HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I wrote a nice long Thanksgiving post yesterday morning, only to "somehow" lose the whole thing...sigh. Hate when that happens, though truthfully it has been quite a while.  Anyway, I will never be able to duplicate it, so guess I will just try again.  We had a busy, long, action packed week-end, and even though we were both whipped Sunday night we were glad at all we accomplished.  We actually finished all of our Christmas shopping (with the exception of one gift for little Luke) which was not only NEVER in my plans,  it also has NEVER happened in our 40 years of celebrating Christmas together either. I have struggled and  sought to have my shopping out of the way before Thanksgiving in the past, but no matter how I tried, it just didn't happen.  It's a nice feeling I am not going to lie, lol.  All of our decorations are up and ready as well, so it looks a lot more like Christmas over here then Thanksgiving.  Meanwhile yesterday I finished up my last tree leaving only 1 scripture picture to finish all of my "pre-Chirstmas" gifts, along with getting my nails done and running SEVERAL errands. Not sure when or why I first got started on "pre-Christmas" presents, but I have been doing it for a few years now and actually almost enjoy these more then the actual Christmas presents, lol.  They usually consist of  making PJ's for all the grandkids, plus this year I added in pillow cases.  And then I make each family some sort of Christmas decoration.  This year it was the trees, the ornaments, and the scripture pictures.  I soo thoroughly enjoy doing this and it keeps me VERY busy that's for sure. I give it all to them on Thanksgiving so that they have it to enjoy through the whole month of December.  This year I also made myself 3 Christmas quilts, so I really went kind of nuts, lol.  But it is almost all done and now I can make my tree skirt with no sense of urgency and I will probably continue to make some more ornaments.  I continue to find that whole process wonderfully therapeutic.  But now, thinking back over this last year I have soo much to be thankful for.  At the very top of my list as always is God and my relationship with Him.  He is my source of comfort and strength in the dark and difficult seasons of my life, and my joy and peace when all is well.  He is ALWAYS there for me no matter what the circumstances, and my biggest hearts desire would be that all would come to know Him and experience this for themselves, and to know that their salvation is theirs for the asking and believing,  Next on my list would be gratitude for the man the good Lord blessed me with almost 40 years ago now.  He keeps me laughing, cared for, and loved.  He is my forever best friend and together we have faced the storms of this life and enjoyed those mountain top moments as well.  I have no idea what I ever did to deserve such a man, but I will be forever grateful. Then there are my children of course, and the in law children they have brought to our family.  How blessed I am in each of these categories honestly I don't know if I could ever express it enough.  And that brings me to the eleven grandchildren (with one more on the way!) that provide me with more joy then I would have ever thought possible.  The role of grandma is one of life's VERY best blessings, and I am soo thankful He put these precious people in my life.  Then there are my friends, all of you, my home, my health and on and on and ON the list could go.  Yes, there is much to be thankful for and I never want to take a single thing for granted.  We will spend Thanksgiving Day at my oldest son's house, though my other two sons will be eating with their in-laws this year.  I am only bringing a salad to the meal and am grateful that I am a guest and my responsibilities are small. (grin) Melody and her little family will arrive early tomorrow morning, and I know you all know I can't wait to get my hands on those babies.  I want to wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!  May we all count our blessings, ENJOY our feasts, and remember to Whom all blessings flow.  Blessings and joy to you!  Debbie

Psalm 26:7   That I may proclaim with the voice of Thanksgiving, and tell of all your wondrous works!

Psalm 100:4  Enter into His gaits with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.  Be thankful to Him and bless His name.
