CHRISTMAS SEWING COUNT DOWN.....

Well it's late in the afternoon on Monday the ninth of November, and I am going to do my best to get a quick post up.  I only have two weeks left to get A LOT of my sewing projects done before we leave for New Mexico [soooo excited for that btw!] for Thanksgiving, and I will be honest and say I don't know if I am going to make it.  Especially since I keep adding to my list, lol.  I really have not done a whole lot more then sew so I guess I will just show you what I've got so far.  I am close at least to having the nine pairs of pj's done that I set out to do.  They are all for the most part put together, and the embroidery work is completely done, soooo all I have left is the buttons and button holes for six shirts for the boys, [the girls got nightgowns] and elastic for the pants for 3 of the bottoms.  I did have some trouble finding 4 matching buttons for all six of the pj tops, but I have got some on hold at another Joannes so I just have to pick those up and I will be set.  Then, I STILL have an advent calendar to make, and a couple of skirts for Capri [they are quick easy ones] and a Christmas outfit for Claire [and yes I am using the left over velvet and I can hardly wait] and I need to sort through my ornaments and make sure I have all of those that I need.  Naturally everyone seemed to want the same ones which I might have enough of but I am not really sure.  If all of this is not enough I ended up making a couple of little zippered pouches for birthday presents today for my nieces, and a nightgown for one of them as well.  Whew.....Let me show you what I have....

THE COLOR ON THIS ONE IS WAY OFF BUT NO TIME TO DO PIC OVER.  THE FLANNEL IS KIND OF A RED BURGUNDY, AND THE REINDEER IS THE METALLIC GOLD.  BOY HAVE I EVER PUT THAT THREAD TO USE, LOL.  I LOVE IT.  THE BUTTONS ON THESE WILL BE A GOLD BRASS AND GO REALLY WELL WITH THE REINDEER.  JEFFIE, JD, CODY, SAM, LUKE AND VINNY WILL ALL GET THESE EXACT PJ'S.

HERE'S A BETTER LOOK AT THE REINDEER, AND THE COLOR IS PRETTY TRUE IN THIS PIC TOO

I DON'T HAVE A PIC OF THE WHOLE NIGHT GOWN HERE FOR DONATELLA, BUT YOU GET THE IDEA.  HER'S IS OUT OF THE SAME FLANNEL AS THE BOYS.  CAPRI DOES NOT LIKE FLANNEL.  SO I MADE HER'S OUT OF A SOFT KNIT AND IT'S ALSO GOT SHORT SLEEVES [GUESS SHE DOES NOT LIKE TO BE HOT WHEN SHE SLEEPS....SOUNDS LIKE GRANDMA!] BUT IT IS THE SAME SHADE OF RED AND ALSO HAS A WHITE ANGEL TO THE SIDE OF THE FRONT

AND HERE ARE CLAIRE'S....SHE IS TOO YOUNG FOR A NIGHTIE, AND TOO YOUNG FOR A BUTTON DOWN THE FRONT VERSION OF PJ'S, SO SHE GOT A PULL OVER YOUR HEAD TOP IN RED KNIT.  IT IS THE SAME KNIT I USED FOR CAPRI'S NIGHTGOWN.  HER ANGEL GOT PUT IN THE CENTER OF THE TOP WHICH MAKES IT A LITTLE DIFFERENT AS WELL FROM THE OTHER GIRLS I GUESS, BUT HEY GRANDMA DID THE BEST SHE COULD TO MATCH THEM ALL.

CLOSER LOOK AT THE ANGEL.  BOTH THE ANGEL AND THE REINDEER WERE DESIGNS FOR THE FREE STANDING LACE FOR THE ORNAMENTS. BUT I FIGURED OUT HOW TO TWEAK THE MACHINE TO LEAVE THE HANGER OFF THE TOP.  IT KEEPS GETTING EASIER AND EASIER TO MAKE THE MACHINE DO WHAT I WANT IT DO IT NOW THANK GOODNESS

AND THIS IS THE NIGHTGOWN I MADE FOR MY GREAT NIECE TODAY FOR HER SIXTH BIRTHDAY

CLOSER LOOK AT THE DARLING FLANNEL FABRIC

I MADE HER A FROZEN ZIPPERED POUCH AS WELL OUT OF LEFT OVER FABRIC FROM MY GRAND DAUGHTER'S PILLOW CASES, AND I WILL PROBABLY FILL IT WITH SOME CUTE LITTLE THINGS LIKE FLAVORED CHAP STICKS AND SUCH  CAN'T SEE IT VERY WELL BUT I PUT A CUTE DECORATIVE STITCH ON IT OUT OF MATCHING AQUA EMBROIDERY THREAD

THIS IS A PIC OF MY TWO OF MY OTHER NIECES, KATIE AND TABI.  KATI TURNED SIXTEEN TODAY AND THIS WAS TAKEN ON THEIR WAY OUT FOR A SPECIAL DINNER WITH HER PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS LAST SAT.  THEY ARE JUST ADORABLE.  TABI IS NINETEEN NOW

HAPPY SWEET SIXTEEN KATIE!

AND HERE'S THE LITTLE POUCH I MADE FOR KATIE

GRANDDAUGHTER LINDSEY'S PROFESSIONAL PIC OF HOMECOMING.....DOESN'T SHE LOOK ADORABLE?

AND TWO AND HALF YEAR OLD LUKE!  HOW GRANDMA LOVES THIS LITTLE SWEETIE!

A NORMAL DAY AT THE FARM FOR THESE TWO
CLAIRE'S FIRST WAGON RIDE.  NOT SURE WHO LOVED IT MORE, HER OR SAM! HE TAKES HIS ROLE OF BIG BROTHER SERIOUSLY!

AND THIS IS A SNEAK PEAK AT THE FAMILY PICS MEL'S FAMILY HAD DONE FOR CHRISTMAS CARDS AND GIFTS THIS YEAR.  I AM SOOOOO ANXIOUS TO SEE THE REST!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS....BE STILL MY HEART....

Sooo guess that's about it.  We have got all of our outdoor Christmas lights up which I know is WAY early, but first of all we don't light them up yet and won't till after Thanksgiving, and then it just works out soo much better for us when we divide up that chore and do just a couple of hours or so for a few weeks.  This week-end we will decorate inside the house, and the following week-end we will put up our tree, and then that following Monday we will leave for New Mexico for a week.  When we get back it will be the 30th of November and we will be all decorated for Christmas which will be a good feeling.  What can I say, I have ALWAYS been a planner and a "get-her-done asap kind of person. That's why I started sewing in July for Christmas.....though that didn't work out too well now did it? lol  I've read a good book recently, and saw Woodlawn at the movies which we ABSOLUTELY loved, and women's group continues to go well, so I think I've covered it all now. Hope you are all enjoying your days, and feel and see His blessings everywhere, Debbie

  3. Wow, you've been so busy ... no wonder you haven't had time to blog. Perhaps after Thanksgiving things will slow down for you (yeah right ... you'll find something else to work on! ha!). Counting down the days with you until time to see those little ones you've been missing so much!

  6. WHEW!! you are one busy lady, my dh says "a busy person is a happy person!" Everything is so pretty, Debbie, and those grandchildren are absolutely adorable, enjoy your trip to visit, Mel and her family! I think getting the decorating done before you leave is such a great idea. I am so glad I decorated my foyer tree before my surgery, as I am still experiencing some blurred vision!
    Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
    Hugs,

  7. Hi Debbie, I've been meaning to write you since last week. Boy you are always so productive with your sewing! You asked about what the grands are making for their moms- well they are making a stationary holder, from a placemat and also a travel curling iron cover(which will be a challenge for this nana). I love your pjs-if you lived here you could teach me. Mel and family's pics are so beautiful.nwe are certainly blessed. Happy Thanksgiving my friend, safe travels.
    Love,
    Noreen
