A SEWING FRENZY

I could just cry, lol.....I had written quite a bit and pushed something on my new computer and lost the WHOLE THING....If it hadn't been for the fact that I haven't put up a post in 10 days I think I would just throw in the towel and call it a wrap, but guess I will press on and try again.

I have not been up to a single thing new.  I have just been on a sewing frenzy I think you could safely call it.  I have determined that what I really like sewing best is baby girl clothes.  And since I have TWO little grandbaby girls right now, it is keeping me pretty busy.  I do have 3 toddler boys as well and they are kind of fun too, but they don't touch those girls when it comes to sewing clothes.  lol. Anyway, I think I mentioned that I have found a "new to me" shop that carries both current PDF patterns, and THE most darling little knit fabrics you have ever seen.  Now they carry cottons too, but for sewing for babies, knit is hard to beat.  It is called Peek a boo pattern shop for those who might be interested.  I will admit that there fabric is a little on the pricey side, but the patterns are very reasonably priced, AND I did just get Melody to order some of it to make PJ'S for her babies and had her send it to me, as I got her to fall in love with it too, lol.  I am just itching to get my hands on it...  I did talk to the owner of the shop and she assured me she ordered plenty of extra of the Christmas fabric I missed the pre order for, and there should be no trouble getting what I want come the first of October.  It is going to press me a little for time, but I will just have to be diligent, lol.  Sooooo ALL of this just to say I have been doing A LOT of sewing these last 10 days.  So let me show you....

OK I WILL START WITH THIS ONE FOR CLAIRE....NOW ALL OF THIS FABRIC WAS FROM JOANNES AND ON SALE....WITH A SINGLE YARD OF FABRIC I AM ABLE TO GET LEGGINGS AND TOPS FOR BOTH BABIES, MAKING THE WHOLE OUTFITS ABOUT 5 OR 6 DOLLARS.  I PRE SHRINK ALL OF THE FABRIC SO THAT HOPEFULLY THE GIRLS WILL NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THAT, AND HONESTLY I WAS REALLY SURPRISED HOW MUCH SOME OF IT SHRANK, MEANING I REALLY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A FULL YARD TO WORK WITH IN SOME CASES.  I LOVE THE FABRICS ON THIS, AND CLAIRE IS LOVE WITH "NEIGH NEIGH'S" RIGHT NOW SO I AM THINKING SHE IS GOING TO LOVE THIS.  THESE LITTLE POLKA DOT LEGGINGS CAN GO WITH MANY, MANY OTHER THINGS AS WELL MAKING THEM QUITE VERSATILE.  THIS IS A PEEK A BOO FABRIC PATTERN, AND I LOVED IT!!!  SUPER SIMPLE TOO AND WELL WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS AS WELL.  THE LITTLE BOWS LAYING BY THE HOOD ARE NOT ATTACHED, LOL, THEY ARE JUST TO SHOW HOW THE BOWS I MADE MATCH THE OUTFIT.

AND THIS ONE IS THE SAME FABRIC BUT FOR SOPHIA THIS TIME.  ANOTHER LITTLE PEEK A BOO PATTERN, AND THE LITTLE V NECK IS SUPER EASY AND CUTE.  I ADDED THE LITTLE LABEL JUST FOR A LITTLE EXTRA SOMETHING.  I USED THE LONG SLEEVES AND ADDED THE LITTLE CUFFS FROM ANOTHER PATTERN AND IT WORKED OUT JUST FINE

THIS IS JUST TO SHOW YOU HOW WELL IT GOES WITH SOMETHING ELSE TOO.  I GOT THIS SUPER CUTE STRETCHY DENIM FABRIC AND THEY BOTH GOT A PAIR OF THESE TOO

OH, AND I FORGOT TO PICTURE IN MOST OF THEM, BUT THEY BOTH GOT LITTLE TOP KNOT HEAD BANDS TO MATCH WITH ALL THE LEGGINGS TOO.

CLOSE UP LOOK AT THE DENIM

OK ON TO A NEW FABRIC NOW.  THIS LITTLE BIRDIE PRINT WAS ADORABLE I THOUGHT.  ANOTHER PEEK A BOOK PATTERN.  SUPER SIMPLE AND GOT PATTERNS FOR THE BOYS FROM THIS TOO.  IT IS SHOWN HERE WITH THE DENIM.  THE DENIM  OF COURSE GOES WITH ALMOST EVERYTHING.  I ADDED A CUTE LITTLE LABEL TO THIS SHIRT TOO.
THIS ONE IS SOPHIA'S....SAME PATTERN AS BEFORE BUT I USED THE SHORT SLEEVES THIS TIME AND ADDED A RUFFLE AT THE BOTTOM.  JUST KIND OF MADE THAT UP BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS CUTE.  OH, AND I ADDED ON THE LITTLE HEART APPLIQUE AS WELL.  I REALLY LOVED THIS ONE!

JUST SHOWING HOW WELL IT GOES WITH THE POLKA DOT LEGGINGS TOO.  BOTH GIRLS GOT THE POLKA DOT LEGGINGS

CLOSER LOOK AT THE BIRD FABRIC.  ISN'T IT SWEET?

OK SAME PATTERN BUT DIFFERENT FABRIC...THIS IS CLAIRE'S.  THIS IS A DIFFERENT PRINT ON STRETCHY DENIM THAT THEY BOTH GOT TOO.  IT HAS LITTLE LIGHT BLUE HEARTS ON IT.  ADORABLE!  THE RUFFLE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TOP, AND ON THE APPLIQUED STAR IS MADE OUT OF COTTON THIS TIME INTEAD OF KNIT.  TWINKLE, TWINKLE LITTLE STAR....SOOO CUTE!  THE HOOD IS LINED IN THE SAME WHITE AS THE SLEEVES

CLOSER LOOK AT THE TWINKLE FABRIC AND ALSO THE DENIM HEART

AND THIS ONE IS SOPHIA'S.....HERS HAS LONG SLEEVES AND RIBBED CUFFS, AND THE HOOD IS ALSO OUT OF THE TWINKLE TWINKLE FABRIC, AND LINED IN THE BLUE.  BOTH GIRLS GOT THESE PLAIN BLUE LEGGINGS AS WELL.
I MADE A LITTLE PAIR OF DENIM SHOES FOR SOPHIA THIS TIME.  I JUST WANTED TO SHOW YOU HOW I USED THESE LITTLE CLIPS TO "PIN" MY FABRICS TOGETHER INSTEAD OF ACTUAL PINS....WORKS WAY BETTER AND I DON'T KEEP STABBING MYSELF EITHER

AND HERE THEY ARE....I EMBROIDERED THESE LITTLE HEARTS IN A TIARA SHAPE ON HERS

ANOTHER LITTLE OUTFIT FOR CLAIRE.  I EMBROIDERED THIS LITTLE C ON THE FRONT OF HER SHIRT

I'VE USED THIS DESIGN IN THE PAST FOR HER IF ANYONE REMEMBERS IT!

THEY BOTH GOT LEGGINGS OUT OF THIS
AND THIS

AND THIS

THEY ALL GO WITH THE SHOES....I KNOW IT SEEMS RIDICULOUS, BUT THESE LEGGINGS COST ME ABOUT 2 BUCKS TO MAKE AND ABOUT 15 MINUTES A PIECE IN TIME FROM CUT OUT TO FINISH.  SO WHY NOT IS HOW I LOOKED AT IT, LOL

I GOT THIS LITTLE ONESIE FOR SOPHIA TO GO WITH THIS PAIR CUZ I JUST COULDN'T RESIST IT.  MY SON (HER GRANDPA) GOT A KICK OUT OF IT TOO

AND I FOUND THIS LITTLE DRESS AT HOBBY LOBBY FOR 3 DOLLARS WITH A COUPON THAT IS.  I THINK I AM GOING TO EMBROIDER ON THE FRONT OF IT....RAIN RAIN GO AWAY   LOL
Sooo as you can see a sewing frenzy.  I am just about finished.  Just a few more of the headbands to make, and a couple of shirts for Sam, Luke, and Vinny to go, AND THEN, I can get busy on my Christmas sewing.  I am honestly not sure why I become quite so obsessed with sewing, but I just do is all I can say.  It satisfies me in many ways, and I like to keep busy.

Melody pointed something out to me yesterday (HOW ON EARTH SHE KEPT IT TO HERSELF I CAN'T BE SURE!) BUT! If you remember the advent calendars that I made last year for all three of the families as part of their Christmas gifts, and took me WEEKS AND WEEKS a piece to make??? Well, on her's (which was the last one I made!) I actually misspelled birthday!  It says HAPPY BIRTDAY JESUS!!  Can ya stand it??  lol  She knew how long I worked on them and couldn't bear to tell me last year, but she knew I'd just have a fit if I knew so she decided shed better tell me.  I have figured out a way to fix it without re-doing the whole calendar so I am pleased, but it IS another thing on my list now.  Let me show you for those who have forgotten, or never saw it.....come on, I know your dying for another pic (if you are even still here, lol).

NOW THIS IS THE ONE THAT WAS RIGHT, LOL, THAT JAMES AND LARISSA GOT!  LOL  MELODY'S IS IDENTICAL, BUT WITH BIRTHDAY SPELLED BIRTDAY, LOL

HERE'S WHAT THE REST OF IT LOOKED LIKE

Soooo I guess I will sign this ridiculously long post and try and visit as many of you as I possibly can until hubby gets home.  Looking forward to the week-end as always.  Many, many blessings to you all!  Debbie

  1. Wow Debbie, what wonderful clothes and leggings you make! They will last forever too. Everything I shopping for my grands, I think of you. All that stuff in stores is just junk.
I love all of the material and I love the personal touch you make with the embroidery.
I wondered what you had been doing. You have been so busy. I am glad everything is going great. Thanks for sharing.

  2. My goodness, your creative juices have really been flowing! Such cute items!I can't imagine having such ability. My Mother was a great seamstress and made every stitch I wore and even made my wedding dress. I don't know of a single young Mom that sews today. It may be becoming a "lost art." Happy weekend!

  3. Those grandgirlies have an entirely new wardrobe! Just beautiful, Debbie. Fun, attractive fabrics and comfy, too, I am sure. Well you may have invented a new way to spell birthday, but those mistakes are what can become family heirlooms, if allowed!

  5. Oh, I just love all of those sweet new little girl outfits you have created!! Their mommies must love getting a package from you!

I can imagine your frustration with losing your post. Ugh. Technology is such a great thing...but so frustrating sometimes!

Speaking of frustration...I am glad that you figured out a way to fix the advent calendar without starting over! Now that would have been frustrating!

    Happy weekend to you!!

  6. Wow! I am just blown away by your talent and creativity and the quantity of projects you have done. Your grandkids are so blessed to have all those beautiful outfits and the advent calendar is so sweet!

Losing everything you just typed is truly one of the most frustrating. I made a habit of hitting save at the beginning of a document and throughout as I typed.

  7. Debbie, you are an inspiration! Not that I am going to be doing any sewing - I got rid of my machine years ago - but that you continue doing what you love to do. And, you little ones are benefiting from it all. These are adorable little outfits. You are sharing with them a part of YOU and that is the most special thing you can do.

I have been away from blogging for weeks and I have debated whether to continue or not, but am glad we both are going to stick with it. I would miss you!

  8. Debbie, you are absolutely brilliant! Those outfits are darling and shoes??? Who sews shoes??? They're so cute. I'm truly amazed at all you get accomplished. It's just beautiful to see. I hope my grandkids never see this blog and wonder if they can trade grandmas. LOL
