MY WEEKLY CATCH UP, AND SOME EXCITING NEWS!

Well here we are to MID October and we are STILL running our air conditioner almost everyday!  It has been such a hot Fall....wish I could say I have enjoyed it but truthfully I have mainly whined myself through most of it.  It is actually only supposed to get up to 75 today and I am sooo perky. My windows are wide open and I am enjoying the cool breezes, fresh air, and the sound of the birds chirping away.  However it is going back to the mid to upper eighties for the rest of the week, but I am not going to think about that right now, lol.

Last week I finished up the pillowcases with the names on it for my sister's family, and also finished up the last stocking as well.  They came out pretty good.  I am amazed that I continue to find more and more ways to improve on the embroidery the more and more that I do.  But I can say this...they are still not 100 percent perfect [maybe "perfect" doesn't exist in the embroidery world?!] but it has gotten quick and good enough to satisfy me "most" of the time, lol.  Here's a quick glance at the finished projects....

THE VELVET STOCKINGS [soo glad to be done with velvet, lol!] AND A CLOSER LOOK AT ONE OF THE CUFFS

THIS IS A TERRIBLE PIC COLOR WISE BUT MY SISTER HAS ALREADY TAKEN THESE HOME SO THERE IS NO RE-DOING THIS PIC.  THEY CAME OUT SUPER CUTE.  TWO OF THEM WERE DONE IN THE METALLIC GOLD, ONE IN THE METALLIC SILVER AND THE THE GRINCH ONE MATCHED THE COLOR OF THE GRINCH, LOL
On Wednesday my sister Donna and her daughter Katie and my niece Tabi all came over for the day both to visit and get a lesson on how to make a fleece tie blanket.  Katie plans on making a few more for Christmas presents.  We had a really nice day together.  The girls and I have decided that we will make a habit of this on Wednesday's for a while.  I am going to do a little bible study with them first, and then we will work on some small sewing project after that.  We are going to start with coasters and aprons.  I am really looking forward to working with the girls in both areas, but I am especially happy that they are both eager to dig into the Word and see what God has for both of them.  I am glad that this will work for them what with their busy schedules of work and school.

KATIE BUSY CUTTING HER STRIPS

FINISHED BLANKET....IT WAS SOO CUTE AND COZY.  PERSONALLY I AM SOO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE DAY WHEN CURLED UP IN ONE OF THESE IS APPEALING, LOL  SURELY IT'S COMING, RIGHT?
Our week-end was nice.  Sat we hit our theater [along with a bajillion other people, lol....seems like everyone has heard about their great prices BEFORE noon too now] and we barely got seats together. It probably had something to do with the fact that it was opening week-end for this particular movie, along with the fact it starred Tom Hanks.  He's really hard to beat in my opinion.  Right up there with Meryl Streep.  Anyway, the name of this movie was Bridge of Spies, and it was about a true story about a lawyer that is recruited to defend a Russian spy.  It was every bit as good as I thought it would be, and if you like Tom Hanks I would highly recommend this.  The rest of the week-end was spent running errands, sewing, watching some football [a lot more of this for hubby then for me but I did watch some!] church, and relaxing.  A perfect Fall week-end in my book.

Hubby is recovering VERY well from his little surgery and may be getting some of the stitches out tomorrow depending on what the doc thinks.  The report came back pretty good.  Pretty much what they were expecting.  Our doc is feeling VERY strongly that nothing else will have to be done to treat this, but is going to send him to an oncologist to let him make the final call.  He says there is no rush however, and wants him to heal and get the stitches out before that happens.  I will be glad to get the oncologists word that this is indeed over with I am not going to lie.  Our colds are almost completely gone as well.  Just a little lingering cough for me.  I sooo rarely get coughs [it's been close to six years believe it or not!] that truthfully I'd forgotten how draining they can be.  But hopefully soon I will be completely over it.  Soo typical that hubby started AFTER me and is over it completely already, but truthfully I am grateful as like I said he is the one who has to work.

I have a lot of sewing planned as usual for the week.  I made a couple of pillowcases for my niece and her boyfriend this week-end, and got some christmas pj's cut out for my new mexico grands. Still got to get on that last advent calendar too.  Sooo much sewing......sooo little time, lol

Oh!  and I can't forget the promised REALLY BIG NEWS!  There is a new Class in our family!  My middle son John and his fiance [now wife!] decided to just run to Vegas and get married this week-end. They have been trying to work out the details of a wedding for a while, but have run into several issues along the way.  Bottom line is this is a second marriage for both of them, and they didn't really want to spend much money on a big wedding anyway.  I think I have mentioned that my son lost his first wife to a sudden and unexpected death almost 3 years ago now, and I am sooo happy he has found such a wonderful girl to share his life with again.  Jessica is nine years younger then John so she ought to keep him on his toes.  They are thinking about starting a family right away, and considering John just turned thirty nine years old I think it's probably about time to be getting on that, lol.  So who knows, maybe there are still MORE grandbabies in our future.  We will get together to celebrate this marriage soon I am sure.  There was a time where I might have been really upset to have missed witnessing this event, but honestly I am just glad they are happy and moving along on their lives.

ALL THE PICS I HAVE RIGHT NOW IS THIS ONE THEY POSTED ON INSTAGRAM....MORE COMING SO I'VE BEEN TOLD
Well guess that's it for now.  I need to get myself to my sewing if I am going to keep on my schedule for this week.  I will leave you with one last pic of my sweet Claire who is ALREADY six months old!  HOW can this be?  She was just born right?  My daughter's wifi by her house has been greatly improved recently so we have been able to do some quality face time with those grandbabies!  What a difference that makes.  Feels much more like a good visit.  I am SOOOOO grateful for that! Blessings and joy to you all!  Debbie

SUCH A HAPPY SWEET BABY.  WATCHING HER ON FACE TIME IT IS OBVIOUS THAT SHE IS ENTHRALLED WITH THOSE OLDER BROTHERS OF HERS.  LAUGHS AND GIGGLES AT ANYTHING THEY DO MUCH TO THEIR DELIGHT!

  1. What a nice weekend. I am sooo tired of running the air conditioner and so ready for it to be fall. Today is nice and I have the windows open too. I love those stockings and how fun to get together on Wednesdays like that. I love that blanket.

  2. Congratulations on a new daughter-in-law! Best wishes to them both!

Claire may be highly amused by her big brothers, but she looks as if she does her fair share of amusing. I know that everyone in the family is smitten with her!

Enjoy your Wednesdays! Sounds like a lot of fun.

  4. Debbie, First off I'm sorry I haven't checked in more lately; I'm hoping and praying that your hubby's skin cancer issue is over with. My brother has had Melanoma and alot of basal cells moles removed. He is fair(yes we are 100% Irish), more fair than I am and he gets checked out every 3-6 mos. I go for a body check this Thursday and hope that all those years of tanning didn't cause any major damage. Love your stockings my friend. Where did you find the instructions for the fleece blankets for the girls to make? I'm trying to come up with presents that my 7 granddaughters can make for their moms-which is hard to find. You asked about what I was making-well I belong to a group called Heritage Makers and I'm making them note cards(that look like Hallmark cards)from our trip to Ireland and also the Islands. It is pricey but I love the quality; wanted to make a calendar for both families but having a hard time getting photos from them. I sure wish we lived closer to one another, I think we'd have fun doing a study as well sewing. Hope that nasty cold leaves completely.
    Love, Noreen

  5. I love it, Bible Study and then sewing, what a great combination! It was 47 here this morning and then in the high 70's later, but felt good this morning. You are definitely clicking those sewing projects out. So happy for your son and wishing you a great new week!

  6. So glad your middle son found love again! Congratulations to them both. It is just now starting to cool down in Phoenix but is still in the low 80's. But that's better than 90's, right? We had lots of rain though. Sounds like your world is busy but ...fun.

  7. You are one amazing gal!!! Loved seeing all your projects and by the time I finished reading your post I was exhausted from all that YOU DO!!! Pretty amazing! Congratulations on your son's wedding!
We are wanting to see that Tom Hanks movie so I appreciate your review!
I admit to NOT having a good memory so I forget where you live from time to time - but it's still warm in Texas and I am SO yearning for chilly weather!! No A/C running but we have the attic fan on and that makes for cool sleeping weather at night. No heavy quilts needed, though!
I so enjoy hearing all about your busy life!!! That's the way to live it!!!

As always, I love your sewing projects. Your family is so blessed to have you making things for them. I really like that blanket too. One of these days, I'm going to try making one. it's so cool that they are going to be doing Bible Study with you and learning to sew. What a rich blessing you are passing down.
