A NEW OUTFIT AND THE CONTINUING SEWING MACHINE SAGA

It's already late afternoon on Thursday MID WAY through November.  Goodness time just keeps whipping by SOOO fast.  I have had a busy week.  I finished up all of my Rudolph ornaments, and spent some time getting the supplies and watching tutorials on making quilted Christmas ornaments. I have seen them done a few times and have always loved them so decided to try my hand at them this year.  Haven't made any yet so not sure how it is going to go. I am really hoping that they won't be my dreaded "fiddly" lol.  I have enough scrap fabric to make hundreds I think....an exaggeration of course, but I do have a lot, lol.  And then I spent yesterday helping the girls get together their orders for their new business.  I think they were both a little surprised that there was more to it then one might think, lol.  Bibs and hair turbans and head bands are simple enough that's for sure, but it still is LOTS of work.  I think they might be re-thinking this part of the business.  I told them that honestly it is one of the reasons I have never started my own Etsy business.  Unless someone is WAY WAY WAY speedier then I am (and honestly I am pretty fast!) there is NO way you are ever paid for your time.  Not that you couldn't make money of course, depending especially on what you are selling (and it wouldn't be bibs and hair turbans, lol) but your time just honestly can't be factored in.  It's time consuming....period.  So I guess we will see what happens there.  Meanwhile, we did get all of their orders filled.

Today I got my nails done and then spent some time shopping for an outfit to wear for our family picture.  Let me just say this about this LONG adventure.  I ended up getting something that was soo different for me I still can't believe I purchased it.  I never wear a plain color....never.  I just don't think it's flattering on me.  I almost never buy anything in white or tan (I bought both!) and I got some jewelry too.  I NEVER wear anything with the exception of a very rare pair of ear rings, and of course my wedding ring.  I have no idea how I will feel the day it is time to put it all on and actually wear it, but at that point it will be what it is, lol.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if it could morph me into a younger, MUCH thinner new woman?  (yes, I hear the song Dream, Dream Dream in my head...anyone remember that?)  I did take a selfie and send it to Melody for her opinion, and she LOVED it... very, very surprised that I had actually picked it out, lol  I almost went so far as to get some boots to wear with it as well (and NO I don't even own a single pair!) but lets not not get completely carried away, lol.  Though, I am not sure what I am going to wear on my feet with this ensemble.

The story on the sewing machine did not end well.  sigh...They (the store owner) was really not very sympathetic or apologetic even over what had happened, and pretty much offered NOTHING to compensate us for the loss.  He tried to claim that no one stores designs on the machine, and in fact, he had no idea it would even do that.  We should have backed them up somewhere or taken them off every time I was done with one etc apparently.  But like my hubby pointed out to him WHY would anyone do that?  You have a design you love and use frequently, why not store it on the machine to use whenever you'd like instead of re-downloading it from a jump drive every time?  Not to mention the fact, OBVIOUSLY the machine does that.  I doubt I made that up and then figured out a way to do something the Bernina people never even thought of.  Give me a break...surely he could do better then that?  Soooo now I think we are going to go straight to Bernina themselves and complain about this dealer etc.  I can't bear things like this.  Now I can't go into the shop to buy my supplies either.  I need the threads, the stabilizers, needles etc., and honestly I don't know anywhere close where they are even sold.  But I just can't in good conscience patronize this store anymore.  Soo this story I guess continues on.

I don't know about any of you but I have officially begun my Christmas shopping too.  Sooo much to do.  Guess I will wrap this up for now.  Hope you all have GOOD week-ends.  Hopefully I will soon have some gorgeous quilted Christmas ornaments to show you next time I post, (that weren't the list bit fiddly!) and oh yeah, my Christmas tree skirt (starting that any minute!) lol.  I will leave you with a couple of pictures from Mel.  Just too cute to resist, and always make me smile.  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

LUKE AND SAM WITH THEIR VERY FIRST HOT CHOCOLATE EVER!  THEY LOVED IT NEEDLESS TO SAY...THE LOOK ON LUKE'S FACE JUST CRACKS ME UP!  THEY GOT THEIR FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON TODAY!
AND A PICTURE OF THE SNACKS SHE MADE THEM TODAY....I THINK SHE MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN HER MOTHER'S LOVE OF CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS...LOL  (IT'S STILL NOVEMBER MEL!)  THEY LOVE IT THOUGH!

MELODY JUST HAPPENED TO GLANCE IN THE MIRROR (THANK GOODNESS, LOL) ON HER WAY TO THE STORE AND REALIZED SHE HAD NEVER REMOVED THE STICKER SAM HAD PUT ON HER FOREHEAD WHILE HE PLAYED....OH LIFE WITH TODDLERS, LOL

  1. I'm so sorry to hear that the store wasn't any help for you. :-( Since you know what you need, perhaps you can order that online? Hopefully there's another Bernina dealer nearby who will be able to service your. Achine in the future.

I can't wait to see your Christmas ornaments. I have my last one sewn together. I just need to sew on the little jingle bells and ribbon. I'm hoping to get them finished by Thanksgiving so they'll have them to put up on the tree this year.

  4. I am sure that it is frustrating having your embroidery downloads go "poof." Hopefully, you'll be able to get them back somehow.

I hope you'll share your family Christmas photo with your readers!

The photo of your daughter with the candy cane sticker on her forehead made me smile! Yes, life with toddlers...

  5. Those boys are so cute, and I would imagine they thought it was magic they were drinking. LOL So sorry to hear the sewing machine story didn't turn out well. This is not good news, and yes, so odd that the dealer didn't know what his own machines could do. The silver lining in the post is the new outfit - and go ahead, get those boots! :-)

  6. Okay, now we want to see you once you get all "decked out" in your new outfit.:o)))

So aggravating about the stores response to your issue with your sewing machine. Not good customer service at all.

Mel is going to have her hands so full once this next baby gets here. I can't even imagine but these young folks have so much energy.

    Happy weekend!

  7. I was hoping you would share your selfie with us too:) Maybe we will get to see the family picture. Congratulations on stepping out of your comfort zone and buying a color you rarely do. One can do that at our age...right?

The pictures are so cute, especially the one with your daughter's sticker happening. I can relate to that.

You inspire me to get moving in the Christmas preparation category. Thank you!

  8. So many fun things going on with you! Shame on that store for not being sympathetic for your lost designs. I wonder if you could order your things online? I bet you could.
It makes no sense to remove your designs. Why would anyone do that? Crazy!
I had to chuckle at Mel's forehead. I have done the same thing!
I am tempted to have my nails done. I love the look, and they make my chubby, breakfast sausage fingers look so much better. But I am so active in the yard and such, and cleaning my house, I just wonder if it would be a mistake.
    Have a great weekend!
    xo Kris
