THIS WEEKS CATCH UP!

Well seriously I can't believe a whole week has gone by since I posted.  And it wasn't that it was such a "fast" week as time goes either.  It seemed L O N G...Maybe because it was the first full week with no holidays or special events or anything we have had in a while.  But whatever the case it is Saturday again and I thought I might try to catch this up.  I spent Mon, Tues and Wednesday at the sewing machine....I know, SHOCKER, lol.  I am just soo enjoying sewing for this new baby I can't really describe it.  Brings me such joy.  I got out the embroidery attachment one of the days (can't remember now, not important anyway) and decided to do a little applique and embroidery work just to change things up a bit.  I personally LOVED these next two little outfits, and they didn't cost much of anything at all either which is always a good feel.  I used some of the fabric I found at the store going out of business which means I got SUCH  a good deal on it.  I can't remember if I ever told you that I finally got over there and got 5 nice pieces of fabric to use for baby clothes at a REALLY good price.  Nothing I make for her takes over a yard so it worked well.  Anyway,  let me show you those first...

I LOVE THIS!  CUTE, COMFY, AND EASY...THAT'S WHAT I LIKE FOR BABIES, LOL  I PUT THIS DESIGN ON A ONESIE THAT I  PICKED UP AT JOANNE'S WITH A 50 PERCENT OFF COUPON SO I GOT A PACKAGE OF 5 FOR 4 BUCKS...CAN'T BEAT THAT.  THEN, I HAD SEEN THIS BIRD DESIGN MONTHS AND MONTHS AGO AND JUST HAD STORED IT IN THE BACK OF MY MIND HOPING I'D HAVE A LITTLE GIRL TO USE IT FOR SOME DAY.  IT'S JUST SOO CUTE BUT LET'S FACE IT...SOOO GIRLY, LOL.  THIS LITTLE BIRDIE WILL PROBABLY FIND IT'S WAY ONTO A BURP CLOTH OR SOMETHING ELSE BEFORE I AM DONE.  SHE'S JUST SO CUTE.  AND I LOVED THE SIMPLE LITTLE BLUE FLOWERS OF THIS FABRIC.  WONDER IF THIS BABY WILL HAVE MELODY'S BLUE EYES?  IF SO THIS WILL LOOK ESPECIALLY CUTE ON HER.  YOU ONLY NEED A HALF YARD OF FABRIC TO MAKE THESE BLOOMERS AND MATCHING BOWS MEANING THEY ARE VERY INEXPENSIVE TO MAKE.  I JUST HOPE THEY FIT HER WELL.

AND THEN THIS PICTURE AND COLORS ARE BOTH BLURRY AND NOT TRUE TO WHAT THEY ARE SO THAT KEEPS THIS FROM LOOKING ALL THAT GREAT.  BUT THE EMBROIDERY THREADS MATCH THE FABRIC PRETTY MUCH PERFECTLY, LOL.  AND I LOVE THE SIMPLE DADDY'S GIRL DESIGN.  WE USED TO CALL MELODY (ONE OF HER MANY LITTLE NICKNAMES GROWING UP) THE LITTLE GREY KITTY SO THIS FABRIC WAS A MUST HAVE, LOL.

And then, another one of the days I made this next little dress.  It was sooo quick and easy that honestly I think it took a half hour.  And yes, that's my kind of dress.  NO fiddly little arm holes which made it even more appealing.  It has matching little bloomers and called for two pockets but I only put one.  I will DEFINITELY be making some more of these for ALL of the above reasons, lol. And it comes up a little in the back making for a cute little view of that sweet little bottom.  And the fabric for this dress was also got at the going out of business store and is just adorable.  Let me show you.

HOW DARLING ARE THOSE LITTLE BIRDS?  AND THE POCKET IS OF LITTLE DRAGON FYS AS IS THE INSIDE OF THE DRESS.

BAD PIC OF THE BACK OF IT, BUT YOU CAN SEE THE STYLE ANYWAY

CLOSE UP OF THE SWEET LITTLE BOW/HAND BAND.  JUST WANTED YOU TO SEE HOW I MANAGED TO GET A LITTLE BIRD IN THE CENTER...SOO CUTE
And then...I decided to make another little romper/sun suit.  It had occurred to me one day (who knows why or how my brain works,or doesn't for that matter) of another way I could do the straps that wouldn't require sitting for who knows how long turning them inside out.  It worked perfectly!  I used some of the fabric Melody sent me and put a bow on the front of it for a totally different look. She LOVES it.  As a matter of fact, it is her definite fave at of all I have made for her so far.  Let me show you...

BECAUSE OF THE POOR PHOTOGRAPHY IN THESE IT IS REALLY HARD TO SEE THE DETAILS WHICH PROBABLY MAKES YOU WONDER WHY I BOTHER, LOL.  SOME DAY I WILL ADDRESS THIS...HONEST.  BUT THE FABRIC IS A SOFT SHADE OF LIGHTISH OLIVE GREEN WITH LITTLE TINY PINEAPPLES ON IT.  (MELODY IS SOMEWHAT OBSESSED WITH PINEAPPLES FOR SOME REASON, LOL) AND THE BUTTONS I HAD ON HAND MATCHED PERFECTLY.  I LOVE WHEN THAT HAPPENS.  I ALSO ADDED A REALLY NICE DECORATIVE STITCH ON THE STRAPS AND AROUND THE FRONT.  SHE WILL WEAR JUST A PLAIN BAND WITH THIS ONE I THINK.  SOO SWEET.
And then let's see what else did I do this week?  Wednesday night was women's group...always good. And Thursday I got my hair done.  My roots were getting pretty bad so that was a good feeling.  And yesterday I got my hands and feet done and then went to Hobby Lobby.  How I LOVE that store.  I got some soft pretty flannels to make her nighties with, a couple of coordinating fabrics for some bibs, AND some glitter fabric squares for bows which I can't wait to try, lol.

I had wanted to give Melody a little sprinkle shower for this baby.  More to celebrate the fact that she is having a girl then because she really "NEEDS" anything much for babies.  But goodness there are soo many etiquette rules on such things these days.  Many people believe one shower or on your first baby only is all you are "supposed" to get.  My feeling is what difference does it really make HOW MANY parties, celebrations, or showers you get?  I didn't want people to feel they HAVE to buy her anything of course, but let's face it, what women doesn't like to buy little girl clothes or accessories?  And Melody of course has NOTHING for girls.  Plus I just wanted to get the women of the family together and celebrate with her, and spend some time praying as well that all goes well.  I've told you all this to explain that I had to talk Mel into this a bit.  She felt like it was not necessary and she didn't want people to feel obligated or burdened.  But once I convinced her that it just wasn't the case and that I WANTED to see her again before she has the baby, (as do her aunts and cousins) she finally gave in.  I will admit I look for excuses for her to come to California as often as I can as well.  I still struggle with her being so far away.  Anyway, we are "trying" to keep it small.  Family only with the exception of her two best friends who miss her as well.  Melody cannot fly in her last trimester with her unique set of female issues, so we were running out of time.  Bottom line we got that scheduled this week for the 7th of of February, and she booked her flight.  She is coming by herself as Mike has lots going on at the dairy right now and can't really get away, and she is leaving the boys as well. She didn't want to fly with two such little ones by herself and I certainly understand that, but this grandma was a little disappointed over that.  But hey, I will take what I can get.  But because she is coming alone and needs to get back to the boys, she isn't staying very long either. Arriving on Sat., and leaving on Monday morning...sigh.  I would have liked more time, (especially if I was getting her to myself) but again, I am grateful she is coming at all.  And that Sunday that she is here hubby and I are going to renew our vows and celebrate our 40 years of marriage with an anniversary party too. Truthfully. I think this is how I got her to come at all as she wanted to be part of that.  But more on that later.  This is WAY too long as it is and I've lots to do today as well.

One quick last thing...Melody had her anatomy scan done (a little late!) done this week as well and all is well.  Soo good to hear that.  They confirmed it is indeed a girl (can you imagine after all these clothes I've made if it hadn't been?  lol) and that she is doing well.  She DOES have two kidneys (I was praying she wouldn't take after her mama) and they are both functioning, and her little heart seems perfect.  So all answered prayer and I am grateful.

Looks like we might get a little rain today.  It's a little chilly again so I put my jeans back on today (I was in capri's this week!) and closed all but one of my windows, lol.  I hope you all have a good week-end.  Blessings to you all, Debbie
