HODGEPODGE WEDNESDAY

Already Wednesday, and time for the Hodgepodge.  You can join the others by clicking on the picture.  See ya there!

1.  Describe love using all five senses...Oh wow, this could take a while and might be kind of hard, lol, and I am not sure how we are supposed to do this.  I ALWAYS overthink these things.  Does it mean in general, or specifically for us. Between a man and a woman or something/someone else.  I think it will be easiest for me if I just use a baby as my example.   Lets start with smelling....there is definitely just something about the smell of a baby.  Especially right after their bath with the smell of light baby lotion and their sweet breath...heaven.  And then sight....honestly is there anything more precious then the sight of a sleeping baby with their eyelashes laying against their little cheeks and their innocence for all to see.  And then hearing.  A babies sweet giggle, cooing and babbling, saying mama for the first time, all such precious sounds.  And touch.  Well hugging and kissing and loving a baby up is one of my favorite things of all time.  Leaving taste....I guess maybe that would be hard to describe, lol.  Love of a taste for a baby is brand new.  From
the first time they taste solid food, to discovering that something "sweet" is pretty good.  I have a feeling I didn't do this the way it was intended, grin.  Loving definitely involves ALL the senses I believe, but in many different ways.

 2.  February is Canned Food Month.  What's your favorite food that comes straight from a can?  I must be in a weird mind set because I am overthinking this too, lol.  Let's see, I LOVE canned chicken and use it in a number of ways.  From just dumping it on a salad, to making it into a chicken salad sandwich, to using it in a chicken pot pie, or chicken noodle soup it is something you can usually count on making it's way into my grocery cart.
THIS IS HOW I WOULD LOOK IN PJ'S, LOL

3.  A principal in a UK school recently sent home a letter to parents requesting they [the parents!] dress appropriately when escorting their children to/from school [basically saying please don't wear your pajamas].  You can read the letter here.  It's gotten a lot of publicity, both positive and negative. Your thoughts?  And do/did you ever make the school run [or hit Starbucks, Walmart, etc] in your pj's?  Well, this is interesting and I imagine there will be many varied opinions and thoughts considering we are all different.  For me personally I believe that PJ'S have their definite place, and our wonderful, wonderful garments, but they don't belong on the public streets.  But then I am funny about things like that.  Not sure why.  I have NO problem with babies and toddlers out in PJ'S, but not adults.  I am an early riser.  Always was, [except for those teen years when I couldn't seem to sleep in late enough] and I pretty much to this day [though there really is no longer a need] step into my shower right after I roll out of bed.  I NEVER left to take to my kids to school which I did of course for years and years and years with 4 of them spread out quite a bit in age, without being not only dressed but my hair and makeup completely done.  It's just what I did.  I usually got out of the car at school and chatted and talked with other moms and sometimes went for coffee as well. Usually any baby I may have had at the time was dressed as well, but there were those occasions where waking them at the last minute to make the run meant leaving them in their jammies.  I can say though while I would NEVER consider doing it, and think it is better if they are dressed, I do not nor have I ever judged women who do.  Some people have a HARD time getting going and getting things done and maybe deal with a lot more in the mornings then I ever did.  HOWEVER, I don't think demanding women be dressed and not in PJ's to be on campus is not too much to ask.

4.  Crew neck, V-neck, turtleneck, scoop neck...which is most prevalent in your wardrobe?  Oh scoop neck for sure.  Almost ALL of mine are.

5.  I read here recently a list of four things to avoid so you wake up happier.  They were late night snacks, hitting the snooze button, social media just before bed/upon waking, checking emails.  Are you guilty of any of these behaviors?  Which on that list do you need to work harder at avoiding? Well in the last couple of years since I got an i-phone I DO browse quickly through Facebook and Instagram before I plug it in to be charged and turn off my light to sleep.  I have not noticed it making any difference in my mood when I wake in the morning.  I thoroughly enjoy it as I usually am just looking for pics of my kids and grandkids to enjoy, or a quick recipe or something like that.  I do it quickly so it's not much time, and at this point I have no attention of avoiding it, lol.  I usually wake up pretty happy.

6.  Share something you remember about a house you lived in as a child?  Of all the homes you lived in as a child, which did you love the best?  Hmmm, I think one of the hundreds of things I remember about this house was the view out the window while laying on my parents bed.  I used to go in there frequently and lay across their bed and gaze endlessly out that window.  The view as I think back on it now was really not all that spectacular either.  Just of our front yard which had a HUGE tree, freshly cut green grass most of the time, and countless different kind of flowers which seemed as though they were always blooming.   My dad took quite a bit of pride in that front yard and worked on it tirelessly it seemed.  There were generally neighborhood kids out front playing as well and riding by on their bikes or roller skates.  It was just a comfortable, homey scene and feeling and I loved it.  Thinking back on it now I wonder why my mother never seemed to complain about me sprawled across her neatly made bed looking out that window? Maybe because she understood and did it frequently too.  Whatever it was she never complained.  This was definitely the home I loved the most and lived in from the time I was nine until the day I married.  Most of my memories of growing up it seemed included this wonderful house.

7.  Your favorite movie based on a true story?  This will be a hard one for me because movies based on true stories are my favorite by far, and I have several that I love.  I think the one that is coming to my mind most right now is Erin Brockovich staring Julia Roberts.  But honestly as a very close second is Schindlers List.  Both excellent movies in my opinion and I have seen them both several times.

8.  Insert your own random thought here... Not many random thoughts rattling around up there right now which is unusual for me I will admit, lol.  Just looking forward to this week-end.  If you follow my blog at all then you know that I had the privilege over the last several months to be involved with my youngest sisters family and the giving of their hearts to Jesus.   It started with their sixteen year old daughter Katie, and now includes her parents and her little brother.  Their whole family.  It has been exciting to watch God work, and be a witness to such a miracle.  Anyway, several weeks ago Katie began to talk about wanting to get baptized, and about wanting her cousin the Pastor [my son] to do it.  LONG story short my son is coming here on Sat. and their whole will be getting baptized in our parks spa.  My son's church usually hold a baptism once a year at the beach, but in the summertime of course.  If anyone expresses the desire to get baptized in the meantime, he usually just finds a swimming pool somewhere, which in So. California is not hard to do. Katie is way too excited for any waiting, so we decided to do it here and were thrilled my son agreed to drive up.  I just couldn't be happier about all of this.  Katie and her mom [my sister Donna] have continued coming to my home on Tues evenings for bible study, and I can't express enough how much it has blessed me watching them grow.  I did pray it would be a nice warm day with hopefully NO rain, and I just checked our weather on my phone this morning and it is supposed to be in the mid seventies on Sat.  Doesn't get much better.  God is good!

  1. I corrected the link, and you are not the only one so no worries : ) Here's what I do...click on your blog header to refresh the page. Then I click on your blog title, so the link to the actual post appears in the bar up top. I copy and paste what's in the bar into the link slot on the linky form. I understand technology frustrations, so don't give up. It's an easy fix for me on this end if it's not right. I overthink all my answers too so we are alike in that way. Yes, we never know what's going on in a person's home or life.

  3. Haha! On #3, I see that I am both like you and unlike you! I am like you in that I never leave my house without my hair and make-up done and "real" clothes on. Unlike you, I am not a morning person, so I am happy that (because we homeschool) I have never had to take my kids to school! I don't like early appointments for the same reason.

Rejoicing with you about your sister's family's new walk with the Lord!!

  4. You know what? I have never tried canned chicken. Maybe I will have to make chicken salad or something and try it. What a great story of your youngest sisters family! Such a wonderful PRAISE! I hope you all have a beautiful day to celebrate.

  5. Believe it or not, I have still not watched Schindlers List! I need to do that. I LOVE the photo of being all snuggled up to Baby and getting kisses. How cute is that! I also think that every front yard needs a huge tree. What a wonderful memory.

  6. There is nothing more exciting than babes in The Lord. second, new babies in the family. I really liked the way you did the five senses question. Good descriptions. (I love canned chicken for chicken salad sandwiches. I grind mine up even more and then add the seasonings...yummy! Now I know what's for lunch.)

  8. I must respond to your last answer first. How wonderful and exciting to see your family come to a knowledge and acceptance of Jesus Christ. Isn't their excitement contagious? I am so thrilled for all of you and will be thinking about you this weekend. I have gotten so many good movie suggestions from all the answers today. We aren't big movie goers but had really forgotten about so many that have been favorites through the years. I too over think my answers and the comment is probably over thought as well. Loved the thoughts on grandbabies! Have a great weekend, Debbie.

  10. I enjoyed all of your answers today but especially the last words about your family coming to accept Jesus as their Savior. What a thrill that must be to see. I was just praying yesterday that I'd love to see some people in my family really draw close to Him. I want to see a real change and devotion to Him that I've not seen in them for many, many years. I am so happy for you.
