WEEKLY SEWING PROJECTS

Well it's Mon morning and the start of a new week, and the day I have set aside to yak about all my most recent sewing.  I have to have everything finished up by the end of this month as both the shower for the new baby and Claire's first birthday are both in April.  I had a busy week it seemed last week, but didn't get nearly as much done as I would have liked.  I started the week off by having to take my machine in.  The embroidery on and off button was no longer working.  It has been slow for quite some time [started way before Christmas] but I have just been nursing it along.  But it finally came to a complete halt and I really had no choice.  Apparently it is not a large expense, but he had to order the part, and as it was almost time for a servicing again I decided to go ahead and get that done too.  I had to leave it there and hopefully it will be done some time today.  Meanwhile I got out my old machine and have been moving right along on it.  Old reliable is what I ought to call her. But I have several things I need to embroider, so hopefully it will in fact be done today.  I started off the week finishing up all of the little legging pants for the newborn.  I had them done except for the elastic in the waist bands so that didn't take very long.  I also made matching head bows and head bands, and a little eyelet top just like Claire's for her too.  They are all SOO tiny.  It's hard to believe that they will probably start out being too big for her. They are the same pattern I used for Claire when she was born and goodness knows they swam on her.  Though she only weighed six pounds, so guess it will depend on how much this new one weighs.  But judging by Annabel I'd say pretty little. Let me show you these...

LOOK AT HOW TINY THOSE LEGGINGS ARE, LOL

CLOSER LOOK AT THE LITTLE EYELET OUTFIT.  ANNABEL ESPECIALLY LOVES THE ROSE FLOWER HEADBAND I MADE AS HER MIDDLE NAME IS TO BE ROSE...MIGHT BE HER COMING HOME OUTFIT

CLOSER LOOK AT BOTH THE EYELET AND THE ROSE HEADBAND

THE SAME FABRIC HERE I USED FOR CLAIRE...AND IT'S HARD TO SEE BUT THE CROWN AND THE PRINCESS ARE EMBROIDERED IN NAVY.  OF COURSE THE EYELET TOP WILL GO WITH THIS OUTFIT TOO

THESE LITTLE LEGGINGS TURNED OUT CUTE BUT IT WAS YOUR WORSE NIGHTMARE KIND OF KNIT HERE.  SUPER HARD TO WORK WITH.  SOME KNITS ARE EASY AND NICE, BUT THEN SOME ARE BETTER LEFT ALONE AND THIS WAS ONE OF THEM.  I KNEW IT OF COURSE WHEN I BOUGHT IT BUT LOVED THE GLITTER POLKA DOTS TOO MUCH TO NOT BUY IT

CLOSER LOOK AT THE GLITTER BOW I MADE...IT WAS FROM A FABRIC SHEET I BOUGHT AT HOBBY LOBBY.  IF I GET THE TIME [and that's a big IF] I MIGHT MAKE SOME SHOES OUT OF IT AS WELL TO COMPLETE THIS OUTFIT

Then, I had quite a bit of eyelet left over from when I made the tops so I decided to make a little ruffled bloomer and a matching bow out of it for the new baby too.  They can be worn of course with the eyelet top, or really any other top as well.  And I decided to make a little pair of baby bootie/shoes to go with this outfit too...let me show you....

HERE'S THE WHOLE ENSEMBLE

I ADDED TWO ROWS OF EYELET RUFFLES TO THE BACK OF THE BLOOMERS, AND A FEW LITTLE SPARKLING BOWS AS WELL

I SAW A TUTORIAL A WHILE AGO ON HOW TO MAKE A BOW OUT OF EYELET LACE AND I WANTED TO TRY IT OUT...SOME PARTS OF IT WERE EASIER THEN I THOUGHT, AND OTHERS NEED SOME WORK, LOL...BUT HERE IT IS

AND THEN THESE LITTLE SHOES....THESE WERE THE DREADED "FIDDLY" BUT I HAVE A FEELING THAT IF I MADE A FEW MORE THEY'D GET QUICKER AND EASIER...THEY ARE REALLY A SWEET LITTLE PATTERN AND OBVIOUSLY COUNTLESS WAYS YOU COULD MAKE THESE DIFFERENTLY..
Then...I also made a couple of bloomers with matching headband ties for Claire.  These are out of fabric that Melody sent me.  She always just sends me a yard of whatever she picks out because I've told her it is always more then enough to make her something.  But with the little bloomers and headbands it is WAY more then I need, so I decided to try and see if I could get a little top out of one of them too so I gave it a whirl.  It was close, but I did make it.  Let me show you these....

LOVED THIS FABRIC AND THIS TOP WAS SUPER SIMPLE

IT CLOSES IN THE BACK WITH A SINGLE BUTTON SO THAT THE REST OF IT IS OPEN AND SHOWS OFF HER LITTLE RUFFLED BLOOMER....I TRIMMED IT ALL IN A DECORATIVE STITCH TOO
LOVE THIS "SPRINGY" FABRIC SHE PICKED OUT HERE
I think that about covers the sewing from last week...Our week-end was a nice one.  Did all the usual things and enjoyed a good rain storm too on Sat. night.  In fact it is POURING right now as I type this, complete with lightening and thunder.  We really don't get much of that here in So California. Hope people are being careful on the freeways on their morning commutes  We OBVIOUSLY need much, much more so hopefully this will continue for a while. We got our oven repaired yesterday which was also GOOD.  We have not had that working for us now for about 3 weeks.  Didn't think I even used it much until I didn't have it to use.  But isn't that always the case?  lol.  Hope you all have a good week!  Many blessings to you all!  Debbie

GRAND DAUGHTER LINDSEY PITCHING IN HER HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL GAME.....SHE'S DOING PRETTY GOOD!

CODY LEARNING TO USE CHOP STICKS....SUCH CONCENTRATION

AND NAUGHTY LITTLE CLAIRE, LOL....SHE'S EVERYWHERE AND ANYWHERE AS FAST AS SHE CAN GO, LOL

AND MY LITTLE JEFFIE GOT THE MATHEMATICS AWARD FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY!  THIS IS QUITE THE ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR THIS GUY AS HE HAS BEEN PUTTING IN LOTS OF EXTRA EFFORT WITH MATH!   DEFINITELY NOT HIS FAVORITE! [kind of like grandma!]

  7. Congrats to the Math Whiz! (I never won a math award that's for sure.) Sewing does require a fair amount of math though, right?

Oh all those outfits are adorable...wonderful fabric and pattern combinations. Your progeny will be well dressed!

Glad that the rain is coming, but praying for gentle rain...gentle and easy.
