OUR THANKSGIVING TRIP

I am going to try to tell the story of Thanksgiving 2015 as quickly as I can, though I think most of you know how that usually turns out for me, lol.  I have another really REALLY busy next couple of weeks coming up, but after that things should settle down some over here.  As I mentioned before Melody and her little family are coming early for Christmas this year and will be here on Thursday. So that leaves me only the next 4 days to finish several sewing projects up, clean and prepare the house, catch up the laundry, grocery shop and prepare food, sort through and organize all the toys, wrap a few presents,  and oh yeah have Bible study here on Wednesday morning as well, lol.  Soo glad we got as much done as we did before we left.  But as usual I am getting a little ahead of myself....let me back up and tell the highlights of our trip.

We left by eight am Monday morning feeling good and as ready as we can be for a long day of travel. We stopped 12 hours later in Lordsburgh New Mexico and spent the night.  After a good nights sleep we hit the road again about 7 am and pulled onto the dairy by 3 that afternoon.  The boys were SOO excited to see us, and I honestly could not believe the size of Claire.  Goodness 4 months makes such a HUGE difference in a little baby's life.  She came to me right away, though she did seem a little tentative and looked long and hard at me as if she was thinking, "who IS this lady?" lol.  But Melody said, "give kisses Claire." and she leaned in and offered her little lips and I was toast the rest of the week-end, lol.  I honestly don't know if I could tell all the sweet and adorable little things they all did over the course of the next 3 days, so I'll only hit a few of them as I move quickly through this story.  My youngest son James and his family didn't arrive until around eight that night, so Luke and Claire had already gone to bed.  But Sam was waiting.  The cousins had fun together for a while before my son and his family left to go to Melody's FIL house [also on the dairy] to stay while he was in California.  Worked out soo well for us all.  The next couple of days were full of playing cousins, sweet conversations, GOOD food, and just hanging out together.  I soo treasure these times together as of course they are just rare with Melody living soo far away from us all.  I have a couple of things that are sticking out in my mind that sooo warmed my heart while I was there that I just have to share.  One of them involved my sweet little Luke.  At 2 and half he is just the sweetest thing you ever saw.  His little personality can only be described that way....sweet.  He is affectionate and loving, easily pleased and eager to please, happy and easy going and LOVES spending his time on grandma [and OK Grandpa's too] laps being read to and kissed and fussed over.  Well, it was on Thanksgiving evening and we had just finished our DELICIOUS dinner and I was reclining on the couch resting and little Luke walked into the room.  He looked over and noticed me there and broke into a sweet grin and said, "Need a squeeze grandma!" and ran over and gave me a BIG hug.  I melted into a pool of mush and had a hard time letting him go, lol.  Now they all give hugs when asked of course, but it is rare for one of them to spontaneously give one on their own.  It just melted me.  And then the other incidence that sticks in my mind came from little Sam.  We were all ready to sit down for our Thanksgiving dinner.  The adults at one table, and the kids at another.  You probably know that last minute flurry as you dish up food and get it to the table and gather everyone around and your finally quiet which is when Mike asked my son James to pray.  So we all bowed our heads to pray and my son said, "OK, lets pray" and that's when on his own little Sam broke into the most sincere sweet little prayer you ever heard.  He thanked God for his family, his cousins and grandparents coming to visit and play with him, the food we were about to eat and for everything in his house!"  It just said it all....We all joined him in a big AMEN, and began our feast.  It let me know that not only is his heart tender and sincere, praying and thanking God for all he is blessed with is no foreign thing for him. Can't tell you how that warmed my heart.  I think I will just let the pictures tell the rest of our adventures....GET READY for a bajillion!  lol

  1. Oh you did a fantastic job on getting all the wonderful photos (even those of little ones not in the mood =D). Sam's prayer blessed me. What a spontaneous expression of praise and gratitude. (Our youngest added a P.S. to John's prayer that still makes me misty-eyed when I think of it.) Sounds busy, busy at your place. Pace yourself!

  3. Sam's prayer was so sweet, that would have made me cry for sure if one of my grands did that. The Dairy looks like such a fun place for a child to grow up. I know you had a wonderful time....and you get to see them again, what a blessing! Enjoy them during their visit, I know it's so hard to have them far away. Blessings to you and yours!

  8. Debbie, I never met you in person, but spending time here on your blog, after being away for such a long time, makes me feel like I do know you. You are a special lady, with a lovely family and a huge heart. I love seeing all these pictures and reading about your moments in Oct., Nov., and December. Thank you so much for sharing all that you do here. It has made my cup of coffee taste even better.
