WRAP UP OF THE BEACH GEAR, AND SOME PRETTY CUTE PICS

Well it is kind of late in the afternoon on Friday and I want to get up a quick post....this computer is putting a BIG damper on my blogging....sigh, so I'd better make this quick.  I don't have a lot to share anyway.  Soo much of my life seems to be the same I guess.  I get up, I shower and dress and do my devotional while sipping tea, then after eating my breakfast I straighten my house doing a small extra chore or two and then I sew.  Then I clean the sewing mess up and get something together for dinner, eat, watch TV, visit with hubby and go to bed.  Pretty ordinary....lol.  Sometimes I change it up and go to a fabric store somewhere or meet a friend for lunch, but that's about as wild as I get.  In between these daily activities I do laundry occasionally, talk a lot on the phone, maybe read or nap, or water my various porch plants.  Oh and of course visit my blogging friends, and browse some on Facebook and Instagram.  As I read this back it sounds soo totally boring I can hardly believe it, or worse yet like I need to find something more worthwhile or constructive to do.  And yet I soo enjoy this season in my life I can't imagine anything a lot better.  I do wish I lived closer to some of my grandkids so I could work them more into my Mon - Friday life, but then again on the other hand at least I get to see them on the week-ends quite a bit.  Well the California ones anyway.  There was a time in my life for MANY years it seems that I was SOOO busy I honestly didn't know if I was coming or going.  Just soo much going on.  And now it is quite and slow and I guess that's the way it is.  How I got off onto this tangent I don't know, as I wanted to be quick, lol.  I guess I feel like I need to apologize to those of you who read me, as judging by my lack of comments recently, I've really not much to say, lol. My blog has become just about what I sewed today, lol.  I am waiting for the day to come when it no longer holds my interest, but honestly my "to do" pile and my "want to make" list just keeps getting bigger and bigger.  Soo having droned on about this for too long now, I will tell you what I finished up this week.  I had to be pretty diligent or I wouldn't have gotten it done, and I need to give it to them this Sunday as they are leaving for their vacation on the following Thursday.  Let's see where did I leave off?  I guess I was to making Capri's beach tote.  I wanted to make her's bigger as she is 10 to Donatella's six, but something happened that made it not come out as I had thought.  It IS taller then Tella's, but NOT wider as I had wanted.  I told you my math is just not very good apparently, lol.  Anyway, it took me a LONG LONG LONG time to embroider the flips flops I put on hers as my machine gave me problem after problem, and it was a long, dense design as well.  But I pressed on....stubborn remember? and got it done.  I personally really like Capri's, and hope she is equally enthusiastic.  Let me show you....

I DO WISH THIS WAS A LITTLE WIDER...BUT I LOVE THE COLORS AND HER NAME

AND ON THE FLIP SIDE IS THE FAMOUS FLIP FLOP DESIGN.  IT WAS A REALLY CUTE DESIGN IS THE BIGGEST REASON I PRESSED ON IN SPITE OF ALL THE HEADACHES IT GAVE ME

LITTLE CLOSER...I WAS HOPING YOU COULD SEE THE DECORATIVE STITCH I USED ON THE HANDLES, BUT I WOULD HAVE NEEDED MY GOOD CAMERA FOR THAT SO LETS NOT GET CARRIED AWAY

THE LINING

ADDED A LITTLE BIT OF "BLING" TO HER ZIPPERED POUCH

SO HERE'S HER SET....
Then I made Tella's hat.  I changed it up a bit in that I used a fabric for the hat itself, and the top, and a different one for the brim.  I also went with some flowers instead of the bow.  It is VERY Donatella if you knew her.  She is sassy and full of life and loves flash and fun and this hat definitely is. Personally a little TOO much for me, but I know she will love it.  Let me show you....

HERE IT IS!  THEY WILL SEE HER COMING THAT'S FOR SURE, LOL

AND HERE'S HER SET....I MIGHT STILL ADD SOME "BLING'" TO HER ZIPPER POUCH.  I KNOW I CAN GET SOME GLUED ON RHINESTONES FOR IT AND SHE WOULD PROBABLY BE IN HEAVEN, BUT IT DEPENDS ON IF I CAN GET TO THE STORE SOMETIME TOMORROW.  IF NOT IT'S CUTE AS IT IS.

And then I made one for little Vinny.  I decided to applique a whale on the front of his hat as I knew of course bows and flowers were out, lol.  His hat is reversible.  The other side is just the plaid, and it's pretty cute too but I didn't take a pic of it.  I am sure you can imagine it, lol.  Here it is....

I ADDED A LITTLE DIFFERENT FINISHING STITCH TO HIS AS I THOUGHT IT MADE IT LOOK MORE BOYISH....LOL  I HAVE NO IDEA OF THIS WILL FIT HIS HEAD, I SURE HOPE SO

Other then that, Lindsey graduated from the eighth grade this week but there was not enough tickets for me to attend.  I got pictures though and she looked just darling.  Soo proud of her.  We do not know for sure about her getting to go to the high school she would like to, as while she DID get a partial scholarship, there is still quite a bit of money needed.  They are doing all they can to make this happen, but I guess we will just have to see.  If God wants her there, I know He can work out the details better then we ever could.

And then I just have to show you these adorable pics.....sorry my grandmaness is showing, lol....of my San Diego grands....

SASSY SWEET DONTATELLA

AND LITTLE VINNY

CUTE ONES OF THE GIRLS

THE "CLASSY'" KIDS AS SHE CALLS THEM, LOL   OUR LAST NAME IS CLASS

AND TELLA'S  KINDERGARTEN CERTIFICATE.....WHAT A GOOD YEAR SHE HAD....SHE IS MAINLY HOME SCHOOLED, BUT THEY GO TWO DAYS A WEEK TO A CHARTER SCHOOL AS WELL.  SHE IS ALREADY READING CHAPTER BOOKS....
AND CLAIRE ATTENDED HER FIRST "GIRLS" NIGHT AT CHURCH, LOL.  SHE DID REALLY WELL I GUESS

OK, this was much longer then I intended, but I did have to get my favorite photos in so that there are in my books I print.  Hope you all have a GOOD week-end.  We are cleaning house tomorrow, but hope we get to do something relaxing too.  Many blessings to you all!  Debbie

  3. I think all of the beach things turned out incredible. I love every single one. The pictures are so good. Well, I am so glad for this time of life too. I feel like I have been running forever so it is nice to slow down a bit. You still have shingles so I think you need to rest. We do feel a bit guilty don't we? I know I sure do.
I hope your weekend is wonderful.

  4. Oh, it's easy for me to understand why you are enjoying this season of your life. I only had two children to raise and I'm thoroughly enjoying this season of my life. If I had raised 4 I would over the top enjoying this season of my life. Kids are work and you have earned your right to just sit and do nothing if that's what you want to do. :o))

Love the beach hats and bags. Just the cutest!

And, the grans are so cute!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  5. The Classy Kids are so cute! Love how Donatella is always acting as the bridge...so cute! What?! No tickets for a grandmother? I tell you, these venues are just getting too crowded. All the hats and totes came out so cute. Your tenacity is inspiring. I'm still trying to sew the perfect potholder.

I stand in awe of your many gifts and talents in sewing, I hope you never lose that desire to sew, your grandchildren and family will always remember the love, and time you put into their gifts. You keep me motivated!
My comments have dwindled too! I tell myself, I must be pretty boring, but like you it is really an online journal of my life, i know my family will enjoy reading it one day. I think a lot of people are going to Instagram, and facebook.
I am amazed at how Mel has slimed down, you wouldn't believe that she just gave birth , Congratulations to Lindsey, I do pray she gets to go to the high school that she wants too!
    Have a great week!

  10. Debbie, I so enjoyed reading your thoughts today and can so agree with the joys of being in this phase of our lives. I say I am living my dream. After 35 years total in the work force, I was so ready to be at home doing what I wanted with no deadlines and reports due and people to be around. So don't ever feel guilty about having a what others might determine as a "boring" life. It's ours and its exactly what we want it to be. Regarding the comments, I have never had a huge following but I long ago decided that I do this for me and that's good enough. I enjoy sharing with the few of us who stick together.

Now about those beach goodies! I was wishing I could do something similar for my youngest granddaughter who will be going to Hawaii in a few weeks. Since I don't even own a sewing machine anymore, that is out. But you did an amazing job and they will love them. And those adorable grandchildren pictures. The photographer really captured their individual personalities. Precious!

Have a great rest of the week and I'll see you tomorrow in the Hodgepodge.
