TRYING SOO HARD NOT TO OVER DO!

Well it's late Thursday afternoon and I have done some debating about rather or not I should even post.  Here is the bottom line.  ALL of my posts are the same, lol.  Me showing you what I've sewn for the week, and you all wondering what on earth is with this lady?  Is sewing ALL she does?  And I guess the answer to that would be...pretty much.  lol.   I do the chores I must...dishes, laundry, cooking, picking up etc., and I do my devotional for the day, chat on the phone when anyone seems to have the time to talk, and the rest of my time is spent parked at my sewing machine.  I am having SOOO much fun sewing for this coming baby girl I am thinking that it is taking everything in me NOT to over do it.  I mean after all she will grow quickly and can only wear so much.  And yet....it's soo fun to do, lol.  And costs soo little.  And most of the things I have been making are soo easy.  I have to tell you what's been on this weeks creating table.  Legging pants and little shoes!  Now the legging pants I knew would be easy, but honestly I was still surprised that they were as quick as they are.  I can make a pair in 15 minutes. There is only 1 pattern piece (which I bought online) and 4 steps and you are done.  The pattern I downloaded will work for newborn - 6T so that'a pretty good news too.  They are SOOO tiny! Trust me they will fit a newborn for sure.  She can probably wear them though only a couple of months and she will have to move on.  Grandma can have the next size all ready to go though.  The other thing that is such a plus is that I have all kinds of scrap fabric that I can use, making them virtually free as well.  Melody sent me over 3 cute pieces of knit she had picked out (she is starting to get as excited about fabric as her mother, lol. A day I never thought I'd see) and I made those first.  They came out SOOO cute I kind of went beserk after that and made SEVERAL more.  I added things to some (bows and little flowers) and I will confess I bought a few pieces as well.  Knit is on sale right now at Joannes, and I only need a half of yard to make both the pants and a matching hair piece,  so for around 3 or 4 bucks I can get them both.  Not bad.  So I guess I should show you these....(I wish you could see them in person...they are soo little.  My sister Diane saw them today (we met at Hobby Lobby and then had lunch..) and was SOO surprised they were so little.  lol  Each of these will have the matching hair accessory pictured above it.

SOME OF THE FABRIC MELODY BOUGHT.  SHE HAS A REAL THING FOR PINEAPPLES I TELL YOU, LOL.  THIS FABRIC IS ADORABLE THOUGH

MELODY PICKED THIS TOO AND HONESTLY IT MADE UP CUTER THAN I THOUGHT IT MIGHT,

SHE PICKED THIS PLAID TOO WHICH IS SUPER CUTE

OK, THE REST ARE MINE...I HAD THIS FABRIC IN MY STASH.  ADDED A BOW TO THIS ONE AND CHANGED UP THE HEAD PIECE A BIT

AND THIS IS JUST LIKE THE FABRIC I USE TO MAKE THINGS FOR MY NIECES BUSINESS.  MELODY LOVED THE DIFFERENT PATTERNED LEGS.  SOO POPULAR RIGHT NOW.  AND THE HEAD TURBAN IS A MODIFIED VERSION OF WHAT I MAKE FOR JESSIE FOR A NEWBORN

MORE FABRIC SCRAPS I HAD.  I THINK I MADE A DRESS FOR DONATELLA OUT OF THIS ORIGINALLY

LOVED THIS!  I HAD THIS FABRIC TOO.  MELODY LOVED THE BIG BOW ON THE FRONT.  THE LITTLE HEAD PIECE WAS MADE OUT OF A STRETCH BEADED LACE I ALREADY HAD TOO.  DON'T REMEMBER WHY.  I WILL ADMIT I DO LIKE COMING UP WITH THINGS TO DO WITH MY SCRAPS.

THIS FABRIC I BOUGHT.  JUST COULDN'T RESIST.  I AM GOING TO EMBROIDER A LITTLE ONESIE TO GO WITH THIS ONE THAT WILL SAY "LIL SIS" ON IT USING THE SAME FABRIC.
So how fun was that....And then, here's where I really might go totally off the charts, lol.  I have always wanted to know how to make the little shoes you see everywhere all over Etsy and Instagram. But truthfully, I do not like PDF patterns much (though I do have a few) and I had found that Simplicity had a perfect one, but they wanted 17 dollars for it.  Seemed like WAY too much for me. But! Simplicity patterns are 1 dollar this week at Joannes (though you can only buy 5 at a time...which seems dumb as you can just drive to another store, or come another day and buy 5 more) so I swooped up the pattern and decided to give it a whirl.  I knew they called for SOO little fabric I could easy make them out of scraps too.  I have to confess that I originally had a problem or two with these, and ALMOST threw in the towel.  But I can be pretty stubborn and I just kept ripping out and starting over until I had it right.  Once I figured out what I was doing wrong I was astonished I was making such a dumb stupid simple mistake.  But they finally came out right and I have made 4 pairs now!  Including a pair of glitter ones.  Glitter is everywhere on Etsy too so I dug around online for a while to see what they were using to do such a thing, and found out you can make them from little squares of fabric glitter that you can buy at Hobby Lobby for 1.35.  So for l.35 she will have glitter shoes and a matching glitter bow.  I doubt I will make many more of the glitter ones even at that cheap price as they were WAY WAY more fiddly and kind of hard to maneuver through my sewing machine.  And the bows on the front of the shoes were downright HARD, lol.  I burnt my fingers with the hot glue a few times getting them right.  But the others I am making out of flannel, though you can use any fabric you might chose really.  It's just that I have SOOO much flannel scrap. Anyway, let me show you the shoes...

THE FIRST ONES...I ADDED A LITTLE BOW AND AN EMBELLISHMENT AS WELL

I LOVE THIS FABRIC AND SO DOES MEL...SHE WILL HAVE A NIGHTIE OUT OF THIS, A BURP CLOTH, AND A SWADDLING BLANKET TOO.  DIANE IS ADDING CROCHET AROUND THE EDGE OF THE SWADDLER RIGHT NOW AND IS GOING TO PUT IT AROUND THE NIGHTGOWN TOO (THOUGH I NEED TO GET IT MADE FIRST, LOL)
SOO SWEET...REMEMBER THIS FABRIC?  I MADE HER A BLANKET OUT OF IT ALREADY

AND HERE ARE THE FAMOUS GLITTER ONES WITH A MATCHING BOW

JUST HAD TO SHOW HER WHOLE ENSEMBLE, THOUGH I GUESS SHE WILL NEED A TOP OF SOME SORT, LOL

HER ENTIRE SHOE COLLECTION FOR NOW...I HAVE A FEELING THIS PILE WILL GROW...THEY ARE FREE AFTER ALL...LOL
And I thought I'd show you a picture of the mama to be.  The most astonishing thing about these pictures is that 3 year old Sam took them. lol/  He is REALLY good at it.  She told him to make sure Luke was in it too.  And he did.  Focused and everything.  Might be better then grandma at it already.

LUKE WAS POSING FOR SAM TOO....LOL...PRICELESS

SHE WAS ON HER WAY TO WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY AND LUKE HAD A FEELING HE WAS ABOUT TO GET LEFT BEHIND..."PICK ME UP MAMA!"

SAM SAID, "AND NOW ONE OF THE NEW BABY MAMA"  INCREDIBLE!  SHE IS CARRYING THIS BABY SO MUCH HIGHER THEN THE BOYS.   SHE'S 24 WEEKS.
Soo that's about it.  I have SOO much more on my table I am wanting to make I will have to keep my nose to the grindstone.  But trust me, it's not hard to do.  lol.  I DO take a break on the week-end so I can focus on my hubby and just relax, but my head never stops whirling with all my ideas.  How grateful I am for my machine.  How grateful I am for the time the Lord has blessed me with to do such a thing.  How grateful I am for soo many sweet grandbabies that truly my cup runneth over.  I sure hope you are all enjoying these winter days (we hit 78 today...it was GORGEOUS!) and get to spend at least some of your time doing what you enjoy best too.  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

  2. Never fret about writing about your life and what you do. How would your readers know they were with you if you didn't? I have actually had that happen where I became confused about where I was because the blogs and writing are so similar. All of the outfits are so darling...love the shoes, too. I can't get over that picture Sam took! He's quite the junior photographer. How fun for you to see his perspective on life.

  5. I enjoy seeing what you've been busy making! Never boring to me! You're a better woman than I am as I'm too easily persuaded (by my machine or my needle and thread) to forego much of the housework. Thankfully my DH is such a sweetie and picks up some of the slack for me. He's definitely a keeper. Those little leggings and shoes are over the top adorable!!! So very sweet! Well done, my friend. Enjoy your weekend!
