WEEK-END WRAP UP....TAKE 2

Well it's already 2:30 in the afternoon and I decided to take a quick break and put up a new post.  I think I am FINALLY ready to say that I may need a break from my sewing and projects, lol.  I am just flat out tired.  And I know from YEARS of experience once I reach those proportions ~ tired and just NOT in the mood ~ that it is time to pack it up and take a few days ~ or even weeks ~ off.  I did try to wrap everything up before we left for our time in New Mexico, but I just did not quite make it.  Soo of course I have been working on that since we got back.  Bottom line?  all I really have to do is, 1 more embroidery project, and 2 more no-sew blankets....sigh.  And trust me, it will be a push.  But I should be finishing that up by tomorrow afternoon, YAY, and then I am going to put that machine away in it's cabinet and not look at it again until after the first of the year.  I am very certain I will be back in the mood WAY before then, but I just am going to force myself if I have to, to keep it put away.

Hubby and I combined some work and play this week-end, but honestly it was more work than play.  But we are right on schedule and I am feeling very productive.  Got all the shopping done for our family dinner this week-end, and ALL of the presents wrapped and under our tree that we have in our possession.  They are still trickling in from UPS, and I am still watching for several, but it feels good to have some of them here and wrapped and under the tree where they belong for now.  I have a love/hate relationship with wrapping too, haha.  Honestly, I kind of like it.  The new glittery type paper or the old fashioned kind, it really doesn't matter to me.  Matched with the right color of bow and tags is just up my alley.  BUT! I always seen to have soo much of it....And that's with everyone just getting one gift a piece!  I know a lot of people just buy for the kids, which we have considered doing at times as well to be truthful.  But that would still be 11!  And the truth of the matter is I always feel like the kids are the ones who get soo much.  Everyone it seems buys for them. But my young adult kids truly NEED so much it seems and would rather spend their money on their kids, so I honestly LOVE shopping for all of them.  Guess there is just a lot of us.  But I decided it would be less overwhelming to wrap the presents as I get them or they arrive rather than waiting to do it all at the same time as I have done in the past, and so far it is working out well.  Why in the world this has never occurred to me before I can't be sure.  We also moved the furniture a bit in order to open up my big dining room table to set up for this week-end.  This will give me the ability to work on it slowly this week to get it just the way I want it, rather than have it all to do on Sat.  Friday I intend to spend the day baking some pies and some cookies and putting together mom's special salad with cream cheese and pineapple.  Thursday I have a nail appointment and lunch with my long time girl friend Cindy so we can exchange our presents.   Got all of the wash done today while I have been sewing, which leaves of course just Tues and Wednesday to wrap up my projects and get my table all set and ready.  Oh and I need to clean the refrigerator too...sigh, NEVER like that job!  Then on Sat all we will really have to do is make mom's stuffing and get the turkey into the oven, pop the green beans into the crock pot, and give the house a quick vacuum.  I know we just had a turkey dinner at Thanksgiving, but this dinner is all about mom's favorite holiday meal, and that was hands down her turkey and dressing.  And I can ALWAYS eat a turkey dinner, lol.

We had some really cold weather these last few days....well, cold for Southern California!  We barely got out of the 40's and even got some rain too.  I have enjoyed every minute of it, and finally broke down and turned on our heater a little bit in the mornings.  It does make it seem more like Christmas.  I hope you have all been enjoying your weather too.  On Sat., after we got our chores done, LATE in the afternoon, we decided to catch a movie.  We saw the Black Nativity, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  But then I LOVE a musical, and hubby was gracious enough to let me chose.  Sunday we went to church where I held sweet Vinny the whole time, mostly while he napped, though I did enjoy him for a bit before he got sleepy too. After church we took the kids out to lunch and then headed home so we could finish up a few more chores. All in all a GOOD week-end!

Well, I have a few cute pictures to post and then I guess it is back to the old sewing machine for me, haha. Hope everyone is enjoying the season thus far as much as I am.  Not really sure why I am just in the mood for all of this like I am this year, but it just seems to be that way so I am going with it.  Other years it seems I have to push myself for the mood, but for now it just seems to me that life is short, and we need to seize the moments the Lord gives us and live them to the fullest and enjoy, love, and cherish those times.  Fill them with memories whenever we can.

Love, Debbie
LOVE THIS PIC OF SAM....HIS SHIRT SAYS ON THE NICE LIST, HAHA  HE IS GETTING TO BE SUCH A BIG BOY

VINCENT AND GRANDMA....HE IS WEARING THE SHIRT I MADE HIM...SOO CUTE ON HIM, AND SOO TRUE!

MY GRANDSON JD RECENTLY ASKED ME TO MAKE HIM A ROBOT BLANKET....NOT SURE WHY, AND NOT SURE IF THIS IS WHAT HE HAD IN MIND, BUT WHIPPED THIS TOGETHER FOR HIM LAST FRIDAY, AND GIVE IT TO HIM ON SUNDAY.  HE SEEMED PLEASED, LOL
JEFFIE IS FINALLY INTERESTED IN KARATE.  YOU WOULD THINK WITH HIS DADDY OWNING HIS OWN STUDIO AND BEING A 5TH DEGREE BLACK BELT HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN INTERESTED SOME BEFORE HE WAS  9 YEARS OLD, BUT IT HAS JUST NOT BEEN THE CASE.  JOE HAS REFUSED TO PUSH HIM IN ANY WAY.  JEFFIE FINALLY DECIDED THAT MAYBE HE WOULD LIKE TO GIVE IT A WHIRL.  HE HAS TAKEN TO IT LIKE A DUCK TO WATER.  OR MAYBE LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON.  HE WAS RECENTLY PROMOTED TO MASTER WHITE BELT, AND POSED HERE WITH HIS DADDY.  I DON'T KNOW WHO I AM HAPPIER FOR!

It came to my attention that the post I wrote yesterday afternoon was not showing up on anyone's blogging list.  I hadn't had a single comment on it which made me think, 1. I had finally bored everyone to death, or 2.  everyone is REALLY busy right now.  haha  Anyway, trying again....

  1. Oh I hate when the blogrolls don't update. It bites us all eventually.

So you're nearly at the end of your marathon! That's cool. It will give you time to sit by the tree sipping tea and watching Christmas movies. Do you ever do that? LOL

I just love that you're getting together with your siblings. I hope that it wraps you in a blanket of comfort and love.

Vinny is such a cutie. There is nothing better than holding a sleeping baby.

  5. I've finally finished seven doll outfits-thankfully. They are for 18" dolls-like American Girl dolls. I'm so tired today-so much happening and then we are having friends over for dinner. I hope you get to relax and enjoy some of the season. Our days are warming up-to the 30's. I have had such a hard time getting to blogs but I guess I'd better get dinner preps going, even though this is fun. Love the babies...we are blessed.

  6. I agree Debbie... put that sewing machine away for awhile! :) You deserve a break. But isn't it such a wonderful feeling when you get it all done? I hope you can put your feet up and relax with some hot cider, and maybe a cookie or 2. It's the same over here, every day of December is loaded. I am keeping lots of Christmas music going all the time. As the family grows, the list does too, so it's a balancing act so that what we celebrate doesn't get lost in the 'celebrating'.

    Hugs!
