THE FINISHED QUILT AND A FUN UNEXPECTED ADVENTURE AND FIND!

Well it's late Thursday afternoon and I decided to take a few minutes and put up a quick post.  I have officially finished the quilt!  Let me just say this....I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way she quilted it!  It came out way better then I was hoping for to tell you the truth.  She found a super soft Minky that's in a soft off white (without the little dots that Minky often has) and I just loved it.  One thing for sure I know is that pictures NEVER do a quilt justice.  Or at least my pictures don't, lol.  Let me show you...

THE COLORS ARE PRETTY GOOD HERE THOUGH NOT EXACT...AND HOPEFULLY YOU CAN SEE THE GORGEOUS QUILTING

TRIED TO GET A LITTLE CLOSER BUT DON'T KNOW IF THIS HELPS

YOU CAN REALLY SEE IT HERE ON THE STUNNING MINKY ON THE BACK

CLOSER LOOK AT THE BINDING AND YOU CAN SEE THE QUILTING SOME HERE ON THE PLAIN FABRIC

BED SKIRT, ONE OF THE SHEETS AND QUILT TOGETHER.

After I left the quilters yesterday I ran by Hobby Lobby again as I wanted to get some fabric to match a couple of onesies I still have to embroider, and I needed some ribbing to make PJ's for my nephew for his birthday.  I had bought a few onesies a couple of months ago as they were on sale for a wonderful price (under 3 dollars!) with the intention of embroidering on them.  I only got a couple of them done before the shower so I still have those to do.  Anyway, I have got a couple of SUPER cute, SUPER easy designs and the onesies should go with a few of the leggings and bloomers I made up. Also, the other day I was on Etsy (yes I am STILL stalking looking through those stores for ideas) and I came across what I thought was just the cutest thing.  You know how babies always wear those little beanies when they are in the hospital to keep their brand new little heads warm?  Well this gal was embellishing those little beanies with bows and jewelry bling for the little girls.  They were just adorable!  But she was asking a whopping 20 bucks for a hat which seemed a little high to me.  Then I remember that I had a little pink beanie hat that was left over from a set I had bought to embroider on when they boys were born.  You got 3 in the set.  A blue, a white, and a pink.  Well I had used the blue and the white but had set the pink aside figuring maybe someday a little girl would come along. After searching for a while I found the pink hat!  So all I needed now was some sort of "bling" to add to a ribbon (which I have tons of!) to make a similar little hat.  Well, I found the cutest tiny little tiara bling you ever saw and I scooped that up to.  Using a coupon it cost me 2 bucks!  And so I made that up today too.  Let me show you.

HOW DARLING IS THIS?  AND NOT BAD FOR TWO BUCKS, ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO 20! LOL
I was in the store well over an hour and finally decided I was starving (yeah right, lol) and my knees were beginning to give out, and so I left. They didn't have any ribbing however so I knew I was going to have to stop at Joannes as well before I got home.  I made a quick stop at Subway (I LOVE their salads!) and then drove on to Joannes. Well here is where the day took a turn I wasn't expecting.  The Joannes by my house is a small one and is in a center where there is a LARGE empty building where there used to be a grocery store.  The parking lot often looks abandoned, as there are only a few other small shops in this little spot.  Well, as I went to make the turn into the parking lot there was a LONG LONG line of cars.  I thought that seemed REALLY weird, but figured maybe there had been a street closed down or something and people were turning around.  But I quickly saw that the parking lot was completely FULL and people were circling around in their cars looking for a space.  It looked like the mall on the last Sat. before Christmas or something.  I just couldn't imagine what was going on.  Well, I soon discovered that the abandoned giant store had a big sign up and they were have an arts and crafts fair inside!  Upon further scrutiny I could see that is appeared to be only women hurrying in and out of the store.  I was giddy to stumble on to such a find!  I circled until I finally found a parking space at the very end of the lot the furthest away from the store I could have gotten. I didn't even consider NOT going in even though I knew my knees would scream their protest, lol. When I hobbled up to the door I asked the gal what was going on and she said they have these "shows" 4 times a year and have been doing it for several years now. They would be there for 4 days.  How on earth I missed it in the past I can't be sure.  Anyway, I grabbed my little basket and headed in.  Christian music was playing throughout the store (bonus number one) and there was sooo much to see and look at I could hardly take it all in. How I wished my sister Diane was with me.  She would have loved it too.  They had everything you can think of.   I am honestly not sure how long I was in there.  Quite a while.  I walked the entire thing a couple of times I know, and honestly my knees were almost broken by the time I was done.  But listen to what I bought.  I had found a booth that had nothing but embellished onesies for babies and I had spent quite a bit of time there going through them all to see if their were new ideas or anything worth copying, lol.  Well most of them were cute, but nothing I couldn't resist and nothing I hadn't already thought of doing when I saw this little lavender one hanging there.  It was just darling.  The fabric was white with tiny lavender butterflys and it had ribbon around the sleeves and circling it like a little skirt.  I picked it up to see how it had been done, and decided it was just too much work for me.  So I decided to glance at the price tag expecting to see anywhere from 20 to 25 dollars based on similar items I have seen on Etsy.  I know you won't believe this!  It was only 3.50!!!  I honestly couldn't believe it.  You can't usually even buy a plain onesies for that!  So needless to say I whipped it up.  It was practically free, lol.  Then!  I found another booth with nothing but crocheted items.  Just precious little things.  Melody absolutely loved crocheted items I knew so I began to look around to see if they had anything I couldn't resist. Well, there was one little dress that was just adorable.  She wants to hang a little dress on a little hook thing that will go on the wall in the nursery and this would be just perfect on it.  It came on a little padded hanger too.  I expected it to be between 30 and 40 dollars to tell you the truth.  It was 12.50! Again, seemed too good to be true and I whipped it up too.  At that point I could have bought all kinds of darling little Easter decs etc., but decided to restrain myself and finally headed out of the store.  I still had to walk down the stores to Joannes, find my ribbing, get it cut, buy it, and then walk ALL THE WAY BACK to my car.  Probably doesn't seem like that big of deal to most of you, but for me it was A LOT of walking.  I had been on these hobbled knees for hours.  Let me tell you by the time I got back to the car I was limping and dragging but I made it!  Let me show you my finds...

HOW PRECIOUS IS THIS?
SOO CUTE!
And then, the other thing I have been working on is a little outfit for my niece Jessie's baby Weston, which is a little pair of leggings, and a little shirt with a pocket that matches the leggings.  Let me show you...

THIS FABRIC AND STYLE IS VERY POPULAR RIGHT NOW.  NOT EXACTLY WHAT I WOULD PICK, BUT I KNOW SHE WILL LIKE IT!

Well, I guess that's it for now.  The weather is heating back up and we are going to be back into the 80's for the next several days.  A little too warm for my taste, but I promise I won't complain.  I know many of you are still battling lots of snow!  Hope you all have a GOOD week-end, full of many blessings!  Debbie

  3. I just love that quilt! Wonderful backing! I didn't know that they made Minkee without the dots. Debbie, how do you get your binding so perfectly lined up? I have to admit that I steer clear of fabrics with such a clearly defined pattern - one that would scream I'm not squared up if I didn't get it cut exactly right. That little beanie and those craft fair purchases are so sweet. You hit the jack pot that day for sure!

  9. I just have to say Debbie, I love reading your posts. All your adventures just sound so fun. I love those sweet little outfits. I'm hoping some day to have some grandkids to make things for. I don't want my girls to rush into being parents, but I know when they decide too, I'm going to have a ball!
