SOME SEWING PROJECTS, AND THE PROFESSIONAL NEWBORN PICTURES!!

Well this week has whipped by much like most of the last few.  I have kept myself busy, but at the same time I am trying to take it easy.  The shingles remains the same....occasional tingles, occasional slight pain, occasionally somewhat punk....But ALL only occasionally, and very, very workable.  I just want it off of me completely of course, but I have been told it might take a while and this is as good as it might get in the meantime.  Which I am totally fine with, as long as it doesn't relapse or get worse.

I know you all know I keep myself busy mainly at the sewing machine.  It is definitely my "happy" place, and where I go to relax etc.  But I kind of get in moods.  I might be in the mood to quilt.  Or I might be in the mood to embroider on my embroidery machine, or I may be in the mood for garment sewing, lol.  So unless I have something I am really needing to do, I just GO WITH THE MOOD of the moment.  This week (and last I guess) it has definitely been garment sewing; mainly baby clothes. Most of the little things I have been making for Claire call for very little fabric.  1/2 yard or even less. And I have SOO much in my "stash" I could sew from there for quite a while.  All of you seamstresses and quilters know what I am talking about.  So I have mainly just stuck to what I already have on hand which keeps me from feeling guilty about sewing so much for her, and has the added bonus of using up some of my stash.  I think in my last post I showed you the little lavender ruffled skirt with attached bloomers.  I made an white eyelet top to go with it.  Now this fabric I did buy, but a while ago.  I just couldn't resist it at the time, and knew I'd use it for something eventually. This top will be perfect not only for summer weather, but because it will go with everything.  And then, I still had some of it left over so I decided to make a little white eyelet bonnet as well.  And while it did come out cute (NEVER could resist a bonnet for a baby girl!) I hope it fits as I doubt I will make another one of these.  At least not off of that pattern, lol.  It was way too fiddly...and you know me and fiddly.  And then I liked that little ensemble so much, and it was sooo fast and easy, I made up another one out of coordinating fabric of blues and greens.  I made this one a matching hair bow as well.  Let me show you these things...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE EYELET TO BEGIN WITH, AND THIS IS JUST ADORABLE.  THIS LITTLE TOP IS SOO EASY TO MAKE, AND I LOVE THE RIBBON TIES AT THE SHOULDERS.

HERE IT IS WITH THE LITTLE SKIRT.  THESE MOST RECENT LITTLE THINGS I HAVE MADE IN SIZE 0-3 MONTHS, WHILE MOST OF THE OTHER STUFF WAS NEWBORN.  CLAIRE IS STILL FITTING INTO ALL OF THOSE OF COURSE, (WHEN YOU START AT ONLY 6 POUNDS NEWBORN LASTS A WHILE) BUT THIS SHOULD MAKE IT WELL INTO SUMMER.  PATTERNS RUN MUCH BIGGER OF COURSE TOO THEN STORE BOUGHT CLOTHES.

AND HERE'S THE BONNET.  I REALLY HOPE THIS FITS HER.  APPARENTLY I NEVER DID GET A SHOT OF IT FROM THE FRONT, BUT YOU GET THE IDEA.  THE RIBBON TIES TIE UNDER THE CHIN IN A BIG BOW

IT WILL LOOK REALLY CUTE WITH ANYTHING THE LITTLE WHITE TOP IS PUT WITH, OR EVEN WITH ANYTHING REALLY I GUESS

AND HERE'S THE SAME THING IN THE BLUES AND GREENS.  LOVE THESE COLORS TOO.

WHEN I FIRST STARTED MAKING HAIR BOWS I BOUGHT THE LITTLE BANDS IN PACKAGES OR ROLLS.  VERY INEXPENSIVE.  SOME OF THE LITTLE BANDS WERE AS LITTLE AS 29 CENTS.  SO NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAVE A TUN OF IT.  MOST OF THE RIBBONS I HAVE MADE MYSELF WHICH I BUY WHEN HOBBY LOBBY OR JOANNES HAS RIBBON (OR EMBELLISHMENTS) ON SALE MAKING THESE SUPER, SUPER INEXPENSIVE TO MAKE.  (SOME LIKE 30 OR 40 CENTS!)   CONSIDERING MOST HAIR BANDS ON ETSY COST AT LEAST 10 DOLLARS OR EVEN WAY MORE, I CAN'T BEAR TO THINK OF MELODY PAYING THAT FOR THEM.  PLUS AGAIN, I LOVE LOVE PLAYING WITH THIS AND MAKING THEM.  SHE MADE THE MISTAKE OF MENTIONING SHE COULD USE SOME GREY, MINT, AND SMALL WHITE ONES.  HERE'S WHAT I MADE YESTERDAY,

AND HERE'S SOME BIGGER BOWS.  I WON'T TELL YOU HOW LONG IT TOOK ME TO GET THAT GREY ONE ON THE BOTTOM LOOKING RIGHT, LOL.  BUT I WAS FINALLY HAPPY WITH IT.
And then.....Melody got back her professional newborn pictures.  Actually she just got the link to look at them online.  I have copied them from there so they still have the logo on them, (which the photographer was fine with btw) but you can see them just fine.  She is having a few printed for me and I am sooo excited.  They just came out soo cute!  I have to tell you just a little story about this....Melody was hoping Mike would get in from the farm early enough to take a quick shower and join them for the pictures....that didn't happen, lol.  He did get there in time to help somewhat, but he is not in any of them.  And then of course you can imagine trying to get a newborn, a 23 month old and a 3 year old to cooperate for pictures...I don't have to really say much about that, lol  But then when you add in trying to make yourself look attractive enough to be in them as well, it became almost impossible.  Melody said she was in a full sweat, though trust me you can't tell.  Sam though was REALLY  REALLY good I  guess which made up for the fact that Luke was kind of a mess.  How on earth the photographer managed to get the ONLY shot with all 3 of them in it remains a miracle, as it was just a moment he did on his own, totally unplanned or un-posed.  Let me show you....

ISN'T THIS SWEET?  I GUESS MIKE WAS SOMEHOW HOLDING THIS THING..LOOK AT HER FOOT!  LOL

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS OF MY GIRL AND HERS...

AND THIS JUST CAPTURES SWEET LITTLE SAM

AND MY PRECIOUS NAUGHTY LUKE...LOOK AT THOSE EYES!  BE STILL MY HEART
SAM COULD HARDLY BELIEVE HIS GOOD FORTUNE ON GETTING TO HOLD CLAIRE LIKE THIS.  HE WAS GIDDY...YOU CAN SEE IT ALL OVER HIS FACE...

AND HERE'S THE ONE WITH THE 3 OF THEM.  LUKE RAN INTO THE ROOM, KNELT DOWN AND KISSED HER AND 2 SECONDS LATER FLEW BACK OUT OF THE ROOM.  WHAT A GREAT PROFESSIONAL THEY HAD, LOL.

There were several others, but these are the only ones with just the logo on them so you can see.  You get the idea anyway.  Soo precious.

It is pouring rain here right now and I am LOVING it!  We are supposed to get rain today, tonight, and all day tomorrow.  YAY!!  I wish it would be doing something for our horrible drought, but I doubt it will.  Hope you are all having a good week.  Looking more and more like we might be heading out to New Mexico/Texas at the end of next week.  We will see.  Blessings to you all!  Debbie

The little outfits are cute as cute can be. Bonnets are so good to keep the bright sun out of Claire's eyes. You did a great job with fiddly.

  4. Debbie, You amaze me girl with all your sewing; I may quilt, but don't sew and wish I had 1/10 of your talent. Love each outfit and hair pretty. Oh those photos of Claire; especially love the one with Mel and Claire and also the great ones of her big brothers.
I wish your shingles were gone already-truly I know how icky they can be, even when most of the pain is gone.

  11. I have a weakness for eyelet, especially for baby girls!! I know Claire will look pretty in her eyelet bonnet and top.
The professional photos are gorgeous. It sounds like the photographer was accommodating as well as talented. Years ago, my sister and I took our young children for a professional photo. The oldest was my six-year-old daughter; the youngest was my newborn nephew. The photographer was not only less than helpful, she actually scolded us for trying to get a photo with a newborn. Good grief. So I am happy that your daughter's experience was a good one because she'll always be happy that she has these moments captured!
