PRAYERS NEEDED FOR MY MOM

This will be quick as I have another VERY long day ahead of me. My mother (78...always been in really good health) indeed had a stroke on Friday. She is hospitalized at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. She is doing well in the respect that she does not seem to have ANY physcial repercussions from this, but it has definitely effected her mental abilities. She is unable to recognize letters or numbers so of course she cannot read or write. She was in sooo much pain yesterday and was very sick to her stomach the whole day as well. She is agitated and restless and keeps trying to get out of bed and go home. She did not recognize me at one point yesterday which was a very strange feeling. We have no idea how long she might be hospitalized or what her future might hold. We are living this one day at time, sometimes one hour at a time. I would soo appreciate your prayers. I am grateful that there are 4 of us girls to work her. Her hubby is 85 and usually soo strong and self sufficient you would never know he is 85. But he is soo upset as he loves her so. I will keep you updated as best I can. I am not sure when I will get around for visits, but know I love you and miss you......Debbie

I am claiming this verse (and many others) for my mom

Psa 91:4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

  1. Oh Debbie, I'm so sorry! I will keep your Mom in prayer, and your whole family too. I can't imagine my own mom not recognizing me, I am sure that was very strange. Hang in there. You'll be in my thoughts today.

  3. I remember how I felt when my mother, always in excellent health, suddenly had a massive heart attack. Shocked. Disbelief. Scared. Worried. Uncertain. Very tired. Lifting you both up in prayer today, as well as your dad and other loved ones. God loves you all so much. He is with you now.

  4. I find it a little odd that God led me to your link before I visited any others. I’ve been asking for prayers for my mom for awhile now, and they were answered this week. So I am praying for your mom now, for restored health, for restored mental abilities, for no pain.

I am also praying for you, Debbie, because I KNOW how difficult it is to be in your position. May you find peace as you care for your mom.

    Blessings on your family!

  5. Dear Debbie, I'm so sorry to hear of your mother's condition. She is the same age as my mom, so I can really relate. Life is so uncertain and can turn in a split second. You are all in my prayers.

  7. Hi Debbie:

I hopped over here from Sassy Granny's post when I saw your prayer request for your mom. My own dad and later my mom, had strokes and were in a hospital right on the coast up from San Juan Capistrano where they lived, I think it was in Newport Beach. Oh, I so remember those days. It is with a full heart that I join you in prayer for your precious mom as well as your dad and each one of you. He has you in His hands, keep trusting, as I will on your behalf.

    Hugs!

  8. Hi Debbie,
I'm sorry to hear about your mother. My mother had her first stroke when she was in her seventies and she has never been the same. I hope your mom bounces back really well and she will be as good as new! God is with you all and He will take care of her! Please take care of yourself too and remember you are under the shelter of His wings.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  13. Dear Debbie, I'm lifting up your mom, claiming the verse you wrote but hopeful that because you got her help so quickly that she will recover easily. Doctors have made excellent strides in helping stroke victims regain their abilities.
Holding you and your family up as well dear friend.
    Hugs, Noreen
