Well it's Friday afternoon and I am whipped. Such a busy, HOT week I have had. I suddenly had found myself realizing that we are leaving next Tues. or Wed. (depending on hubby's work schedule!) and I needed to complete all my projects I want to bring, plus get my hair and nails done etc. Didn't think I had that much left on my list of projects to bring, but as it turned out I did. Let me just show you...quicker that way as I do know but can hardly make myself do. Just too gabby I guess. Anyway, first of all I made Sam and Luke's 4th of July outfits.
|
I WAS VERY PLEASED AS I NEEDED TO MAKE THIS DESIGN IN TWO DIFFERENT SIZES TO ACCOMMODATE A 3 TODDLER AND AN 18 MONTH BABY. WASN'T SURE I'D BE ABLE TO FIGURE IT OUT. BUT IT WORKED JUST FINE. SERIOUSLY, THE EMBROIDERY MACHINE JUST KEEPS GETTING EASIER... |
|
SAM'S |
|
LUKE'S JUST HAVE TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO THE APPLIQUED STAR...I ACTUALLY "FUSSY" CUT THAT STAR TO FIT IN THERE LIKE THAT...SOO UNLIKE ME, HAHA, BUT I REALLY WANTED IT THERE! SAM'S STAR WAS TOO BIG FOR THAT FABRIC TO WORK |
And then I already told you about the fabric to make the patriotic jammies I bought...well, it arrived late Wed afternoon, so I made these up this morning. They came out super cute, so now all I have to hope is that they fit them
|
PATRIOTIC ALL RIGHT...LOL. SOO CUTE, AND SUPER EASY TO MAKE...SURE HOPE THEY FIT! |
|
JUST A LITTLE CLOSER LOOK AT ONE...THIS IS LUKE'S |
Oh, I took some pics of hubby's hair cut...let me show you. Let me just tell you this too. He NEVER smiles in a picture. Not sure why. So when people tell him to smile he has this
fake ridiculous funny smile he uses. So as to not have that smile in these pictures I simply made him laugh...much better!
|
NOT BAD HUH? FOR FREE IT CAN'T BE BEAT! OH, AND JUST SO YOU KNOW, THAT PART ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER OF THE BACK JUST NEEDS TO BE SMOOTHED. IT IS NOT THINNER THEN THE OTHER SIDE, LOL |
|
MELODY AND NICHOLE |
And then, I think I mentioned a while back that I wanted to bless Melody's friend/cousin-in-law with a gift for her new baby girl that is due in July. She will be at Luke's party it seemed the perfect time to bring it along and give it to her. Well, there is a little story about that. If you recall, (or read) I got that gal from my favorite embroidery design spot to design me a design using a scripture that Melody thought would be perfect for her friend. Well, when I did my trial one (I almost always do out a practice one when using a new design) Melody didn't think it would suit the nursery that she knew Nichole is putting together for her baby. It was kind of "cutesy" (which is a big NO NO these days, lol) and her nursery is more elegant and classy etc. Soooo I got REALLY brave and played around with the design myself and took ALL of the cutesy things off and made the font bigger on the scripture etc. But then we both decided it looked too plain. So then, I came up with a couple of fabric jewels, a little pale pink bow, and I think we have a winner. Now it is technically not done as hubby still has to frame it. But MY part is done, lol, so let me show you...
|
LOVE THIS SCRIPTURE! |
AND THEN....I decided that I wanted to make her a pillow with the baby's name on it too. No reason I needed to give her two things, but I just wanted to. And neither one of these gifts cost me much of anything at all. Sooo let me tell you the little story behind the pillow. I designed the front of it myself!! haha. Not that it is all that complicated as it is just the baby's name with some squiggly designs on the side of it. But I had to put the design on sideways to get it to fit, and it was all pretty "ify" as to rather it would even work, but it did. And then! for the back of the pillow I decided to go with a patchwork of sorts. I think I should mention here that she is doing the nursery in whites, creams, tans, and touches of pale pink. Anyway, I took the design to the quilting store and bought 4 little quarter of yards of some yummy looking Moda fabric in just these shades. I put together 16 4 x 4 squares and then placed a piece of warm and natural behind it and machine quilted it myself with a decorative stitch. I thoroughly enjoyed myself doing this little project. Then I picked one of the fabrics and make a piping to go around the pillow to match. So here is the pillow...
|
LOVE HER NAME! CAN'T REALLY TELL HERE BUT THERE ARE TWO SHADES OF THREAD. A TAN AND A GOLDISH TAN |
|
I REALLY LOVED HOW THIS CAME OUT AND WITH IT BEING QUILTED WITH WARM AND NATURAL, IT IS SUPER SOFT |
|
CLOSER LOOK AT SOME OF THE QUILTING STITCHES |
I did get my hair done on Thursday, but my nails are still a mess. Think I will have to get to that on Monday. I have been catching up all my laundry today too. OH!! And it has been sooo HOT! I'd like to say I haven't uttered a single complaint, but oh that would be such a lie! I just don't do well in the heat. I think it is because of my lack of being able to take any estrogen and hot flashes are just part of my life and you add on 106 degree heat and a faulty air conditioner and LOTS to sew and I was just kind of grumpy come evening. My poor hubby. Though the air conditioner guy is SUPPOSED to be coming late this afternoon. Sure hope so as I might melt away. And my poor son was on the verge of being evacuated in San Diego last night, but they made it through, thank God. All those poor people involved really have something to be upset about. It DID make me feel bad for complaining. I will leave you with some darling grandkid pics. Sorry this is soo long, (if you are even still here, lol) and hope that you all have a wonderful and restful week-end! Ours is supposed to be MUCH cooler!! YAY!!

Where to start? I love the jammies and the patriotic outfits! And of course, love seeing all the pics of your grands, as always! But that pillow ... I just love it!! The patchwork is perfect for the back! You are just SO creative!
ReplyDeleteHow nice those outfits are, I showed my husband and he was so impressed and with the hair cut too. You did a good job. The kids looks great. I am so glad your son and his family are okay.
ReplyDelete106??? Gosh so much hotter than us. That is just terrible, I bet you were miserable. I do hope the cool downs come soon. My daughter is in Monterey and it is 60 degrees!
I thought that sounded so nice.
You sound like you got most of it done. I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Oh, I am feeling your pain with the heat. Heat, especially with humidity (which we have in the summer time), puts me in a panic. I, too, try not to complain, and then I do it anyway. Miserable. Glad you're having a cool down this weekend...and hope your air conditioning is put to rights by the time it heats up again!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pillow, cute kids' clothes, great haircut...is there no end to your talents, girl?! :D
Beautiful work. Such adorable grandkids! Have a fabulous time with the little ones in New Mexico! Safe travels!!
ReplyDeletexo Kris
What? You cut his hair to save some moolah, but don't let him cut yours?! Hahahahahahaha...
ReplyDeleteYou really are a talented gal...you cut hair and create such lovely outfits for the grands and gifts for everybody. Amazing!
I wondered if any of the family would be affected by the fires. So very glad that the danger passed by for your son and his family. Praise God!
Your work is unreal. That machine has already paid for itself in all you have made. I dream of doing things like that, but that is as far as I get...dream.
ReplyDeleteOh the beach pictures are wonderful...and your grands...you sure do have a GRAND Life. Enjoy your trip
Love those jammies, they are adorable and the pillow and scripture were just beautiful, I know Mel's friend is gonna love them. I hope you enjoy your visit
