these last couple of days and I am not sure why.  I think maybe it is because I am out of the supplement I take that seems to really help with my arthritis, and so hopefully I will get some tomorrow and get some relief.  MEANWHILE!  Mom is doing soo much better.  She is dressing and undressing on her own now, and only had to have a little bit of assistance in the shower!  YAY!  Her old appetite is FINALLY back and she wanted to take me out to lunch today.  Truthfully?  I would have rather not done it as it still involves getting her into her gear and in and out of her car and then in and out of the restaurant with her walker etc., and like I said I am hurting, but I just couldn't turn down her sweet suggestion.  Plus it is a beautiful day here in So. California and it was nice to get her out for something fun instead of just a doc appointment.  We really did have a pretty good time, and the food was great, and afterwards she wanted to get her hands and feet taken care of which she was in REALLY desperate need of so we went and did that too.  She is home now, napping in her chair, with her nails looking great, and I can rest now too.  : )

AND SAM IN HIS MICKEY/MINNIE VALENTINE SHIRT!

I decided to re-post an old Valentine's Day post I wrote a couple of years ago, as it still soo sums up my feelings on this day....

This Sunday is Valentine’s Day and I imagine literally millions of people will celebrate this day with flowers, candy, cards, and gifts. Red and pink hearts, Cupid’s with bows and arrows, and sweet little Teddy Bears have been stocked on the shelves of our stores since the Christmas clearance items were also being displayed. I have always loved this holiday, and this year is no different. I tried to set our wedding date for Feb. 14th, thinking what a perfect day to celebrate with a marriage ceremony; however it seems way too many others had this thought before I did, as the church was already completely booked. We settled on the first of February and yet every year for 35 years we have had somewhat of a combination celebration of these two days. For me the short month of February has always gone hand in hand with thoughts of romance and love.

In Scripture we are told that God IS love…

1John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

In the world we all live in, love is usually thought of in the way I have described above. Moonlit walks, candlelight dinners and romantic celebrations come to our minds. And yet REAL love that comes only from God is really very different. God loves us all in a perfect and everlasting way. In this passage of scripture, John’s emphasis on love among the people of God is powerful. Here, he shows why it is so important. If love is of God, then those who claim to be born of God, and claim to know God, must be able to love one another in the body of Christ. Again, John insists here that there is something that is given to the believer when they are born of God; a love is imparted to their life that they did not have before. Christians are not “just forgiven”, they are born anew by God’s Spirit. John is saying when we really experience God it will show by our love for one another. Of course, this love is not perfected in the life of a Christian on this side of eternity. Though it may not be perfected, it must be present ~ and it should be growing. You can’t truly grow in your experience of God without also growing love for one another. John can boldly say, “He who does not love does not know God.” If there isn’t real love for God’s people in our life, then our claim to know God and experience God just isn’t true.

My prayer today is that this love that God speaks of will SO fill my heart and life that there is nothing it can do BUT spill out to others around me. I so want for everyone to experience and know His love in their lives as well. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY to you all, and may the Lord make His face to shine upon you now and always.

I also want to take this time to wish my sweet, sweet, little Donatella Valentina a happy birthday!  What a wonderful day to have your birthday fall on.  She brings such joy and life to those who are blessed to love her.  Her sassy, sweet little heart and personality bless more than you can imagine.  So, may the Lord bless you and keep you Tella, and make His face shine upon you now, and always.  Loving you always and forever, Grandma'

Just had to add on what her daddy posted today on Facebook as it soo accurately sums up this little girl....

Houston, we have a problem. This little girl has me completely wrapped around her little finger, and she knows it. If you read my Valentines post on Larissa, then let me just say that Tella is the exact opposite. She is dripping with emotion and feelings. Every day (I’m so blessed) she gives me a sloppy wet kiss and tells me that she loves me. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for her. Donatella means “beautiful gift”. Valentina means “strong and powerful”. It’s crazy how dead on accurate that is. The world is not ready for Donatella, but it desperately needs her. Ready or not, here she comes.

  10. Dear Debbie, Usually I have parties for our daughter's and grands but this year I had my study and didn't. In fact, I didn't even buy cards but got little boxes of candy hearts for each of them.
I loved your past post! You girl, shower everyone with Love and you honor your mom so much. Hope you got your nails done too.
Sending you big hugs today. Happy Valentine's Day.

  11. What a sweet tribute to his little girl! Hope that she had a terrific birthday.

I'm sure that you will make it up to your grands...and they'll think nothing of not getting a card on the exact day.

So good that your mom is doing so much better. And as one who deals with arthritis flares from time to time, I know about the aches and pains. You're a beautiful daughter to put your mom's need to get out ahead of your own.
