THE SHADOW OF YOUR WINGS..

Psalm 36:7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.

I LOVE this verse ~  always have.   What better place to be than under the shadow of the wings of Almighty God?

As we all travel through this life there are no guarantees.  No guarantee we will see the next day or even really the next moment.  God holds our every breath in His hands.   It can be an overwhelming thought sometimes if you let your mind wonder and really take hold of all the "what if's" there really are.  What if  the economy continues to crumble and times becomes harder than ever and we don't have enough money to pay our bills or put food on the table?  What if someone we love gets sick or hurt or worse yet killed in a sudden accident?  What if we were to become really ill or disabled?  Who would care for us and what might happen?  Earthquakes, tornados, fire and floods are all very real dangers.  On and on of course the list could go.  It has always been easy for me to fall prey to this way of thinking; worrying about things that MOST of the time NEVER happens anyway.  You'd think after 55 years on this earth I might have learned this lesson by now, but still I have found my mind at times going in this direction.  It is a CONSTANT battle for me.  And yet, the bible VERY CLEARLY tells me that He cares for me...

1 Peter 5:7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Matthew  6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

The other night after some disturbing news at the doctor's office following a mammogram, I was praying and reading through the Psalms looking for some comfort and direction from Him.   I came upon Psalm 46 and it brought such peace to my heart.  I put my name in it personally and decided to really claim it for myself...It says..

Psalm 46:1 God is DEBBIE'S  refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble...THEREFORE, DEBBIE will not fear...

and also this verse...

Psalm 46:10, 11 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!  The LORD of hosts is with DEBBIE; The God of Jacob is HER refuge.

I am to get a biopsy done next week.  I don't know which day yet for sure.  I don't know what "might" lie ahead.  I don't know if in fact it is anything at all.  I do know this....God cares for me.  My life is totally in His hands.  Whatever it might be isn't as important as knowing that we serve a God where there are no mistakes, and nothing happens outside of His perfect will for us.  He will walk with me every day of my life until the day He calls me home and be my refuge in the storm and my strength in times of trouble and tribulation.  He will rejoice and dance with me when I am happy and understands my human emotions and fears.   I will rest under the shadow of His wings..

  1. Oh Debbie, so sorry to hear about your disturbing news! I will be praying for the biopsy to reveal only good news. Those are some great verses you are hanging on to and you're right we just don't know what this earthly life may bring, but praise God, we know we have a future and a hope that He loves us and cares for us so much that our names are inscribed on the palms of His hands (Isaiah 49:16). I will also be praying for you to be at peace during the time you are waiting for the test and results. I know that sometimes the anticipation and not knowing can be one of the hardest parts.

  2. Just starting to read this week's Spiritual Sunday posts and I see a trend emerging. God is telling us to trust Him. We are going through trials of various kinds, but He is there for us. Like you said-rest under the shadow of His wings.
I hope you feel peace, as you undergo the biopsy and wait for the results. God bless you.

  7. As you wrote, no one has a certainty of tomorrow. It doesn't depend on money, age, or health..
The good thing is this...Nothing can seperate us from the Love Of God! Nothing...Romans...
Plus as Christians we are always winners...we are here on earth with Him, or in Heaven with Him...we cannot loose. God loves you, He loves your family also.
And, the children are so beautiful.
    Be at peace dear sister...Hugs.

  8. Debbie - praying for a good report for you. I understand what you are going though. I had an abnormal mammogram a few years ago and had to have a biopsy (which thankfully was benign). The waiting and uncertainty is difficult. So thankful these verse are providing comfort for you during this time.

    Blessings,
    Joan

  10. I'm praying for you too, Debbie. I'm so glad God is giving you the peace you need in this situation. There are so many "what ifs" in this world. These what ifs cause us to depend more on Him. My S.S. post is about depending on God and every post I've read today is on the same subject. I think maybe God is trying to tell us all something.
    Blessings and prayers,
    Charlotte

  11. Dear Debbie,
I will never forget the day I got a call from the doctor's office telling me to come in because something had showed up in my mammogram! I was a bit stressed over it probably because my best friend had died from breast cancer. I went for a biopsy which proved inconclusive. I had to have another biopsy which proved benign. I thank God that He was in control all along even though I was a bit stressed over it all. I was and am in His hands and so are you! There is nothing like the peace God can give you! I will be praying for you, sweet friend. Take care and enjoy your weekend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  21. It seems like a real time of testing of God's children is happening all over. May we each pass our individual tests with flying colors and we will if we keep our eyes fixed on HIM!!! HE does not fail. You are healed!!!!

  22. Those verses are so beautiful - so extra beautiful when we put our own names in there..and claim them for our own. You should write those down - or even memorize them - and take them with you as you go for the biopsy. Don't even give the devil an inch to fill you with worry or fear. I promise to be lifting you up in prayer - that God will not only be in the results but that your heart will be comforted as you wait. Rest in His wings, my friend.

  23. First, let me say "thank you" for dropping by my place earlier. I found my way to your place because of it, and I must say I share the sentiments shared, and the prayers offered. God's peace & healing touch upon you, friend.

By the way, hubby and I lived near you for a few years. We had a home in Alta Loma, and attended Hillside Church there.

    Blessings,
    Kathleen

  27. hello my new friend, just wanted to know how your post comforted me, and knowing that you know where to go in a time of need is such an encouragement to us all,
Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Amen and amen, he is in control of all our tomorrows, and gives us the grace to live each day for his glory, if we get ahead or behind we cannot enjoy the full strength of our lord, but he is our safe hiding place, our rock in the time of storm, and definitely our mighty tower. God bless you and know you are in my prayers.
When you have time stop by my blog and take a look see, the post I made today may be a encouragement to you.
    Lots of Hugs, Barbara from
