THE "SPRINKLE"

Well it's pretty late Monday afternoon and I've soo much to share that I decided I would have to split up the posts.  I had to go and get a crown put on this morning, so I am a little behind what I would have liked.  I had yet another tooth break.  Not sure what's up with that, but I am a little tired of it I am not going to lie, lol.  Sooo my mouth is a little sore right now but guess that doesn't keep me from "talking" here, lol.  So let's see....Melody got in right on time on Friday, and we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening talking and talking and talking, lol.  Never seem to run out of things to say.  We spent quite a bit of time online looking at quilt patterns and fabrics and trying to determine what she wants for not only the baby's room, but also for Luke's new "big boy" bed.  She wants really simple things so honestly it is not going to take me long to get them together.  Sat. morning we did a lot more of the same.  Melody ran out for a while to get a mani/pedi done, and then we enjoyed a nice lunch before heading out for the afternoon "sprinkle" at Jessie's house in Aliso Veijo.  It was an absolutely GORGEOUS day.  Honestly, the weather just couldn't have been nicer.  Jessie had pretty much taken care of everything for me for this event and I felt kind of guilty.  But (first of all she offered, lol) she has SUCH a gift for this, it seems crazy not to just let her do it.  Seriously she is one of the most creative people I know, and the little touches she puts on things just make them beyond special.  Now I have to say I did NOT bring my good camera.  Not sure what I was thinking.  So I only have crummy little i-phone pics.  And not only that, I didn't take many.  Again, not sure what I was thinking.  I think I was just caught up in the moment you know?  The whole idea of this sprinkle shower was to just celebrate the fact that God is blessing her with a little girl.  We just wanted to get the women in the family together (from both sides) to have fun with "girly" things, and to pray over her that all might go well.  We had it in Jessie's backyard and everything was just beautiful.  She had sooo many tasty little snacks and desserts that I honestly couldn't even tell you them all.  Let's just say we were all in for an unbelievable treat.  Then, I had asked my daughter in law Larissa to do a little devotional on Mother's and daughter's.  She wasn't exactly pleased to be on this, but on the other hand she is one of the most accommodating people I know. She may not be totally comfortable doing things like this, but honestly she has quite the gift for it.  God is using her in a mighty way.  She was just SOOO good!  She had us laughing, tearing up, and nodding along through the whole thing.  She prayed then for Melody and the baby and then Melody began opening gifts.  All I can say is you just honestly wouldn't believe all the sweet, darling little things she got.  We all were in awe of it all and enjoying looking at it as much as she did.  We spent the another couple of hours just visiting and having a good time before Melody and I loaded up all the new treasures and headed back home.  She left shortly after she got here to have dinner with one of her closest friends, and I kind of went through things trying to organize them into piles and wondering how much of it she was going to be able to take home with her in a suitcase, and what might have to be taken back by hubby and I when we go out when the baby is born.  I went to bed pretty early then as not only was I beat, but I knew the next day would be a VERY VERY busy one. Let me show you the pics I did get,

AND TO THIS ONE!

AND HERE IS THE GORGEOUS ROSE BUD ONE  I LOVE HOW IT CAME OUT!

SOOO PRETTY

DIANE ALSO CROCHETED THIS BLANKET FOR HER.  SHE HAS MADE ONE FOR EVERYONE OF HER BABIES, AND THE BOYS ARE VERY, VERY ATTACHED TO THEIRS, LOL

BAD COLOR IN THIS PICTURE BUT YOU CAN KIND OF SEE THE GRADUATED COLORS OF MINT IN THIS BLANKET.  IT IS GORGEOUS!

THIS ONE WAS MADE BY ONE OF MIKE'S AUNTS...SOO PRETTY
AND THIS WAS MELODY'S FAVORITE GIFT!  SHE HAD ASKED DIANE IF SHE MIGHT BE ABLE TO CROCHET HER A LOVIE FOR THE BABY, AND SUGGESTED MAYBE SHE COULD MAKE IT A GREY CAT SINCE FOR YEARS AND YEARS SHE WAS DIANE'S "LITTLE GREY KITTY".  SHE HAD NO IDEA OF COURSE ALL THE OTHER THINGS DIANE WAS GOING TO MAKE FOR HER OR SHE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE NEVER ASKED HER.  BUT I KNOW SHE WILL TREASURE IT.  IT'S SOO SOFT TOO.

AND THIS IS MOST OF THE BOUNTY, THOUGH NOT ALL OF IT, LOL

So that was Saturday.  Hopefully somewhere in the next day or two I will get all the pictures sorted out from the anniversary party/vow renewal party.  I will tell you in advance however that my wonderous DIL Larissa took pictures for me on my GOOD camera, and she got some absolutely awesome shots. I was soo pleased.  And that everything went SOOO well.  Today I am feeling kind of down.  I am sure because my Melly has headed home (took off at 6:30 this morning!) and I am already missing her.  It takes me a day or so to adjust so I know I will be fine soon.  It was REALLY nice having her all to myself for 3 days!  It was like the old days.  Her boy's missed her though I know, and her hubby most of all, lol.   I think he has a new appreciation of life with two little ones and how busy Melody's days are.  I will leave you with one picture that was taken on Sun of my kids. I LOVED it!  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

  2. Great photo of your children. I'm so glad you had such a nice time with your daughter. My mom used to enjoy it too when it's was just the two of us visiting...didn't happen very often, especially after we had children. Your daughter looks wonderful and what a blessing to have all these talented friends and family to make things for this little one. It won't be long!! Can't wait to see your renewal photos (I can sympathize with your tooth problems...it seems to be a never ending story for me as well...not fun)

  4. Your mother's heart has got to love the pic of "the kids" all together! Looks like an absolutely marvelous day for all. What a blessing to have so many lovely things for the new baby and to have had the time to spend together. One must always remember to plan something good to look forward to after big moments like these. It helps a bit with the blues. Keep looking up!

  6. Wow, Melody made out like a bandit, didn't she? I assume that you all are going to be taking a bunch of that with you when you go out when the baby comes? What joy you must have felt, seeing all 4 of your kids together.

  12. What a lovely, well planned shower! The gifts are beautifully done and I can't imagine how much fun she will have wearing them on her little one. The picture of your daughter in law and your sons is one that must just bless your heart in such a special way! I like the clothes line, and know she must have been so proud of you, that you made all those tiny clothes.
Thanks so much for sharing this happy event.

  13. Debbie, I meant to write your "daughter" instead of writing DIL. It is early in the morning here:) Is that a good excuse???
