It is almost noon on Thursday and I honestly can't believe it. This week has been a series of days where unplanned things happened right along with the scheduled. It is the first day that I haven't had to go somewhere I really didn't want to go, and was able to sit down at my sewing machine in the morning. By afternoon I will still sit down there, but I am not as perky or as eager as I am in the morning. So I did finish up my third Christmas runner this morning, though I had to make a quick trip to JoAnne's before I could. I thought I had the fabric left over to make the binding, but I did not. I did pick up some darling car fabric and pattern to make Sam a quick pair of jammies out of it, and that was kind of fun too. I also bought myself an inexpensive pair of quilting gloves which I just know are really going to help me. I used a pair of rubber gloves (which were better than nothing at all!) on the ones I have done so far, but these are going to be much better I am sure. So here is the next runner...(I am sure you are all holding your breath ~ and might even think, "does that lady do ANYTHING besides sew?" haha And the answer would be, "not much anymore." WINK)

I MADE 3 RUNNERS USING THIS PATTERN. PROBABLY BORING TO MOST, BUT HELPS ME IMPROVE WITH EACH ONE. I MADE MY FREE MOTION STARS BIGGER THIS TIME, AND THAT HELPED SOMEWHAT, AND! I PUT THE BINDING ON BY MACHINE USING A DECORATIVE STITCH. NEXT TIME I WILL BE THE BINDING ON, AND THEN I WILL PUT THE DECORATIVE STITCHES ON THE BORDER AS THEN I CAN PROBABLY CENTER THEM BETTER. LESS MISTAKES IN THIS ONE SO I AM GETTING THERE, BUT STILL FAR FROM PERFECT. I BELIEVE YOU KATHY, THAT PROBABLY WON'T EVER HAPPEN, HAHA! |
|
YOU CAN KIND OF SEE STITCHES BETTER THIS WAY. MY FREE MOTION ONES NEED A LOT OF WORK, HAHA BUT YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN MY FIRST ONES! |
|
IF YOU LOOK REALLY CLOSE YOU CAN THE DECORATIVE STITCH IN THE BINDING I USED. I PERSONALLY LOVED IT AND WILL PROBABLY USE IT A LOT IN THE FUTURE....I THINK MELODY IS CALLING THIS ONE! LOL |
I had a LONG and very frustrating time this week trying to figure out which of the new medications I was taking was causing me to have some pretty significant allergic reactions. The doc I saw about this was VERY unsympathetic and said some things she really shouldn't have. My reg doc is an old family friend (was our neighbor for many years) but getting into him has become almost impossible. The other docs in his practice who CAN see me are just not even close. I am thinking it might be time to change to one closer to our house. But after 25 years that is hard to do. But at the end of the day, my real faith is in the Great Physician anyway, so I think this change might be happening soon. I did get my ct scan done, and my blood work, and one other test, so now there is only one left to do before the specialist I am also seeing can make his diagnose and hopefully take care of my problem. In the meantime I am off both meds for the time being, and am still having a few of the allergic reactions going on. But! the other symptoms I am treating anyway seem to be doing better, so we will see. Maybe the Lord has just decided to heal me, and meds are not going to be necessary! It is sure what I have been praying for over here.
One last thing. I want to wish a VERY HAPPY birthday to my wonderful DIL Larissa! Honestly, there just can't be a better DIL anywhere, as I have the two best there are! Larissa is giving, funny, supportive, and a godly example to those around her. She is one of the best mommies I know, and my son is truly blessed to have found her. How glad I am to have her a part of our lives! James took the day off today so that Larissa can get some much needed time WITHOUT all 4 of her kids, haha. A long lunch and maybe even a movie are on her agenda. I thought about joining her and her mother, but decided I didn't know how I might be feeling, and it is a LONG drive down and back. I will see her Sunday.

LARISSA AND JAMES TAKING LAST YEAR IN ITALY! |
Well, the wind is blowing today, the temperatures are MUCH cooler, and looks like Fall may have arrived in So. California. Hope you all have had a good week, and find some time this week-end to enjoy all those blessings from our God!
Debbie, Praying those allergic reactions go away quickly! O.k. so girl, you've just started quilting and you are already so much further along with machine quilting than I'll ever be. Love your runner!
ReplyDeleteWe are surely blessed by godly spouses for our kids-love both sil's to pieces.
Blessings on your day my friend.

This is how we approach healthcare, too. Pray for healing.
ReplyDeleteYour sewing is beautiful. Hope that you never run out of people to gift with runners!
I love to see someone passionate about something like sewing or quilting ... or anything. I can't imagine not having at least one passion in life.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your beautiful DIL.
You really are a talented seamstress! And you do complete a lot of beautiful projects!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday wishes to your lovely daughter-in-law :)
Debbie
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed at how quickly you've managed to turn out such beautiful stuff with your new machine!
I'll be praying for you too. It's hard not knowing what is causing your problems...

Dear one, you are proof that we are our own worst critics. Your runners are wonderful! Perfect, well maybe not (I've been quilting for about 30 years and not a single one of my projects is perfect ... not even close!!!), but then again, dear Debbie, you've only been quilting for such a short period of time. So cut yourself some slack, keep working, keep making progress, and above all, have fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm soo sorry to hear that you're having some allergic reactions. Praying that the Lord will bring healing to you. {{hug}}
And happy birthday to Larissa!!
Photo of Larissa is beautiful. Praying for your medical stuff, I am plagued with auto immune stuff so i know how frustrating it can be. Also praying that the Lord would give you wisdom about your doctor and if it's time to change. Hope it's a great weekend for you
ReplyDeleteAllergies....no fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your beautiful daughter in law. Have a wonderful weekend....another project?:)
I love reading about you and Kathy's quilting projects. I think it is wonderful to have such a hobby that you enjoy so much. Your runners are certainly perfect to me.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your comprimised health lately. Wishing you good days and good health and a happy weekend!
Praying for healing and no meds. needed, as there are so many side affects, as well as the decision of changing your Dr.
ReplyDeleteYour runners are so pretty, and what is better, you are enjoying making them.
Wishing, Larissa a very Happy Birthday wish.
So glad the weather is turning cooler for you, enjoy.
Hugs,
Sue
