THIS WEEKS SEWING AND LOOKING FORWARD TO THE PARTIES

Well it's Thursday morning and another week has whipped by and our busy BIG week-end is almost upon us! lol   I have been VERY busy this week, and yet got a little more sewing done then I thought I originally might.  If I were going to dress the baby everyday I know what I would pick, lol.  It would be the little bloomer shorts with a matching embroidered onesie, with a matching hair bow and possibly little matching shoes. (notice the word "matching").  Melody, while she definitely likes this ensemble idea, thinks she is going to prefer the rompers with possibly a matching hair bows, lol, and doesn't know that "matchy matchy" is what always rocks her boat, haha.  She LOVE LOVE LOVES the bloomer shorts, but thinks she will probably just put little shirts and T's and blouses with them. To me, the onesies are soo much easier, lol.  But to each their own and thank goodness we are all different.  But one thing we both know is that we LOVE LOVE the new big hair bows and hair bands and head wraps that you see just everywhere on little girls right now. They are just soo sweet, vintage, and darling.  Anyway, looking through the shops to see what's popular (Yes, Melody has got me hooked on Instagram and Etsy businesses) we both noticed that these gals were making some of these bows and head wraps out of knit fabric of course, but a lot of them were being made out of cotton! (I was secretly horribly impressed that Melody now knows the differences in fabric looking at these things on her phone, lol) I honestly couldn't imagine how they were doing that as cotton of course doesn't stretch, and how would they fit around the babies head I just couldn't be sure.  I actually emailed a couple of these gals asking for patterns they used and information on how they were doing it.  A big NO NO I soon found out, lol.  I guess they were afraid I'd try to go into business and compete for sales and they were not open to sharing patterns, information or ideas.  Not one to give up (I have mentioned my stubborness right?) I continued to scour around online and look closely at some of these wraps and realized that a piece of elastic was being added to the backs of these head wraps.  Brilliant!  Sooo then I just started typing in exactly what I was looking for and eventually a pattern came up that looked like it would be just perfect!  I was giddy and quickly downloaded it and printed it out.  I have soo much fabric laying around in my stash pile it is really quite ridiculous.  But it definitely is what it is so I have MUCH to chose from.  I only need a 1/2 yard (if that!) to make a pair of the bloomers, and a matching hair bow so I decided to whip up a few trying out my new pattern.  It was super simple.  Kind of fiddly in that you do have to turn the thin piece of fabric inside out and there is just no quick or easy way to do it as you have to leave two openings in order to put your elastic in, but they were easy nonetheless.  I LOVE them.  I still had one newborn size onesie left so I decided to applique on the front of that and make a matching bloomer and a matching hair bow for my first try.  I think it is just DARLING!  lol.  Now Melody definitely liked it don't get me wrong, and I am sure she will wear it, but it might have been a little too cutesy for her taste.  She didn't say that....but after 28 years I just know her inside and backwards, lol.  Let me show you....

I LOVE THE BOLD SPRING COLORS AND THE LITTLE SIS DESIGN...SOO CUTE!  THESE LOOK BIGGER THEN THEY REALLY ARE IN THESE PICTURES.  THEY ARE TINY AND DARLING!
CLOSER LOOK.  NOTICE THE ELASTIC AT THE BACK OF THE BOW.  THESE LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE ONES THE GALS WERE SELLING.  FUNNY, I THINK IF SOMEONE E-MAILED ME WANTING TO KNOW WHAT THE PATTERN WAS I'D TELL THEM AS OBVIOUSLY IT'S OUT THERE AND YOU CAN EVENTUALLY FIND IT ANYWAY.  THERE ARE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE AND SEEMS TO ME PLENTY OF BUSINESS TO GO AROUND, BUT ON THE OTHER HAND I GUESS I DO GET IT.  ONE OF THE REASONS I NEVER WANT TO GET INVOLVED IN ONE OF THESE KIND OF BUSINESSES.  WAY WAY WAY TOO MUCH COMPETITION.

Didn't have anymore onesies (and since it's not Mel's first choice anyway) I just made a couple more bloomers up with matching bows and she can find whatever top she might like.  Let me show you those...

LOVED THIS FABRIC!

AND MEL LOVED THIS!  LOL  I DEFINITELY LIKE IT (I BOUGHT YEARS AGO) BUT IT WAS MY LEAST FAVORITE OF THEM ALL.  ISN'T IT FUNNY HOW DIFFERENT WE ALL ARE?
Then I was finally ready to start on some bibs.  I made up 3 of them with coordinating fabrics and put batting in the middle to add absorbency and white terry cloth on the backs.  I have made these numerous times in the past, but I decided this time to quilt the front of the bib to the batting with a pretty decorative stitch and added a little label as well.  It made these take a little more time then usual to put together, but I think she'll be worth it, lol.  Soo cute.  I will probably make more of both the hair bows and bibs but meanwhile I am out of time.  As it turns out Melody's flight arrives on FRIDAY, NOT SATURDAY as we thought, and it has created a problem or two for her I am not going to lie.  Now she will be leaving those babies behind for 3 and half days and she is counting every minute.  She is a little apprehensive on it and honestly I would appreciate any prayers you might have that all goes well while she is gone.  Daddy is more then capable of handling things of course, but he does have to work and bring the boys along with him sometimes as well.  They BOTH love going to work with daddy, but Luke especially is really much more of a hindrance, lol.  I tired to talk her into bringing Luke along, but I don't think she is going to.  Flying all that way with a 20 month old baby and 6 and half months pregnant by yourself is not easy apparently.  Soo we will see. I don't know what I am looking most forward to.  3 whole days of my girl....the sprinkle shower...the vow renewal and anniversary party...it's all pretty exciting.  Hope you all have a good week-end.  I will no doubt have plenty of blog material next week!  Blessings to you all, Debbie

Oh, here are a look at the bibs....
