SEWING FOR MY COMING GRAND DAUGHTER AND SOME SNOW PICS!

It's late Monday afternoon and there is just a couple of days left in December.  I have spent the day catching up laundry and at my sewing machine.  Melody sent me some fabric she bought and wanted me to make some bloomers, rompers, and little dresses with it for her coming baby.  I have gotten the things I needed to make matching hair bows and hair bands and honestly I have been soo excited to get busy on it, I have hardly been able to restrain myself until hubby went back to work, lol.  He has been off since Christmas Eve and honestly we both have enjoyed it thoroughly.  We of course had our gatherings on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but other than that we have spent our time doing a whole bunch of nothing.  And it just doesn't seem like we get many days like that anymore. We went to a couple of movies, (already told you about Unbroken...the other was Big Eyes) hit a couple of our favorite restaurants, lots of football, (ok, that was mainly hubby!) a nap or maybe even two, old movies on TV, and got started on my new book.  All in all, VERY relaxing.  We did take down our tree yesterday, so I guess that was pretty constructive.  It is always the most time consuming of both our decorating and un-decorating chores, so truthfully we were both glad to get that out of the way. The rest of it (both inside and out) will hopefully get done on New Years day. For some reason that has become our ritual which doesn't necessarily seem like a good way to spend that particular day, but it has just been what we always do.  It really shouldn't take us too long now that the tree is out of the way.  I hope you all have had some relaxing days as well.  I guess little bloomers are really popular for baby girls right now as is rompers and BIG hair bows, lol, so Melody and I have spent quite a bit of time online looking on Etsy and Pintrest for ideas.  I have ordered a pattern for rompers, but I had a cute on for bloomers, and some little tops and dresses.  I just made some of the bloomers today as I need some bias tape for the dresses and tops and didn't have any.  Didn't want to run to the store so guess I will do that tomorrow and make a couple of them then.  But she intends to use the bloomers with little oneies or even by themselves anyway, so let me show you today's work.

3 BLOOMERS, AND 4 HAIR BANDS.  I MADE ONE OF THE BOWS FOR THE SECOND ONE SMALL JUST TO SEE HOW THE SMALLER BOWS LOOK AS MELODY REALLY PREFERS SMALLER BOWS FOR NEWBORNS.  BUT IT WAS MORE "FIDDLY" AND I DON'T THINK IT'S AS CUTE...THESE BLOOMERS LOOK BIGGER THAN THEY ARE.  THEY ARE ALL CUT SUPPOSEDLY FOR BABIES 7 - 12 POUNDS.  HOPEFULLY THEY WILL NOT DROWN HER AT FIRST, AND YET SHE CAN WEAR MOST OF THE SUMMER

LITTLE CLOSER LOOK AT THIS SET...MELODY PICKED SOME CUTE FABRIC

THE FABRIC HAIR BOW WAS SOOO EASY AND QUICK.  TOOK MAYBE 10 MINUTES!

THIS BLOOMER PATTERN WAS SOO EASY AND CUTE
ANOTHER SET.  I USED ONE OF THE FABRIC FLOWERS FOR THIS HEAD BAND.  THE COLOR HERE IS NOT VERY GOOD.  IT IS SUCH A PRETTY COLOR AND MATCHES THE BLOOMERS PERFECTLY!

CLOSER LOOK AT HEAD BAND

MY PERSONAL FAVORITE.  LOVED THE FABRIC.  SOO SWEET

AND THIS HEAD BAND WENT WITH THE FABRIC SOO WELL AS THE BAND IS MADE OUT OF A STRETCH LACE, AND THE FABRIC IS CUPCAKES SITTING ON LACE DOLLIES.  ADORABLE!  CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HER LITTLE HEAD SPORTING THIS!

Will probably work on these type of things for a while as Melody can't seem to settle on a pattern and fabric for the nursery.  I could make a million of these...I guess not really....but kind of....they are soo fun and right up my alley.  I wish these bows existed when Melody was a baby as she would have worn one every day.  She had NO hair until she was almost two and I had to tape bows to her head, lol.

Well don't have much else so I guess I will get off here and put dinner in the oven.  I will leave you with a couple of pics of Melody's boys playing in the snow.  Maybe one more post in 2014.  Seems hard to believe....Blessings to you all!  Debbie

THEY KIND OF REMIND ME HERE OF RALPHIE AND RANDY ON THE MOVIE CHRISTMAS STORY.  LOOKS LIKE LUKE CAN'T GET HIS ARMS DOWN...LOL.  THEY DON'T GET MUCH SNOW, SO WHEN IT DOES SNOW THEY HAVE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT.

HIS FIRST TASTE OF SNOW...LITERALLY!  LOL  NOTICE BAXTER IN THE BACK IN HIS SWEATER!

SAM IS LOVING LIFE HERE MAKING HIS SNOW ANGELS!

We are having some REALLY cool weather this week for sunny California.  Highs in the 50's and lows in the low 30's!  I h ;ad to break down and turn on my heat for the first time this morning!  lol
