This last Thursday afternoon, Nov. 19, 2009 my niece Michelle gave birth to her second daughter, Priscilla Jane. How adorable is that name? She weighed in at 8 pounds 3 ounces, and is 20 inches long. I was privileged to be IN the delivery room. What a wonderful miracle it is to witness the birth of a baby. I've been blessed with this experience 7 times now, not counting my own 4 children of course, and yet there will never be anything ordinary about this everyday occurence. The joy and celebration that filled the air as that baby made her appearance into this world was as overwhelming as it always is. Tears flowed as we thanked God for her safe arrival. We had gotten little to no sleep the night before as the labor had been long and difficult. As I was finally driving home I felt the urge to sleep washing over me and yet, my mind was busy thinking and wondering of what all might be in store for this precious new little life. What did God have planned for her I wondered? Who would she look like? What little personality traits would be unique to her? And as I was dwelling on these things, this verse from Jeremiah came to my heart and mind. God thoughts too are on this sweet girl and they are for peace and all that is good and not evil. His plans are to give her a future and a hope.
This has always been one of my all time favorite verses. I just LOVE it. There is just something so humbling about knowing that Almighty God Himself, considers us, and has thoughts for our good, that He considers our future and wants us to have and experience His perfect peace and hope. No matter what is going on in our life, no matter rather it seems like it or not, we are in God's thoughts. He has plans for us. He considers our futures. I don't know about any of you, but I find SUCH GREAT comfort in this truth.
The women's Bible study group that meets at my house on Friday mornings has claimed this verse as our own. God's thoughts are always on us, and they are for our futures and our hopes. All of the ladies in this group having been praying for little Priscilla since the moment her life was made known. We have covered her in a blanket of prayer, and praise and thank God for His mercies and love that have brought Michelle safely through her pregancy and delivery and rejoice over this gift of life.
I want to thank God today for the safe arrival of Priscilla Jane, and to welcome this little bundle into our family with love and joy. May she grow strong and healthy, and may she know a relationship with Jesus as soon as she is able to. May she do mighty things for His Kingdom as she grows to be all she can be. May the Lord bless her and keep her and make His face to shine upon her now and forever more.
Psalm 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Psalm 127:4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one's youth.
Look at that dimple!!

Once again I have wanted to call these last couple of days, but knew I just really didn't have time to talk as I know I would like to. I honestly can't wait to chat it up, and I have decided I will call even if it is just to say hi for a few minutes. You are such a delight, Debbie. Your heart for family and the Lord bless me so much!
I will be in touch!! Have a joyful Sunday, sweetie!
Love,
Becky

Little Priscilla is a very blessed baby and so precious. I love that scripture too. It really is amazing that God plans good things for us. It is a shame that people mess up his plans so many times. I have the feeling that this baby will have a lot of help along the way.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Blessings,
Charlotte
Oh my goodness, congrats to your niece, and what a beautiful baby girl!! I love to hear of perfect deliveries, it's just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI had my Mom in the delivery room with Tim and me when I had Madison, it was awesome! I think it's so great that you were invited in to share that unbelievable experience. Giving birth truly amazes me, there is no feeling like it. God is good, He creates such amazing life!
Oh, Debbie, how precious is this sweet little girl, Priscilla Jane! I DO love that name...it is delightful, just as she is. She has no idea yet that she has a grandmother that adores her as you do, and one that prays for her, and always will. She will have the blessings of a godly family that will teach her in the ways of the Lord...how blessed she is! No matter how many grandchildren you have, each one is just as special as the first one...they are truly God's miracle, and His most treasured gift to us! I also love this scripture...it speaks to us of God's plan for each of, individually, and that every detail is designed by Him from the beginning...we just have to trust Him. He has a plan already for Priscilla Jane...I pray that her family follow the Lord's direction for her life, and she always follows Him, wherever He leads her. I can just see the Lord smiling over her right now...with His strong hand touching her, placing His blessings on her. Your joy comes through to us...we all rejoice with you and Priscilla Jane's parents!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to all!
Mary
as we say in Jewish...matzol tov - congrats. She's beautiful. Sarah
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Have a very blessed thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteOh my word how beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi again, my friend! Yes, I knew it was your great niece...I read it and knew it, and STILL said "grandmother"..what am I to do with me??? LOL!! Isn't it wonderful, Debbie, that we can rejoice with each baby, whether our own child's or that or a family member...I am so very thankful for FAMILY. God surely had a marvelous plan for us when He gave us a natural blood line, so that we would understand and comprehend the spiritual blood line that He would give us through Jesus? I love our Lord for all He is and does, and especially with the miracle of a baby...no wonder Jesus came as a baby...I just love it! Thanks for straigtening me out, Deb. I'm sure this won't be the last time I boo-boo!
ReplyDeleteHugs and more hugs,
Mary

ReplyDeleteHi Debbie,
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't stopped by in a few days. What a sweetheart you have there. You certainly have a large family...I envy that. It would be so fun to have more babies and kids around. I was lucky enough to be in the delivery room with Bella and Madison. Watching the birth of a baby makes you appreciate one of God's greatest miracles. Enjoy that newest miracle.
Happy Thanksgiving Debbie...
ReplyDeleteI too feel at home when I come here to talk with you. I just thank you for inviting me in each visit, and for sharing your heart with me. I so enjoy your company. I love it when you pop in for a visit.
I am loving that dimple of the new baby. Isn't she just the most precious thing? I can smell that baby smell just looking at the picture.
We are going to have a new grandbaby on or around June 17th. It will be a scheduled c-section, so I am not sure of the exact date just yet. It will be grandbaby #8. I can't wait.
Have a beautiful, blessed Thanksgiving sweetie. Country hugs and love...Sherry
