FRIDAY NEWS

It's early Friday morning and I decided to get a jump start on my day and get this post up!  We had a wonderful rain storm last night here in So. California and how I enjoyed listening to it on our roof while we slept!  We don't get that many out here, and oh how we can use it.  It's been a busy and fast week for me and mom.  I did manage to find all the fabric I needed (and at the first JoAnne's I went to too!) and finished cutting out all of my squares. My intention is to get them all assembled and ready to sew by Mon.  I hope to do this in bits and pieces as I get the time.  And then yesterday I took mom back to Newport for more x-rays and another appointment with the surgeon.  Everything is still healing nicely, but looks like she will spend at least another month or so in her neck gear.  We are both living for the moment when she can just wear the soft neck brace.   The doc told her yesterday that it will probably take a year or so for the bone to completely grow back where he had to cut a fairly large piece out of it.  Mom was kind of discouraged after our visit to the doc's as she was really hoping to be done with that brace.  Don't blame her.  It's been a LONG 3 months!  But in the scheme of things when I looked at the x-ray and section of bone that was cut away, and the rod and screws holding her neck together, I am thankful everything turned out as well as it did.  Could have been sooo much worse.  We stopped for lunch after that, and came home and both of us took a little nap....

HAPPY JACOB!

In other news, my nieces's baby also got sick with that old RSV this week and spent several hours in the emergency room getting treatment.  What a BAD year it has been for that particular virus.  That is the third little one in our family alone who has come down with it.  He is doing much better now.  Michelle continues to need your prayers.  She is half way done with her chemo treatments.   She has suffered with different problems from it at different times, and we will all be sooo glad when that is behind her.

Nothing much on the horizon this week-end, but I sure am looking forward to it.  Probably will go to my grand daughters softball game if the weather permits it.  Hope you all have a GLORIOUS week-end!

  1. So many choices and so little time!

Naps after disappointments settle the nerves. Hope that your mom is now looking at the situation with fresh eyes. I know that she'll be making the best of an aggravating situation soon. Thanks, too, for the update on your niece. I was wondering how she's doing.

  2. Oh gosh, that virus is so scary! I saw that darling photo of the baby on fb. I am glad you mentioned Michelle because I was wondering how she was doing. And I am so glad your Mom is healing well. She must be aggravated with the neck brace, but she will be glad she did it.
    Have a lovely weekend!!

  3. I just know your dear mother is going to continue to improve. I'm sure a neck brace must be so hard to deal with but she is strong and determined and she'll adjust. I pray for her and look forward to good news again.
All the pictures are so good but that one of little Sam on the elephant is too cute!!
    Hugs & Blessings~

  6. That RSV is scary stuff! Hope your niece's baby continues to improve.

So sorry for the disappointment for your mom ... I can imagine what a pain the neck brace is ... hopefully she'll "graduate" to the soft neck brace on her next visit.

Love those pictures of Sam and Capri. Your grands are just so sweet.

  7. Busy, busy, busy! It's sad when the little ones get hit with that virus. Babies and older people are most vulnerable. The photos you share of your grandchildren always bring a smile to my face Debbie.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

  8. Always good to catch up with you, Debbie. Praying for your mom. What a nuisance having to wear a neck brace. Hope it will be better sooner than expected.
