WEEK-END WRAP UP AND MORE ORNAMENTS

I am not doing a very good job of keeping up with a Mon. and Thursday post, but I AM doing pretty good with making my Christmas ornaments, lol, but before I tell you more about that, I will briefly tell our week-end.  It was good in every way.  We spent Sat. totally relaxing doing all of our favorite things...lol.  LONG LEISURELY breakfast and chat time [after sleeping in just a bit as well] and then we headed out to lunch and a movie.  After that we got our grocery shopping done and came home and spent the rest of the afternoon [which there wasn't much left of, lol] watching some TV and barbecuing some tasty Salmon.  Sunday found us back down in San Diego for church.  It was SOO good to see everyone and hear my son preach of course, but goodness after several weeks of not making that drive suddenly it seemed REALLY far, lol  After service we went over to my son's house and his wife Larissa had made us a vegetable pasta [glutten free for me!] with veggies from her father's garden and it was just SOO good.  We sat around and visited while little Vinny took his nap and when he woke up around 3 we headed over to Larissa's parents house for his party.  They only live about 5 minutes from them and have a gorgeous pool in their back yard so it works out really well for their family.  The party was pretty much just family, and it was relaxing and nice.  There were a couple of salads for dinner and pizza [again, gluten free for me] and cupcakes which I heard were really good.  The kids and grandkids all swam for a while and hubby joined in as well.  They had such a good time and I enjoyed myself sitting in the shade and watching them.  Vinny was soo cute on the day and we thoroughly enjoyed him  I got some pics but not as many as I hoped to have, but let me share what I got....

GETTING HIM TO STAND STILL AND SMILE AT THE CAMERA HAS NOT EXACTLY BEEN MASTERED YET,LOL, BUT HIS SHIRT FIT HIM WELL!

READY TO SING HAPPY BIRTHDAY.....HE WAS TIRED AFTER ALL THE SWIMMING, LOL

HE ENJOYED THE FROSTING THE BEST!

A NEW BIKE!

HE GOT THIS FROM MOM AND DAD THE DAY BEFORE ON HIS REAL BIRTHDAY....HE RIDES THIS REALLY, REALLY, WELL FOR JUST TURNING TWO.

THE HELMET GRANDMA AND GRANDPA GOT HIM FOR HIS NEW BIKE AND SCOOTER.....END OF THE DAY, HE WAS DONE!  LOL

SWIM TIME

SUCH A PRETTY SPOT!

I have been back at my Christmas ornaments for the last couple of days.  Once I get through all the different designs I will stop posting pics, though I am making all of them a little different here and there.  My latest kind I have done quite a few of.  They are called free standing lace ornaments and I had no idea again that my machine had the capability of doing them.  I LOVE LOVE them.  You just basically stitch up a design on some hooped water soluble stabilizer, and then soak it off in warm water when you are finished and they dry up pretty stiff.  They are soooo pretty.  Looks like lace as there is soo many open areas, but it is just thread.  You can do them in whatever color you chose, but so far I have done them mainly in white, but with some gold, some a Christmas variegated, and one I have used different colors on.  I will probably not do many of those as it is kind of a pain switching the bobbin thread with every color change along with the top thread.  They must both be the same. Ordinarily I use a thin white thread on the bobbin which is WAY less expensive then the top embroidery thread, and way easier to wind and work with on the bobbin.  I had a hard time winding the embroidery thread onto the bobbin  I think because it is so much slicker then regular thread, but I think I like the way the white looks the best anyway, so I will probably just stick to that.  It takes a LOT of thread to do a design, and they take longer then you would ever think for not having to change threads.  Some of them take a good 45 minutes or so.  I put ribbon hangers on a couple of them, but I think I am going to look for a super thin cord like ribbon instead.  I also made up some more of the round ones using some different colored felt for them and bigger ribbons at the hangers on some of them.  I am kind of in love with them all.  I have no idea what my final plan will be on who will get what.....for now I am just making them.  Let me show you.....

VARIEGATED THREAD....HUBBY'S FAVORITE, BUT I AM NOT SURE I LIKE THE LOOK, LOL   EVERYBODY'S DIFFERENT

THIS ONE WITH THE COLOR CHANGES IS VERY PRETTY, BUT LIKE I SAID, KIND OF A PAIN

THIS ONE IS GOLD BUT THE PIC IS BAD AND YOU CAN'T TELL VERY WELL...IT LOOKS LIKE SUCH DELICATE LACE....THE PICS REALLY DO NOT DO THESE DESIGNS JUSTICE TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH.....THEY ARE MUCH PRETTY IN PERSON

HE IS GOLD TOO....MEL'S PERSONAL FAVORITE SO FAR
Well that's about it for now.  Not a lot more on my horizon this week besides more ornaments. I think we are going to have my youngest sons's kids over for a sleep over this week-end, but that's not 100 percent yet.  I am looking forward to it.  Summer has flown by for all my grands and as always it doesn't seem like I spent as much time with them as I would have liked.  I will end this with a few pics of the New Mexico grands.  Hope you are all having a good week!  Blessings to you all...Debbie

Glad to hear you had a nice weekend. The party looks wonderful! I am sure that the birthday boy had a great time...even if he did tucker out by the end of the day.

  7. I so enjoyed catching up with your week of busyness. Those ornaments will make such a gorgeous tree, but I know you plan to share them with all the kiddos. I love that you and Hubby enjoy doing things, such as a movie and shopping together. That's what keeps us grounded, isn't it. And I never tire of seeing those precious grands. Such beautiful, healthy, and happy babies.
