SOO MANY BLESSINGS

1Ch 16:34 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

I have many things to be thankful for again this week.  God is soo good to me.  Here are just a few.

1.  My grandson JD's surgery on Mon. was a complete sucess and he is recovering nicely.  Though my daughter- in-law Larissa says JD doesn't seem to know quite what sitting quietly means, haha.  Oh to be 3 again and have more energy than you know what to do with.

2.  I have just about completed "decking the halls" over here.  May seem like a silly thing to be thankful for but I have soo much it is quite the chore.  May cut back next year.  My wonderful daughter-in-law Leah helped me, or it wouldn't be almost done. so many thanks to her too.  I will be posting some pics soon of the fun and pretty little things I have been collecting for the last 35 years!!

3.  I managed "somehow" to only gain .4 over the LONG Thanksgiving week-end of eating.  Maybe I have changed more of my eating habits than I thought.  But according to my scale this morning it is back off and another pound as well so I am back on my way....44 pounds and counting, haha!!!  I am soo grateful also to the Lord for changing my attitude back to wanting to continue on the diet as I was close to throwing in the towel for the "holiday season" which would have been a HUGE (literally) mistake.  But after MUCH prayer, my attitude is adjusted again.  I am also grateful to my Jenny Craig consultant who is such a nice woman and a tremendous help to me.

4.   I am soo glad my daughter AND her husband Mike this time were able to be here for 5 whole days!!  Dairy farmers work 7 days a week, so any time off he gets is really a bonus and a blessing.  I am also happy to report that they seem to be as happy together (or maybe even better if that is possible) as they were during their engagement year.  I hadn't seen them "together" in almost a year and I like to see things like that.
I am missing her again as usual, but I am VERY GRATEFUL she will be here for a few days before Christmas as she won't be spending Christmas in California.  This will be hard for me I am not going to lie, as it will be the first time EVER ANY of my kids have not spent the holiday with me.  But, the Lord is every faithful and I am counting on Him to see me through.

5.  Thanksgiving was WONDERFUL...We almost ran out of food, but we made it, haha.  We ate an entire 23 pound turkey and 10 pounds of potatoes and had very little left over of the rest of it.  But it was all good.  Everyone had a really good time.  The ladies all had such a good time with the aprons.  In the pic I am posting, my stepsister Barb was missing as she had to leave right after dinner as her son had to work, and my daughter in law Leah as she was busy cooking at her own house, and I also made one for Kristi who has made soo many wonderful treats for me over this last year.  You can find her blog for goodies HERE.  And I made one for my wonderful cleaning woman Nina who has worked soo faithfully for me for the last 20 years.

From left to right they are my daughter-in-law Larissa, my sister Danae, her daughter Jessie (Mel's best friend), Me, my mother who looks WONDERFUL for 77, my Melly, my niece Michelle who also looks wonderful especially considering she just had a baby 1 week ago, my sister Diane, and my step sister Pat....I LOVE all these ladies soo much!!

Kristi, the most wonderful baker you can find, in her apron...Thanks for all your hard work for me this last year!!

Mike and Mel....she hates this pic., but I think it is darling so sorry Mel...lol

Priscilla's first Thanksgiving...how precious is this?

All the young adults...

All the "older" adults.  Not sure what my mom was doing, haha  I was holding Priscilla.. = )

The kids...they were soo good

Mel & Jess peeling potatoes.  Mel makes these every year.  I didn't have any as I was "trying" to be good, but heard they were as yummy as ever.  And considering 10 pounds were completely gone, guess they were, lol.  They were soo cute in their aprons.

I also made a little slide show of the day if you have time it has more pictures of the tables and some fun times afterwards...  ENJOY

I felt I had to add this after Kristi's comments.  No, I did not have to make myself an apron as I recieved a BEAUTIFUL one from my friend Sue's (Where Memories are Made)  mother.  It was soo nice with hand stiching and all.  I am quite certain I was wearing the best one!

  1. Debbie, your aprons are just beautiful on all you beautiful ladies! They are so cute, all lined up in a row...I just love how they turned out! You must be very proud and pleased that everything was so wonderful...the aprons, the wonderful baked goods and foods, but your family is just too wonderful...what a blessing!!! How I miss having my hubby's large family around... they grew up and started doing things separately...I miss it, but we have great memories and photos of those days. Now its our son and his family, which is still wonderful...so many people have no one at all...I can't imagine the heartache of being alone during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but many are. We do have so very much to be thankful for...God is good to us, so good, and blesses us in so many ways. I love the way you had scripture verses on the table...you have left a lasting memory for every one that was there...the baby, Priscilla, is just too beautiful for words, as are the other children...they are just precious! I'm so glad your day was so wonderful, and I know Christmas will be too, even with Mel being absent...God will fill in the void somehow, and your day will be just as blessed as Thanksgiving was...you can trust Him to be with you throughout the entire day...and its wonderful that she will be there before Christmas, so that is another blessing.

Glad JD's surgery went well...I can't imagine him holding still for long! I'll say a little prayer for his quick healing!

Take care, Debbie, and again, your family is beautiful...loved the slide show...everything was perfect!

    God bless!

  3. Hi Debbie!!

I'm so honored to have made the blog!! I love my apron, I can't even tell you how many times I've used it. I feel like everything I make tastes better if I use my apron!!! LOVE the slide show. Your tables were gorgeous and I'm so glad your daughter was there to share your day. It sounds like the two of you have the same relationship I have with my Mom. She's my best friend and it would be hard to spend any holiday away.

You have put so much hard work into your weight loss, 44 pounds is amazing, and you look wonderful!! Did you make an apron for yourself? You should if you haven't already. I seriously LOVE mine, have I said that yet?

Glad your holiday went so well, and I'm so happy that you asked me to make some sweets for it, you honestly feel like family now, and I feel blessed for that!! Thank you for the continued business you have given me, it is much appreciated!!

Can't WAIT to see the holiday decor, I'm working on my pictures right now. I know my stuff won't measure up to all of you that have been collecting for so long, but I try!!

Great post Debbie, glad your Grandson is doing so well too!!

  5. Hi Debbie,
I really enjoyed your post about Thanksgiving! Your family is large like mine, and when we do a holiday meal together, it looks much the same. Always a great time! Your aprons were such a thoughtful thing to do, for the ladies of the family. I am an apron gal, and have many.
Thanks for all of your sweet comments you leave on my blog too. Wish you didn't live out of town, it would be fun to get together now and then.
    Hugs,

  17. I am glad that you had such a wonderful Thanksgiving! Look at that family - how wonderful it would be to have so much family under one roof, and with the smiles!! The aprons that you made are absolutely adorable!! I have been wanting to make child size aprons for my girls for a while now, and one for me...you just might be my inspiration!!! Your photos are wonerful! I commend you on your weight loss and sticking through the holidays, I heard on the radio the other day that people gain like 9 pounds from halloween to new years...crazy. I am also happy to hear that your daughter and her husband are even happier in their marriage than in their engagement, that is truely something to be thankful for!!

  26. Hello my sweet friend! How I have missed you! Wow! You did so much better than I did with photos. Things were a little weird here, because we cooked the turkey a little differently and it was done before the other dishes were heated through, and then there were a couple of other glitches, and I didn't even touch the camera. It was all good though!

With all of that said, I have to say that I LOVE this post! I feel like I was there with you, meeting your family and having fun. How delightful. And oh.my.goodness. What an absolutely adorable pic of all of you pretty ladies in your aprons!!! And those gorgeous potato peelin' gals of yours!! Whoa! So much beauty in one place!! And if they are all like you, they are beautiful on the inside, too!!

Your table look great and so do Kristi's goodies she made, and I could go on and on! Also loved the slideshow! Thanks for letting us into your thankful celebration!! Looks like some wonderful memories were made, which is exactly what I prayed for you!

So glad Melly was there!! Christmas will be ok..you'll see!

Have a joyful weekend, Deb'. Think of you often. Pray that my computer gets fixed so I can blog properly again!
    Big hugs,
    Becky
