I decided to do a QUICK post this morning while hubby is showering to tell you about my embroidery class yesterday, and about my new cleaning woman.
The class was soo much fun! I LOVED it. Now, that is not to say that it was easy, and I just zipped along, because it wasn't, and I definitely didn't. However, what a difference it made to go to one of these classes fully rested and more mentally alert. There were only 4 of us as well which made for lots of personal assistance from the teacher. It was some of the same group of gals that were on my first two classes which were about our new machines. Anyway, again, it took a few hours just to hear about how the computer part of the machine works, and how and what it can create. Then there was more time to learn how to tweek what you want etc. The final part was picking our design, choosing the colors we wanted, and then actually sewing it. Now one of the MANY things I have had in mind for the embroidery, was to maker personalized and specialized t-shirts for my grandkids. I started with Sam as his birthday is in Sept., and I wanted to make him a 2nd birthday boy t-shirt. I LOVE the way it came out, however I am not ready to put it on a t-shirt yet. First of all, I think it is too big, and 2nd of all it is of a plane, and I really want a tractor, (which is not in my machines library of course, haha). I will have to go on-line and find one somewhere. So I going to have to mess with it more to get what I want, and truthfully. remembering how it was done is going to be difficult I know. But let me show you....

HERE IS THE FINISHED DESIGN |
I can see that this too can be addictive as my head is swimming with possibilities of things to create. And honestly some of the initial costs are going to be kind of bad too as I begin collecting designs and different colored threads, not to mention the stabilizers and other gear that you need. So slowly but surely I guess I will begin. I was very pleased however how this came out, and yet it still remains to be seen if I can do it on my own and get what I want and ON an actual t-shirt, haha.
The other thing I wanted to mention is my new cleaning lady. OH MY GOODNESS I am in LOVE!! I have written a couple of blogs in the past about the wonderous cleaning woman that we had for years and years and how she was really more a part of our family etc. Well, when we moved 3 years ago she wouldn't come to my new house. Honestly it was a HUGE deal for me, haha. I have gone through soo many agencies, and women since then that honestly I had given up, lowered my standards, and basically just settled with the best one I could find. However, she was sooo far out of Nina's league it bothered me enormously. More than it should have no doubt. But 3 weeks ago she just didn't show up. I of course called and called her to no avail. Truthfully I have been worried about her as this just wasn't like her. I might never know what happened, but she was just gone. Meanwhile, I found myself once again in the position of looking for someone else. I spent hours on line and on the phone interviewing and talking etc., and had a new gal come yesterday. SHE WAS WONDERFUL!! My house has been no where near these clean of proportions since I have lived here unless I have struggled with my knees and back and done it myself. She is a little more money, but trust me, worth every single penny! She will come every other week. I have raved about it and gone and on so much I think my hubby might like to change the subject, haha.
We don't have a lot of plans for this long week-end. I intend to mess with my new machine some, we might go to lunch and a movie later on today (after a couple of must do items that is). And Sun night my middle son will come for his birthday dinner here with his girl friend. 37 years old! How can that be possible? Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day Week-end! I will leave you with a couple of pictures of my grandson JD. He is on his first fishing trip with his daddy, and his other grandpa up at Mammoth. He looks adorable!

ReplyDeleteI am so glad you found a great house cleaner.
Growing up we had a lady who was more like family to us and my Mom never did find anyone as good as she was so I know how hard that would be.
I love the fishing trip pictures what a special day.
Have a lovely weekend with your birthday boy. I have no clue how you have a 37 year old son.

IO'm so glad that you had a better experience at this lesson! I'm SO impressed with your first little project ... it's adorable! While there's a lot of expense at the beginning, they're one-time expenses that will allow you to work your magic for years to come. I can't wait to see the beautiful things you're going to be creating!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you got a housecleaner that you like. I have to admit that I've been tempted to get one. Not because I need one, but because I just don't want to take the time to clean ... too many other fun things to do (like quilting and spending time with my grands).
Terrific job on your first project,, you are going to be able to do so many fun things. Photos are beautiful
