THE SHOWER AND THE LAST MINUTE PROJECTS FROM LAST WEEK!

I had a busy BUSY week last week as I tried to finish up everything that needed to be done for the baby shower for Annabel so there just wasn't time for much blogging.  I know you all know how those times are, and this week is not going to be any better as we hope to leave at the crack of dawn on Wed. to go to New Mexico to Melody's house to help celebrate Claire's first birthday on Sat.  But in the meantime I want to give you a brief [yeah right, lol] re-cap of the shower.  The fact that it was raining did concern me a little at first I will admit, but it honestly it ended up just not mattering at all. It was such a nice day.  Though it did start EARLY as hubby and I rushed around getting ready trying not to forget anything.  All week I had been collecting the things I was bringing and putting them altogether on our dining room table so that hopefully that wouldn't happen, lol  We stopped at the florists on the way out of Brea and picked up the GORGEOUS flowers.  I was really happy with the way they turned out.  Then we arrived at Joe and Leah's house and we began the decorating.  We started by removing all but one piece of furniture from their dining room [it's a pretty big room thankfully] and then began the arranging and re-arranging of the tables etc., to try and make room for 22 guests to gather and still have room to move around etc.  It wasn't easy I am going to admit, but we got it done and honestly I thought the room looked just adorable.  Annabel couldn't have been more pleased on the day, and of course that's what it was all about.  We visited and had a WONDERFUL lunch [prepared completely by Leah] of chicken and egg salad sandwiches, a tasty [or so I heard, lol] pasta salad, a spinach and strawberry salad, and fresh fruit.  There was water and raspberry tea to drink and we visited and enjoyed each other's company.  Then we played a couple of games followed by the opening of her gifts.  Goodness she got SOOO many darling and useful things.  We finished up with cake, cookies, and chocolate covered strawberries, and LOTS of continued visiting and conversation. It was just one of those special days that will go down in the memory books I am sure to always be remembered.  I did NOT get hardly any pics at all on the day, but thankfully others did so I have borrowed some of them to show you a bit of how it looked.

THIS SHOT WAS QUITE THE PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE BECAUSE AS YOU CAN SEE WITH THE LIGHT BEHIND THE WINDOW IT WAS HARD.  BUT THIS WAS THE "DESSERT" TABLE AND I WAS VERY PLEASED ON HOW IT CAME OUT....

LOVED THIS ANGLE, AND THE VIEW OUT THEIR WINDOW IS SUCH A PRETTY ONE....DON'T KNOW IF YOU CAN SEE VERY WELL, BUT THERE WERE YUMMY CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES, COOKIES, AND SOME PURPLE AND WHITE SUCKERS IN A BOWL OF LAVENDER M AND M'S...

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH HOW THE CAKE CAME OUT....SOO PRETTY!

LOVED IT!
THIS WAS A VERY BAD PIC AS THE LIGHT OF THE WINDOW WAS RIGHT BEHIND IT, BUT I HAD SPRAY PAINTED THIS OLD PIC FRAME PURPLE AND THIS EMBROIDERY DESIGN WENT REALLY CUTE IN IT.  I WAS AMAZED AT HOW PERFECTLY THE PURPLE MATCHED EVERYTHING.  I ENJOYED THE PROCESS SO MUCH I KEPT LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ELSE TO BE SPRAY PAINTED BUT NEVER CAME UP WITH ANYTHING BESIDES THE CLOTHES PINS THAT HELD UP THE ONESIES ON THE CLOTHES LINE AND THE QUILT, LOL

A VIEW OF THE WHOLE ROOM KIND OF BEFORE ANYONE ARRIVED [MINUS THE CAKE WHICH HUBBY WAS STILL PICKING UP, LOL]...YOU CAN'T SEE THEM VERY WELL BUT I HAD MADE PURPLE AND WHITE TISSUE POM POMS TO HANG FROM THE CEILING LAST WEEK....THEY WERE KIND OF A PAIN TO DO AND HONESTLY I COULDN'T GET THEM PERFECTLY ROUND TO SAVE MY LIFE, LOL, BUT THEY WERE PRETTY CUTE..YOU CAN SEE THE PILLOW AND THE OWL AND THE GIRAFFE UP ON THE CABINET BEHIND THE GIFT TABLE TOO IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY
THE OTHER SCRIPTURE PIC BY SOME FLOWERS OUT IN THE KITCHEN WHERE THE FOOD WAS LAID OUT
PERFECT PLACE TO HANG THE QUILT

SOO MANY DARLING THINGS

TIME TO CUT THE CAKE

COUSINS KATIE AND ANNABEL
All in all it was a very nice day and I am soo glad we were able to enjoy it together.  Other then telling you about the shower I want to document for my journals, and show you of course, the last few things that I made.  The tissue pom poms were first, followed by finishing up the pillow after I picked up the pillow front from the quilter.  And then I embroidered a few more onesies, made a pair of bloomers, a top, and a matching onesie for Claire, and made her a little purse.  I got to thinking that all the things I had to give her for her birthday this week-end fell in the "clothes" category [except for maybe her softie doll] so I wanted to make her something to play with too.  I settled on a little personalized purse and I got a little play pink cell phone for it, some plastic keys, and a little plastic lip stick.  Melody said one of her favorite things to do is to collect little things and put them in and out of a container, so I am thinking she will enjoy this purse.  Plus, what girl doesn't like her cell phone, lol.  In between all of this I had my hair done, and got a pedi and mani done, and got everything all wrapped up and prepared, and oh yeah, put together the "sucker display"  Let me show you all this...

PURPLE AND WHITE TISSUE FLOWERS....THEY GOT BETTER WITH EACH ONE I MADE, BUT NONE OF THEM SUITED ME REALLY WELL IF I AM BEING HONEST, LOL.  THEY WERE ATTACHED TO FISHING WIRE TO HANG THEM

CAN'T REALLY SEE THE QUILTING VERY WELL ON THIS BUT I WAS VERY PLEASED...SHE DID NOT PUT ANY ON THE EMBROIDERED SQUARES WHICH I THINK WAS BETTER TOO.  BUT I DECIDED THERE WAS TOO MUCH WHITE IN THIS SO I DECIDED TO ADD THE SILKY PURPLE RUFFLE TO THE WHOLE PILLOW...MUCH BETTER

JUST ANOTHER VIEW SHOWING HOW IT MATCHED WITH THE QUILT AND THE SOFTIES

THE SUCKERS......THIS WAS KIND OF A DISAPPOINTING STORY, LOL, IN THAT I THOUGHT THE SUCKERS WERE GOING TO BE WAY BIGGER THEN THESE  [I ORDERED THEM ONLINE]..I JUST THOUGHT THEY WERE SOO CUTE.  THEN I BOUGHT A PIECE OF STYROFOAM TO STICK THEM IN AND COVERED IT ALL IN LAVENDER M AND M'S....IT WAS OK I GUESS, BUT NOT NEARLY AS CUTE AS I WAS HOPING  FOR, LOL
I LOVED THIS LITTLE OUTFIT FOR CLAIRE

ONE OF THE ONESIES THAT ENDED UP HANGING ON THE LINE OVER THE DESSERT TABLE.  THIS DESIGN I PUT TOGETHER MYSELF AND I USED THE METALLIC GOLD THREAD IN THE WORDING...SOO CUTE...WAY MORE SPARKLY THEN IS BEING SHOWN HERE

AND ANOTHER....

AND HAD TO DO A MERMAID AS ANNABEL IS VERY PARTIAL TO MERMAIDS

AND HERE IS THE PURSE!  CAN'T TELL YOU HOW PLEASED I AM WITH IT.  THIS IS ALSO AN "IN THE HOOP" DESIGN THOUGH IT HAD TO BE DONE IN 4 SEPARATE HOOPINGS TO GET THIS BIG, AND THEN THE STRAPS ARE MADE WITH YOUR REGULAR SEWING MACHINE AND THE FOUR PIECES ARE CONNECTED AND PUT TOGETHER THAT WAY AS WELL.  I MANAGED TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO OUTSMART THE DESIGN SOFTWARE AND GET HER NAME ON THERE TOO AND I LOVED THE WAY THAT LOOKED TOO....3 YEARS LATER AND I REALLY HAVE GOTTEN DOWN HOW TO "WORK" THE MACHINE INSTEAD OF THE MACHINE "WORKING" ME,LOL

HERE IS THE BACK OF THE PURSE...I LOVE THIS LINE OF FABRIC WHICH I BOUGHT SOME OF THE DAY I WAS PICKING UP THE PILLOW FRONT.  ALL OF THE APPLIQUE ON THE FRONT WAS TAKEN FROM A CHARM PACK OF THE SAME LINE OF FABRIC....SOO FUN
INSIDE LINING....SAME LINE OF FABRIC.  AREN'T THOSE BIRDS ADORABLE?

Soo needless to say you can see why I was soo busy.  Looking back I am not sure how I got it all done, and I will admit that yesterday I was VERY tired.  Didn't do much of anything at all after church besides lay around on the couch, lol.  But today [as soon as I finish here] I need to finish up a couple of small things at the sewing machine, do some laundry, and start gathering things together for our trip.  I am very certain I will not be posting again till after we are back, but I will be around in the next couple of days or so visiting with all of you I am sure.  Hope you all have a GOOD week.  Many blessings to you all!  Debbie
