MONDAYS MUSINGS

Well Monday morning is here, almost a full week into the month of May, and time marches on.  I honestly can't believe how fast it goes. Our week-end was a fast one, full of activities, and I enjoyed every minute of it.  Saturday hubby and I decided to just relax.  We "hung out" at the house chatting and discussing life's good times and hard.  We lunched out, caught a movie, and then did our weekly grocery shopping.  We bbq'd some delicious Salmon and then watched a little TV before heading into bed a little early.  On Sunday we got up early as always and headed down to San Diego for church.  It was the women's retreat this week-end (which I decided not to attend...long story, another post!) and my DIL was of course not only in charge of handling MANY, MANY, details for this, she was teaching some of the lessons as well.  And this meant of course my son James had spent his week-end working the 4 kids on his own. Not too bad until Sunday morning I guess, which was a definite challenge. Considering he usually goes to church REALLY early to pray and prepare to teach, it was kind of different getting breakfast for everyone, making sure everyone was dressed properly with hair brushed etc., and having been up the night before with the baby.  Certainly couldn't tell anything was different when he delivered the message however.   A new appreciation for his wife's responsibilities was seen for sure.  Little Donatella was really funny after church as I sat working little Vinny and talking with her as James was busy with people, and hubby was helping with the dismantling of chairs etc.  Her hair was a little "wild" and I told her, let grandma fix your hair a little bit sweetie. She whispered to me, "daddy told me he doesn't know how to do braids grandma, only pony tails.  I don't think he can do those very good either, so I told him it could just be "wild"."  haha.
ENJOYING HIS LUNCH!
After church we went to lunch with James and the kids and enjoyed a nice, leisurely time together.  After that, we headed over to my oldest son's Joe's house who was hosting the birthday celebration for my sister Diane's youngest and only grandson Jacob.  It was SUCH a nice day.  The heat wave had broken and it was a gorgeous 80 degree day outside.  We sat in chairs in the shade, in their HUGE and gorgeous yards, with a cool breeze blowing and watched the kids run around while we enjoyed conversation with the adults.  I hadn't seen my brother Dean since Christmas so it was nice to catch up some with him and meet his new girl friend Heather.  She was a really nice gal, and I think my brother seems very happy.  After enjoying a nice afternoon, eating a tasty meal, and thoroughly enjoying ourselves we left for home. A long, but perfect day.  The only pictures I got on the day (taken by hubby) were NOT good, lol.  The sun was bright and at a bad angle and taken with my i-phone, but you get the idea.

CHECKING OUT HIS CAKE....THE LITTLE OUTFIT I MADE HIM FIT PERFECTLY, AND HE LOOKED SOO CUTE IN IT!

TIME TO BLOW OUT THE CANDLES...HIS BIG SISTER PRISCILLA AND MY LITTLE GRANDSON CODY GOT IN ON THE ACTION, LOL

I will listen to my last video on the Beth Moore study this morning when I finish with this post.  How I have enjoyed this study!  Soo much information to take in and learn from.  I am honestly kind of sorry to see it come to a close.  But I have decided to do another one of her studies on my own.  Don't know which one yet, but if it is even close to her study on Daniel I know it will be a good one.

I am going to finish up the back of the quilt and get it over to the quilters either today or tomorrow.  I need then to quickly get my seat cushions made so I can then concentrate on getting a few things together for little Luke.  He will be a year old on the 28th of May and I can just hardly believe it.  Seems like just yesterday he was born.  Grandpa and I are going out to New Mexico soon to help celebrate this first big milestone, and I am soo looking forward to that. Both boys have grown and changed soo much in the last 3 months I can hardly stand it.  When they are young like that just a few weeks or months makes such a big difference. I will leave you with a few grandkid pictures I couldn't resist sharing, including a really short little video of little Luke in the bathtub doing a few of his little tricks, lol.  Such a happy baby he is. Hope you all have a good week, looking for and appreciating God's many blessings!  Debbie

  1. Oh goodness, another wonderful fun filled post about your sweet and beautiful family! I love reading these and seeing all the pictures of your little ones. Yes, it does seem impossible that Luke is already about to be a year old. And I think it's adorable that Sam goes around with no clothes. My Seth did the same thing for awhile...but we do have close neighbors!
Have a great creative week, Debbie! I know you will! Oh, and Jacob's shirt looks so cute on!

  3. If folks hear of this naked farmer, he could draw a crowd. LOL. I'm sure that your daughter is a busy gal with her darling boys. Love seeing the outfits worn by the intended recipient. Jacob is a cutie pie. Another wonderful weekend for the record books.

  5. The boys are growing up so fast. I think I am more aware of time passing with my grandchildren than I was when my children were young, do you think it's cause we are older or we were just busier then? Love seeing the outfits you made being worn by the recipient. Have a wonderful week.

  6. Joy, Joy, JOY down in my heart to stay...is the name of this post for me! This is great, and I loved that your son saw a new appreciation for his wife, all husbands need that every so often, even though they are good hubbies
The grandkids photos are wonderful. I also loved your time with just your husband...discussing the good times and the bads...life 101, and yet moving forward.
    Have a great week!!

  9. I can hardly believe how fast time is passing either Debbie, just love those special dates with my dh too, as a matter of fact Tuesday is our regular date night, as I write this I am waiting for him to finish dressing and off we go, a ride in the country and dinner at our favorite restaurant.
How proud you both must be of james and his wife, I truly believe when God calls a man to ministry, he also calls the wife, it certainly seems they do work well as a team.
You have the sweetest and cutest grand children, of course I don't have to tell you this you already know it. ~smile~
Thanks for sharing your most blessed life, I always leave here smiling.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  10. I love your beautiful grandchildren! The tub video was precious, and naked farmer big brother is so funny. Why is it that it's usually the boys who love to escape naked?

My favorite picture award this time goes to Clara Barton, though. I love that! Little ones in costumes for school days happen to be a favorite memory of mine.

And for what it's worth? I think my favorite B.M of all time was To Live is Christ, but I also love The Patriarchs. I also put James in my top tier, but I think you recently did a study on James with your son, didn't you? Maybe I'm wrong.

  11. The little outfit you made is adorable. You're so talented! I'm with Debbie who commented above me. I think Daniel was my favorite Beth Moore study, but James ranks right up there. I also got so so much out of her study on the Fruit of the Spirit. Its called Living Beyond Yourself and was one of her earlier studies she redid a few years ago.
