WEEK-END WRAP UP

Good morning to you all!  Hope you all had a nice week-end.  Ours, while VERY warm was a good one, lol.  Didn't do a whole lot out of the ordinary for us so it was relaxing and comfortable.  On Sat. we had a yummy salad at Cheesecake Factory, and then went and the saw the Intern starring Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway.  It was every bit as good and as funny as I thought it might be.  Maybe it is geared to our age group, but we both thoroughly enjoyed it.  I think I told you a while back that there is a new theater near us that has comfortable reclining leather seating, AND has a waitress that will bring either a snack or drink or even a full meal to you should you be interested.  And here is the REALLY good part.  If you get there BEFORE 12 all of the seating is only 4 dollars for seniors!  We do have another theater near us that does seniors ALL day for 3 dollars, but it is only on Wednesday which usually doesn't work for us.  But this has pretty much become OUR theater.  We do not usually eat anything [as that IS kind of pricey] and it is not always easy to get in lunch and be there BEFORE 12, but we work it.  The only part that is soo hard sometimes is that it is SOO comfortable I have to try not to doze, lol.   Sunday we went to church, and then to lunch, and then back home for a little football.  Yes, a very typical Fall week-end.

Today I am hoping to get a good start on putting together the Christmas stockings.  I did get them all cut out and ready to assemble, and honestly it shouldn't take long.  My once a month cleaning woman is coming today and I am glad I got those cut out before she did.  It made SUCH a mess.  I think I told you Melody wants their stockings to be fur.  Well, I bought fake fur [so it can be washed....still think all white fur with 3 little ones has not been thought through well, lol, just saying] and once cut into shed like you honestly wouldn't believe.  The stockings will be fully lined though, so once they are sewn they should be just fine.  But meanwhile that stuff just seemed to have a life of its own.  I tell you it kind of sifted everywhere.  I am anxious to get them together and see for myself how they are going to look.  Once I finish those stockings I intend to get busy on my last Advent Calendar, and then I promised my youngest sister I would make some new Christmas stockings for her.  She is supposed to be getting her fabric she wants them to be out of together soon so I can get that done.  I do think she might think that it is still early and there is plenty of time, but when you have a dozen grand kids and lots already on your sewing list I am already feeling a little behind.  I know [if you follow me regularly] that I have been working on Christmas things since July, but it does take a while.

Other then that I don't have a whole lot to share.  Lindsey [my oldest grand daughter] went to her first homecoming dance last Sat.  I honestly can't believe she is old enough for that already, but she just had the best time.  She went with one of her best friends since KG.  Sometimes I really think those make the best kind of "dates" especially when your young.  She borrowed a dress from an older cousin's high school dresses, and honestly it was just perfect and looked adorable on her.  When you consider that you usually buy a dress for one of those dances and then pretty much NEVER wear it again, it is certainly the way to go.  Melody sold several of hers on one of the last weeks she was a senior to the younger girls and it is a win win for everyone.  Wish we had gotten some of her dresses that way. Lindsey [like Melody] is a tiny girl and wears a size 0.  Not many to chose from in that size in the first place as well. [boy do I ever remember that!]  Lindsey and her mom couldn't find one anywhere.  Guess grandma could have altered one for her, but there wasn't a lot of time, and I don't really like working with the kind of fabric most of those dresses are made out of, so this worked well for everyone.  Let me show you some pics....

HOW PRETTY IS THIS?  SHE LOOKS SOO OLD IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE  I THOUGHT THE DRESS WAS JUST DARLING

HER DATE.....HE'S HER AGE BUT LOOKS A LITTLE OLDER TO THIS GRANDMA....PROBABLY JUST ME, LOL

FUN TIMES

WHEN SHE HEARD I WAS TRYING TO GET A GOOD VOLLEYBALL PIC, SHE TOLD ME, GRANDMA I HAVE ONE!  LOL  PRETTY CUTE.....THOUGH I  STILL WANT AN "ACTION" ONE, LOL

Hope you all have a GOOD week....blessings and joy to you all!  Debbie

  7. I love that dress!!! She looks so cute. I am so tired of the heat now too. Really you have places like that to go to the show? That is amazing. It has been a long time since I sewed with fake fur, but I do remember the mess.
I hope you have a lovely week.

  9. Hi Debbie, sorry I missed your last post, I just haven't been online to much lately, a lot going on here at the farm. Happy belated birthday to Sam, he is really growing so fast.
I was so awed at Lindsey's photo, my she is such a beautiful young lady, I know it is bittersweet for you and her parents to see her grow up, as a grandparent we want them to stay young longer, I so miss all the good times we had with ours especially in the summer!
I think of you so often, like yesterday while mending some slacks, I was thinking of how wonderful it would be to be able to sew like you! You are so gifted! I am so looking forward to seeing the fur stockings, you are making. I also love Christmas in July wink~. My Mom is working on blankets for a nursing home this year, I think she started in july too!
Hope your shingles have gone for good and that this lttle note finds you well,
    love from me to you,
    Sue

  10. I love the dress! She's adorable! My husband and I saw The Intern and really enjoyed it. I think my recently retired husband worried it might be depressing, but he found it inspiring instead. I thought it was so cute. Hope you're doing well!
