WEEK-END WRAP UP AND OTHER THOUGHTS

It's early afternoon on Monday June first, and I don't have a lot to report but decided I would go ahead and get a post up.  We had a nice, fairly relaxing week-end.  Sat. morning hubby washed our car which after our long drive was in desperate need, and after that we headed out to drop off a couple of quilts.  The first one was the one I had made for the friend of my daughters who is due in July.  She was soo thankful and just loved the quilt and I was really glad she did of course.  It is really hard when you don't really know someone's tastes or likes to make them what they might like, but she seemed genuinely pleased so I am going to go with that, lol.  Then the other one was to Melody's husbands grandma whose daughter had made one for Claire and wanted to add a label to it.  She had given it to her at her shower, but she did want to add this now so I agreed to bring it to her.  We visited for a while with her and then went out for a long leisurely lunch at our favorite Sushi place, After that we decided to go to the movies and saw Aloha staring Bradley Cooper and Rachel McAdams both of whom I really enjoy.  The movie was ok, lol.  Definitely entertaining, but nothing award winning.  Then we did our grocery shopping and spent the rest of the evening watching TV.  On Sun we headed down to San Diego for church and James had a little surprise for us in that we were to be included in a birthday celebration of one of the members of the church whose birthday it was and had decided to rent out a movie theater for a movie that would include popcorn and candy as well.  They were all going to....that is besides Vinny who was home with a baby sitter napping...Had I known this of course we would have skipped our movie on Sat., but on the other hand we ALWAYS enjoy an afternoon movie.  We saw Tomorrow land.  It was an entertaining movie, very different and I did enjoy it!  Especially considering Science fiction is not my usual first pick, lol.  And hey for completely free it just can't be beat.  We got home a little later then usual, but still enjoyed a relaxing evening.

I did want to share a couple of other things with you.  First our little Sam has suffered somewhat with eczema since he was a baby.  Melody has done all kinds of things about it to include special creams, soaps, etc.  But recently he has just been itchy.  No real eczema rash at all right now but just itchy.  So she decided to take him back to the docs again and they decided to test him for allergies to see if they can't get to the bottom of the problem.  She got the results this morning and they said he has several allergies and so they are going in tomorrow to discuss the next step and treatment plans.  I am praying for wisdom for the docs and relief and comfort for Sam.  It seems a little weird to me as allergies USUALLY include itchy, watery eyes and a running nose with sneezing.  Sam has NONE of these symptoms.  We will see.  I just have to show you this pic of little Sam getting his blood drawn for the testing. Broke Grandma's heart,  Look at his little face...But you should have heard him telling me the story this morning on the phone.  He said, "Grandma they put big needles in my arm but I only cried a little.  I was tough and brave.  And then I got ice cream!"  lol

THANK GOODNESS HIS DADDY COULD COME HELP OUT WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR THE BLOOD TO BE DRAWN.  I GUESS CLAIRE PICKED THAT MOMENT TO FUSS FOR HER LUNCH AND LUKE WAS BUSY DUMPING CRACKERS ON THE GROUND, LOL   HAVE I MENTIONED HER HANDS ARE FULL?

And then my grand daughter Lindsey is graduating next week from junior high.  She will of course be starting high school in the fall.  My oldest son and his wife have been praying for a while about where to send her for high school as none of them really want her at the local public high school.  Lindsey's hearts desire is to go to the Christian high school where Melody and two of my sons went as well. But to say it is expensive would be putting it mildly.  Melody only graduated from there 10 years ago, and I thought it was high then.  But today's tuition would have put it out of our reach.  Anyway, there is a VERY GOOD chance that she is to get into the school on a scholarship.  She has maintained a perfect 4.0 all through junior high and has been involved in student council and a mentor for special ed students,  She is also a star athlete,  Sooo she is looking pretty good.  They have a meeting today to find out what is happening.  I have her covered in prayer as well.  It's hard sometimes because I think OF COURSE God wants her in that school, but the bottom line is we don't know and we have to trust Him. I just tell myself as much as I love her and want what's best for her, He wants it more.  So if this is where she is meant to be, then the details will be worked out.  Lindsey plays on a club volleyball team which she just loves.  They just finished their season 3rd overall.  Oh, and her club coach is the varsity coach at the Christian high school, and will put in good word for her! Coincidence?  Maybe, but I think not.

14 YEAR OLD LINDSEY

BETWEEN CLAIRE'S BROTHERS AND COUSINS, SHE HAS LOTS OF ADMIRERS AND PROTECTORS, LOL

  1. It sounds like you had a nice weekend...not too busy, not too slow.

Isn't it a comfort to know that we can take all of our concerns about our grandchildren (children too!) and to a gracious and loving Heavenly Father, knowing that He (as you said) loves them more than we do?!

  2. Praying that Lindsay will be able to attend the school you are all believing for. Much better than a public high school. Little Claire looks as if she is plumping up nicely. =D She's looking more like a baby than a newborn. Sam really is brave! Hope that they get the answers they need and that he outgrows these allergies soon.

  3. Awww, that picture of Sam getting ready to get his blood drawn is heartbreaking, isn't it. What a comfort it is to know that whatever God has in store for our grands is far better than anything we could ever hope or dream for.

  5. As I sit here reading the words of your heart that you so beautifully share, I find it so interesting! As grandmas we often have the unsettling thoughts in our hearts over all that our children and grandchildren face. Isn't it a real privilege that we can pray for each of them? I so enjoyed seeing your pictures again, and especially liked the ones of your Lindsay and the one of your little guys with their tiny sister. So sweet!

  7. Debbie, Poor Sam! My 6 yr old granddaughter just had to get scratch allergy tests-she was in misery for several days. The Dr. decided the allergies are causing her asthma, so she will be taking childrens Alavert medicine. I'm hoping it helps.
Your Lindsay is beautiful! Praying the door opens for the right highschool.
I do believe our hair styles are the same, but mine shorter. What's funny is that people think I got a new style, it's just my gal styles it so much better than I do. She made my color a little lighter this time, not as much brown. I only get it colored about every six mos. because it costs $155. and that is just too much for me to do it more often. Thanks for your sweet comment! Have a wonderful weekend. Love Claire's pics-so precious.

  9. Hubby and I haven't been to a movie in months and months. Guess we need to change that. :o)) Poor little Sam, hope his allergies are going to be easy enough to control. And, sure hope Lindsay gets the scholorship. Our granddaughter goes to a Christian school, the same one our children went to, and it is sooo expensive. Claire is growing so fast and looks like those big brothers are very protective of her. How sweet!!!
